  1. The G6 was nothing special and this Malibu really isn't anything special, nothing about it makes it the obvious choice over an Accord, Camry, Fusion or Sebring. Its not ugly, but its not a beautiful car, in fact it looks a little like a shrunken Impala from the front. And the interior appears to be the same tons-'o-cutlines (leading to tons-'o-squeaks in the future) that GM has had for years, only with snazzy design and colors.
  2. Just buy a Mustang.
  3. State Farm gave me retail value for my Solara, which is the highest of the 3 you get check you check KBB, etc. Another thing to take into consideration, do you live in a no-fault state? Mo is a fault state, so if someone hits me, they pay. I'll keep Comprehensive and Collision on anything I have a loan on but not something I own outright , it just seems like an unnecessary expense. Living in a no-fault state would change that for me. My friend Scott who used to drive his wife's '87 Corolla asked his agent about full coverage, he said it was pointless. Basically, he would pay $550ish/6 months for a car valued at $900. So if he did have an accident, even something minor, his car would likely be totaled and he would be cut a check for $900-his deductible, but filing a claim would likely raise his insurance rates in the future.
  4. What is the book value of the car? How much is full coverage every month and how much would minimal coverage be? Is it worth paying $900/year for something that might happen to a car that may be worth $3,000?
  5. Seriously, the second one I have ever seen.
  6. I think paying any attention to this is pathetic.

    08 Chargers

True. Problem is they dont buy them new, cant afford to, with all the money they spend on lottery tickets, cheap beer and whatever cigarettes are BOGO this week, they end up rolling in ghetto cruisers.
  8. That gives me an idea. Welcome to GMS-Sponsored by St. Ides
  9. I want to roll in a Bipper
  10. How 'bout not, since the Cobalt is huge compared to the Scions, like two feet longer than the xD, which gets 27/33 or 26/32 depending on transmission.
  11. Cool, I didn't know if GM was going to expand that or not. The only real reason to change the oil and recommended intervals is to keep the warranty in tact.
  12. One great thing about the EcoTec is that the oil filter is on top, and its just the paper part, so you can easily change the filter without having to dump all of the oil. Thats a recipe for 12,000 mile oil changes.
  13. 3,000 miles is a fairly arbitrary number anyways. They could tell you 8,000 miles or 600 miles or every other week. The oil life monitors are great (did 8,000 miles delivering pizzas between changes with the Saturn) but a little common sense works just as well. Oil doesn't last forever, synthetics last longer than conventional, its just a matter of what your engine can handle. I would have no qualms about driving a modern engine 4-5k on conventional oil, even a sludge prone one like a Dodge or Toyota, and I see no reason to perform a change every 5k on the Fusion, which is what Ford recommends.
  14. Campus parking is a problem just about everywhere. Thats why I have a bike. I have a permit for work, that lot is about a block from work and five miles from campus. Load the bike onto the car, park in lot, ride to class, ride from class to work, ride from work to car, drive home. Beautiful system.
  15. Have you ever looked at your oil after an oil change? The stuff that came out of my old Saturn looked pretty good after 4k, the synthetic I put in the Sebring and Solara appeared almost fresh out of the bottle at 5000.
  16. O.J.
  17. I went grocery shopping a little while ago, and I got a pretty good spot, right up in front. It just happened to be open, if it hadn't been, I would have parked further away, no biggie. Even with Alex with me, its not really that hard to walk a few yards to the door. So as I'm leaving, a car pulls into the aisle I was parked in and sees me unlock the car. So the woman (appeared to be mid-30's, by herself in the car, stops, puts on her turn signal and waits as I put my groceries in the trunk. And waits as I take the cart over to the cart return. And waits as I put my son in his car seat. All told, she probably waited 4-5 minutes for a good spot when there were several open spots just a little ways down. The icing on the cake is that she apparently though she could drive through my car and tried to pull into the spot while I was backing up.
  18. According to the Snopes article, the Nova sold decently in Mexico and Venezuela.
  19. Whoops, 96%. You'd think I know what year the Constitution was written.
  20. I could count the number of people who car on one hand. If you want the airiness of a hardtop, you can buy the vert. If you want a solid roof above your head, you can buy the coupe. There just aren't enough buyers in between to justify it. A hardtop will weigh more, likely less than the vert, but still more than the coupe due to the reinforcements that would be required. It'll also increase price, and for what? A handful of people who think its still 1969? Its 2007, like it or not, there are rules and regulations and cost prohibitions. The Camaro is coming, but I guess they cant please everyone, since its not going to be a hardtop, its not going to have AWD available(sorry reg, no Camaro for you) and its not going to give you a bj every time you turn the key(another reason reg wont buy one) and probably wont have a useful back seat. Some people just cannot accept that their ideal isn't compatible with reality.
  21. No va=doesn't go, its two words. Click
  22. Wow, you mean they announced that the Camaro will have a b-pillar, and I still managed to wake up this morning and the world wasn't on fire. Hold on a second, let me check CNN.....nope, no Armageddon. Huh, maybe a b-pillar on the 5th gen Camaro isn't the worst thing to ever happen, the most catastrophic event in the history of the known universe. The way some people talk, you would think that a b-pillar had killed their father and raped their mother. Boo-f@#king-hoo, life goes on. The one sale GM lost with this announcement will be replaced by the hundreds, maybe thousands of others that they gained by keeping the costs down.
  23. I had to do a crappy compare and contrast research paper on a crappy movie and the crappy book it was based on. So I did the obvious thing, I wrote the paper as a screenplay. I ended up getting an A, apparently the riveting fictional elements were able to blind my prof to the fact that I half-assed the research.
  24. Have you ever seen a grown man naked?
  25. I had three cups this morning, then kicked ass at Monopoly. Guess its just something you have to get used to.
