  1. Yes... I got in the game just at the right time and have ridden it for 10+ years.. it's been a good era to be in internet technology. Even with the dot com bubble, outsourcing, and recent layoffs, my industry still looks strong. Computers and software are so ingrained in business and the mechanisms of the world, there were always be demand..
  2. I wonder if a viable 3rd party, a Libertarian party perhaps, could evolve over the next few years. The Republican party as it is now is a pretty damaged brand--it has the image of the white Christian intolerance party, supporting failed economic policies.
  3. Clinton is recent history..I lived through the 90s. It's part of my reality context. The Republicans are going to have to reinvent themselves if they are going to be relevant again. (As far as 1 party, I suspect many conservatives want a theocracy with a dictator for life---I know many of the foaming-at-the-mouth, rabid social conservatives..they are as scary as hell).
  4. Let's see, the country was in really good shape when Bill was in office...the economy was booming through the mid and late nineties. Face it, the conservative BS is what got the country in the mess it is in now..it's a failed ideology whose time is past.
  5. Nice to see what appears to be a big turn out of young voters. I like how Roland Martin on CNN was talking about how he bridges between the boomers and gen X (my generation).
  6. If I didn't have to go to work tomorrow, I'd probably sit in the jacuzzi all night listening to Springsteen and U2 in a happy mood, drinking mojitos..
  7. Could be... maybe it will be end of the failed neocon movement. Consign them to the past where they belong.
  8. Across the Hudson River from Westchester County, just to the NW of NYC. I've been through there back in the mid '90s. Before I moved west, I looked pretty seriously at moving to Westchester County (Yorktown, specifically). It's a beautiful green part of the state..
  9. The way I look at it, what we saw tonight is a vote for the future, for modernity; rather than for an outdated worldview of the past, which the failed neocon mindset represents.
  10. It's not easy... I took 4 years of Spanish in HS and college... but it was Spain Spanish, not Arizona Spanish. I want to learn French---want to spend at least a month in France in '10.
  11. I've just very happy right now..very optimistic for the future of our country. The recent history has been pretty painful.
  12. I won't be a jerk...
  13. YES WE CAN !! YES WE CAN !!! YES WE CAN!!! VICTORY IS OURS!!! 297 EVs for Obama @11pm EST. HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY
  14. I can't wait to talk to my Mom and brother in Ohio tommorow..they are going to be sulking. Talked w/ my sister a couple hours ago--she was at the airport bar in Charlotte (flying from San Antonio to Dayton via Charlotte), watching Fox news , optimistic for Obama.
  15. Kind of freaky, isn't it? I keep thinking of Princess Leia. I'm wondering how my old home state of Florida is going to go...
  16. I'd love to be there also..I know that park quite well... I live about 2 miles from where McCain's party is tonite--the Biltmore. Should I put my Obama shirt on and go crash the party???
  17. I got 20 teriyaki wings from Long Wong's on the way home, ate those and have had about 5 Fat Tires... I'm jumping around between CNN, Fox, BBC America, and WGN. Reading updates on CNN's website, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Columbus Dispatch, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Chicago Tribune, Denver Post, and Arizona Republic websites..this is a fun evening.
  18. Yes...I'm using the CNN Electoral Map Calculator and seeing it that way.
  19. Very happy to see Ohio and Pa go to Obama...it blew my mind to see Tuscarawas County, Ohio projected for Obama (it's the county I'm originally from).
  20. Well, the gas mileage is part of the equation. The greenness (i.e. emissions) is the big selling point, I think.
  21. Since this is election day, I was watching traffic for offbeat political bumper stickers--the best one I saw today said 'Vader/Cheney 08'....on the back of a black 4th gen Trans Am (haven't seen one of those in ages!).
  22. Wolf Blitzer, CNN
  23. Good question... I've never used my Phoenix home phone publicly, it's not in my name, yet I came home today with two Democratic robocalls--Barack and Michelle's messages, with the local polling place at my Colorado address)--- and two Republican 'vote for McCain or the country is doomed' messages!!! WTF??
  24. How about a road usage tax, based on miles driven, like that is being proposed in the UK? This would impact everyone that uses roads--farmers, truckers, ordinary drivers. It seems like it could be the fairest way to pay for the infrastructure...
  25. I voted by mail a couple weekends ago...very easy and relaxed way to do it..it was a long ballot, lots of propositions and judges for re-election, it gave me time to research everyone online and figure out which incumbents, etc to vote against.. I went into work early today, before 7, going to head home around 3 ish, plan to be glued to the TV from 4-10 or so...probably watch CNN and flip to BBC America and MSNBC occasionally...while watching a bunch of blogs and my Twitter and Facebook feeds... and play w/ the terriers some.
