  1. How many dealerships actually bought the Accords and Camrys? Larger dealerships tend to be part of groups, owned by one company, and they can send an Accord and Camry across the lot for use. My Saturn dealership did that, except instead of across the lot, they had to bring the Toyota and Honda in from across the state. Camrys and Accords can also be rented, so its unlikely GM would have actually paid $144 million. If they did want to buy them, they totally could have bought them as a fleet, thereby hurting Toyota and Honda's retail sales percentage a little.
  2. I went back and took more pics, but they're blurry because I forgot to adjust my antiquated camera for the sunlight. Thats not the important part, the important part is that I arrived at the dealership right behind a Jaguar XJS, the gentleman driving the Jag got out and took pics of the CTS and gushed over it. A couple of minutes later a couple in a new RL drove up to look at the CTS and they ended up talking with the Jaguar guy for a good fifteen minutes. All three of them were extremely impressed by it, the Jaguar guy implied he would be back when the dealership was open to test driev and possibly buy it. The RL couple was just as enthusiactic. A younger couple in a Grand Cherokee and a guy in a first-gen Tundra both drove by and checked the car out, but apparently didn't want to join the party.
  3. I loved the color on the CTS when it first came out, I bet it'll look great on the '08 when I finally see one in person.
  4. Have any of you driven a Tundra? They're not terrible, I haven't driven a GMT-900. so I cantcompare, but I was impressed by the short drive I took in a Tundra. Honestly, I only took the drive because they were giving away Bass Pro gift cards with a test drive and I needed a new paddle for my kayak, but the truck isn't bad and I would have no problem recommending it.
  5. New plan. I'm going to hang out in the men's room at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. Then I will run for a Senate seat.
  6. My dealership got a black '08 in. I stopped to take a few pics tonight, they didn't turn out great, black car+late night=not the best pics. The ones I took with my headlights on the car for light were worse. I'll try run back tomorrow to get some during the day.

    New car fever

There is a blue GT convertible just down the row from the red V6 that I really want. The added $10k for the GT, plus the extra insurance really doesn't seem worth it.
  10. Apparently it was uncomfortable for two high schoolers to try to have sex in one of those Toyota based Novas.
  11. Seconded.

    New car fever

Yeah, he told me he paid like $15k, I was expecting a loaded SES with leather, and all that other good stuff. Nope, SE with a stick and wheel covers. No ABS, no Audiophile, no side impact bags, nothing.

    New car fever

My sister and her husband have been taking that approach, first trying to get rid of his F-150 for a Silverado, that fell through when the dealership wouldn't give him close to fair value for his truck, shopping around discovered that local Chevy dealerships will not give a reasonable trade offer for an F-150. Then they've been looking at Mustangs and Wranglers to replace the Rendezvous, which is more car than they need. So far my immediate family has resisted, even though my dad really needs a new car and is quite enamored with the HHR.

    New car fever

In the last 3 weeks, many of my friends/acquaintances have bought new cars. The friend who had been driving an '87 Corolla (his wife's but she made him drive it) bought a new Elantra (which is now his wife's, he gets the Cherokee). My boss recently bought a new Mustang coupe, which made me jealous. Another friend replaced her 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse with a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse, totally an exciting move there. A co-worker recently bought a Focus, most impressive thing about that is he paid sticker. All of this has led me to catch new car fever (still want an Edge, though a red Mustang convertible has my eye), I need to find a cure that doesn't involve buying a new car.
  15. Saturday--College football Sunday--Abso-friggen-lutely nothing Monday--Loading up the kayak and going floating with some family and friends Tuesday--Apparently meeting the person/persons who have rented the house next door. According to another neighbor, the house next to mine (which has been a rental since the builder bought it back when the owners divorced a few years ago) has been re-rented, the last couple over there was ok, they kept to themselves and weren't a huge pain in the ass, which many of the renters around here are.
  16. I've got to back Northie up, the Accord has the best interior in the class. The Fusion has mostly decent materials, but the design is plain, the current Malibu is unspectacular, the Camry is ok, nothing great and the Sonata...well, its a Hyundai. So yeah, the Accord has the best interior available at the price point. Anyone who thinks any current GM offering in the class is better is obviously biased and blind to objectivity, perhaps a borderline ignorant hick.
  17. GM humpers are going to say it happened to every Tundra. Toyota humpers are going to point to the 20 vehicles Toyota said it effected. In reality. its probably somewhere in between those two numbers, likely closer to 20 than 60,000.

    Bulge!

The bulge is there so they dont have to have a separate light on the side, it saves money vs. a side marker and complies with regulations worldwide. Less money+less complexity=we're stuck with it, for better or for worse.
  19. I saw one of these the other day. One of these, or some other Cobalt with a giant dildo on the roof.
  20. I saw a C6 with 3 ports per side about a week ago.
  21. Ditto, with the dearth of large true station wagons, the crossover is the best option for people who need the extra room but dont want the ponderous drive or less efficient interior of a traditional SUV.
  22. All Corvettes are red, the rest are mistakes. That said, I do like this color on the C6. I also liked Nassau blue on the C5, but for some reason never warmed to blue on the C4, which needs to be either red, white or black.
  23. A color that looks like it fell straight from the 80's, so very bland.
  24. Reg, when the Flex hits lots, I expect a very detailed test drive from you. Seriously, I really like the looks and the space advantage over the Edge is appealing, especially if Ford saw fit to offer an Element-like hose-out interior with flat fold seats.
