Chevy Truck News:Black Is Back: Chevrolet Introduces Silverado Midnight Edition

Recommended Posts

General Motors is going custom crazy with their trucks. In the past few weeks, the automaker has introduced the Chevrolet Silverado Custom Sport and GMC Canyon Nightfall Edition. Now at the National Automobile Dealers Association Convention & Expo in San Francisco, GM has introduced another custom package. Meet the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado Midnight Edition.

Like the Custom Sport, the Midnight Edition takes a Silverado Z71 and adds an all blacked-out treatment with body-colored grille, bumper, side moldings, and beltline moldings. A set of eighteen-inch wheels done up in black finish off the exterior.

“The Midnight special edition, like our recently announced Custom Sport Silverado, lets our dealers offer a custom look right from the factory. Customers can get a monochrome exterior, black alloy wheels and other uplevel touches, while maintaining all of the dependability Chevy trucks are famous for along with full factory warranty coverage,” said Sandor Piszar, Silverado marketing director.

Chevrolet says they will build 5,000 Midnight Edition Silverados in double and crew cab models. Pricing for the Midnight Edition will range from $1,595 to $1,995, dependent on the model.

Awesome, I still like the GMC better for style, but I love the all black model. Great to see GM doing these types of versions.

Interesting but I guess with the majority of the market going double or crew cabs they are taking the safe approach to building a more custom looking ride.

I like the GMC treatment better :

but seems to only be available on the double cab. I don't understand limiting an appearance package by body style in trucks- makes NO sense.

I like it but I think Jacket is right.  Ram Express is the perfect budget sport truck.  You can get an Express in multiple body styles, you can get it with vinyl floors and roll-up windows if you want, and you can get it now with V6 or Hemi engine.  Ram knows what the people want... flexibility in ordering.

I agree that GMC is the better looking of the two. Shame GM cannot see that people want these packages in base cabs also.

It's part of the reason why I would choose a new Ram over a new Silverado or Sierra.

Then again, I'd choose just about any truck out there over GM's dud-tastic duo.

It is better to sell a cheap truck that someone wants v. NO truck because the price is too damn high.

I agree I like the GMC truck better. Black on black is awesome good looking truck. Here where I live that is all you see. These trucks have really spiked over the years. I barely see Dodges, or Fords on the road anymore. GMC is making a big come back down in Georgia.

I like the look of the GMC better. However, this could also be the reason why they decided to add that color to their customization due to the competition.
