One Year Review of my 2014 Chevy Impala LTZ 3.6L
Drew Dowdell replied to Cmicasa the Great's topic in Chevrolet
Na, I think it is too much car to be the Malibu. This should have been a Caprice maybe with the SS getting the Impala name. -
The Maxima doesn't have the interior niceness. The Cadenza doesn't have the handling nor the solid feel, scratch the surface and you find the underlying Kia cheapness. To get all the same equipment as this Regal GS in a BMW 328, you have to spend another $6,000 and you're still down on power. The MKZ is junk... there... I said it. The TLX is the most natural competitor from an equipment and price perspective and it comes with a V6. It doesn't really float my boat looks wise, but there it is.

what issue do U have with USB? I haven't been experiencing any issues with that either. It drives my phone nuts and doesn't actually play any music. I have a Galaxy S4.

So do you think they are just trying to get a bit extra profit for the auto then and if it does not sell well they can say see no one wanted these type of auto's under the Buick name plate. The Regal is about quality rather than quantity. If you're looking for raw speed, this isn't your car. If you're looking for the most cubic feet of passenger room for your dollar, this isn't your car. The Regal is your car if you want an excellently balanced sedan with plenty of pickup, in a solid and luxurious package, at a price that doesn't break the bank compared to equally equipped competition. The price premium for the GS trim is a bit excessive in my opinion, but it does get higher end tech not available in the regular Regal. If it were my money, I'd probably go for a top of the line non-GS.

Quick Drive: 2014 Cadillac XTS VSport Premium

Sales: Sales Figure Ticker: October 2014
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in 2014 Sales Archive
Subaru continuing to kick ass. At this rate of growth, they'll be surpassing Kia soon. But I still wonder if they can handle the continued growth. They're going to need another model or two or they're going to level out soon. If they could come out with a competitive replacement for the Tribecca and make it into a Japanese Grand Cherokee....- 4 replies

October 2014: General Motors Co.

The Leaf and Pruis ride and drive like crap. The Volt doesn't. -
October 2014: Chrysler Group LLC

There's the end of Avenger. I haven't seen any new Chargers on the road yes, though a couple of Challengers. I wonder if there is a slowdown there due to switch over of the model. Durango was going like gangbusters this time last year.. it will probably have a few months that look off. -
Cadillac News: Spying: The Next Cadillac SRX or XT5
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
The XT5 couldn't charge that price unless it moves up on interior room. That is X5 territory. 99.99999999% of buyers don't care about "packaging" as long as the vehicle meets their needs. Even enthusiasts don't care. You are the only one on a car enthusiast forum who cares that the SRX is bigger on the outside than its competition. The MKC is more of a tweener. It feels only marginally bigger inside than my Encore (and most of that room is in the trunk). -
Cadillac News: Spying: The Next Cadillac SRX or XT5
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
No. For the 99th time. The SRX is the same size interior as the GLK and X3. Buyers of this segment seem to prefer the FWD models -
1980 breakdown of power consumption WRT MPG
Drew Dowdell replied to balthazar's topic in Tech Section
There is a new trick with alternators now though, They can vary the load they place on the engine depending on the amount of load being used. I ran into it once when I was in a Buick Lacrosse on a trip. I was using a power inverter to power a laptop, plus we had a number of other chargers and stuff plugged in. There was a noticeable decline in fuel economy. But on the way back, none of that was used except a phone plugged into a USB port. Over the same route, fuel economy was much improved. -

Probably because it isn't necessary. The market has spoken... they like the SRX more than the X3 and GLK -
1980 breakdown of power consumption WRT MPG
Drew Dowdell replied to balthazar's topic in Tech Section
Well cars are much more slippery these days, so one would hope there would be a redistribution of the percentage away from that. However, engines and accessories are much more efficient too, so maybe only the overall fuel burn had changed but the percentages remain the same. -
Cadillac News: Spying: The Next Cadillac SRX or XT5
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
Sure you can. Cadillac does it with the SRX, Infiniti does it with the QXPathfinder and Audi does it with everything. And then of course the Lexus RX. I expect the XT5 to move up in base price a little. This is a luxury segment that really doesn't seem to care about FWD/RWD because they are mostly ordered with AWD. -
Cadillac News: Spying: The Next Cadillac SRX or XT5
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
You're really trolling all over the map. The car we're discussing is the XT5 which is an SRX replacement. It competes (currently) in the X3/GLK price and size segment. I don't care that it is bigger on the outside than those two, it is the same size inside. ... and more importantly, neither do buyers because the SRX outsells both of those models each month. For a while there it even outsold both of those models combined while maintaining that same price. As for the Escalade, I've driven it. It is fantastic. It is probably the best Cadillac currently made. I've also driven the Range Rover and the MB GL350 diesel. I would pick the Cadillac over those two each and every day of the week and not feel a second of remorse over that decision. The Cadillac is simple better overall. The few I've seen driving around Pittsburgh cause a twinge of jealousy at the driver.... I've never gotten that from the GL. -

Cadillac News: Spying: The Next Cadillac SRX or XT5
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
No, not based on the Equinox. The new Equinox is not out yet and this is a new platform. The Equinox may be based on the Cadillac in the future, but not the way around that you're suggesting. I have no problem with Cadillac getting platforms first and then Chevy gets to pick up a variant on it later. -
