Well considering Cadillac's flagship sedan is about to get a 3.6L V6 with 300 hp, it doesn't seem like a much lower end Chevrolet sedan should have a V8. Chevrolet should be the brand to the the CAFE sacrifice, not Cadillac.

PCS I heard you the other night on Autoline After Hours. All those people typed your name when they heard you speak. It was nice to put a voice with the the name. As far as what you typed here Apparently you are telling us something....

My question about this the interiors.... If it is based on Holden Caprice/Statesman, I have no problem with the exterior. The interior needs some sort of upgrade.

There was a Caprice LTZ and LS before.

Personally,

Caprice LS

Caprice LT/LTZ ( either one)( group options)

Impala SS

Instead., continue making vehicles that satisfy the mass market's desire for fuel and cost efficiency before making another G8, like the new Regal and the Malibu? Or have a big Caddy on a Zeta with those options, something that will command a price premium.

As a taxpayer, the last thing I want to see is Chevrolet offering 7K off the hood of their 'Caprice' just like Pontiac did with the G8 my way. And I know it'll happen, because plenty of the same people who pined, and whined for the G8 were the ones that ended up not buying it for whatever reason. Buy a Camaro if you want something like this so bad.

Impala SS. 430hp v8

Caprice/Statesman=

Caprice LT. 3.6 300hp v6

Caprice LTZ. 380hp v8

don't even bring them here unless AWD is on the option sheet.

Well, depending on what year (2011, 2012, 2013 or 2014) it could be the current Zeta platform or the next generation Zeta platform, next generation will have a highly upgraded interior.

Yeah I was speaking on Autoline After Hours, it was very nice of the host John McElroy to make a special effort to speak to me personally. I spoke about the Zeta and Alpha platforms. I've been invited to the Autoline studios in the future. :smilewide:

Think of a Zeta based Cadillac Sixteen, then you will see where I am.

:)

That would be a proper Cadillac, not that XTS thing. Dropping the X from the name would be nice too, while we're at it. Call it DTS as it makes for a fairly logic progression from A, to C, to D.

Re the Chevy, I'd vote for the 2nd option.

It will be nice to see you on the show should you attend. You will still have to be careful what you say on that show I am sure. We will have to send hat this sedan offers. Caprice is a good start. The Sixteen was a nice concept. I liked the Sixteen it was the right size and more. I guess there has to be a business case for a large car like that. Giving Chevrolet one would give them a business case to build one for Cadillac. I am sure they would be total opposites. I am sure Holden would benefit and this would be used globally in Asia Pacific and China and the Middle East too.

I'm liking option 1 in this case If an ole Bbody wagon can be motivated with 145HP then it's ALL good. all Statesman based or might Commodore make it here with a bow tie? I still want that sportwagon

I would vote for the second option. I see little need for a LS with less than 300 HP.

Make a LT with a V6 LT1 and V8 LT2 and then the big gun Impala SS.

What I wouild like to see is a option package like the LTZ available with the LT but package it like the RS packlage that can be added to the Camaro LT or in this case SS. Make it an added option styling package for those who want the extra cost trim and things like halo lights etc bigger wheels etc.

I hope they would wait till the new Zeta interior so there is less comparison to the G8. Not that it would be a bad car to compare it too but I would hate from marketing stand point to have a new Chevy compared a car they just killed. Let the Chevy stand on it's own.

The Sixteen would be great but I would expect a V8 and a shorter hood?

Here is a question no one here has asked and I am sure PCS is not able to answer yet.

If we get a Chevy Impala SS - 6.2L LS3 V8, Chevy Caprice LT - 6.0L L76 V8 (361 hp)

(415 hp) between 2011-2014 what does this mean about the future FWD Impala for 2013-2014?

Is the Malibu and Zeta going to take it's place? Is going to be a different name? Just something to consider.

Also should we still be watching for The big plans and ideas hinted in the Pontiac thread now that the loan is paid off or has the plan changed?

I know much can not be said but we could use a little GM speak at a hint.

Mr. Viagra:

Too bad the LX cars proved you wrong 5 years ago.

Not everyone can accommodate their needs w. a 2dr Camaro.

Which is why the (4 door!) 3.5 V6 & HEMI V8 Dodge Charger

is a great fit for many Family men (& women).

Trying to shove FWD, W-body sedans down everyone's throat

is NOT appealing to the masses.

Long live RWD.

Don't drink the Big Ed Kool-Aid, the loan is a fraction of the $50 billion GM received from the U.S Government. The hope is with the upcoming IPO, GM will be able to buy its shares back from the Feds. Jury is still out on that one.

As for the FWD Impala, think Impala Classic going to fleet only ... :smilewide:

WOW that's all I can say :ohyeah: GM REALLY will fleet Impala's(fwd) we get RWD Caprice/Imp.. GM's pulling one of their best moves from Old GM's playbook the ole "Classic".

Being unemployed I pray a lot about that but I'm praying that GM can buy back those Gov. owned shares they're almost in the same boat I'm in.

I was not speaking of Ed kool aide, I was going by you past post in the Pontiac thread. I just thought the loan you were speaking of was the up coming pay off that has just past. So you really mesn after the loan pay off, IPO and then the buy back of the 61% and it is still a big if.

The goal for the buy back is still 2014-2015 if all goes as planned?

Ed is the worst person to get any car related info from. The only info I get is watching the cars and designes behind him in the commercials.

Thanks for the GM speak on the Impala!

Sounds as with the changes in the FWD Impala and the Orlando kill there is some kind of a shake up for the future plans at Chevy with more changes coming? Or is this also another case of the Jury is still out and pending like the Pontiac deal?
