  1. • Firstly, GM has done this 'dual generation production' procedure numerous times in the past- predating any 'FCA playbook'. Malibu Classic comes to mind. • Secondly, the 'classic' '18/'19s aren't moving at MSRP; GM has advertised a nice discount for numerous months now. Add in the price increases for the Nu '19s and the price difference is considerable. • Thirdly, the vast bulk of Nu '19s being built so far seem to be Double Cab or Crew Cab/short beds; may well be a much wider body style selection on Ye Old '19s.

  2. A new report from the German publication Handelsblatt says that Ford and Volkswagen are considering expanding their partnership "that stands to change the German industry.” The two are reportedly looking into working together on autonomous tech and electric vehicle development. There are a number of ideas under consideration between two. One example is for Volkswagem's Moia self-driving subsidiary to take a 50 percent stake into Ford’s Autonomous Vehicles LLC. In return, Volkswagen could share their MEB toolkit with Ford on electric vehicles. The expansion in the partnership could also see Volkswagen buying combustion engines from Ford in an effort to reduce investments into diesel engines. Why are the two considering this expansion? For one, it would allow the two companies to pool their efforts to catch up with various competitors such as Tesla and Waymo, while saving cash. It is also being seen as a survival tactic in certain markets. Ford is struggling in Europe and South America, while Volkswagen is having issues in North America. Volkswagen's supervisory board will be holding a meeting later this month to consider whether or not it will expand this partnership. Source: Handelsblatt Global View full article

  6. In my family I drive the car I want (but of course needs to be practical enough for our family, that's why it is a sedan) and my wife drives the car she likes. Her car is usually does the family car duty most of the time but it is also something my wife enjoys driving. My car has manual transmission so she can't even drive it even if she wanted. Sometimes, it creates an inconvenience but I was not ready to sacrifice my driving enjoyment for some sole-less appliance. However, after I am done with my current car the plan is to get cheap practical daily and a weekend fun car.

  8. True.. but the Volt has something that the Model 3 doesn't have.. an ALTERNATIVE propulsion system that is easy to re-invigorate within about 3 minutes. And make no mistake I have said the same thing about the Bolt. Personally I am not on board with complete EV line-ups until the infrastructure to "fill-up" is in place everywhere a gas station is or at least as many. Range anxiety is real if for no other reason than some people simply forget. With the petrol situation its as easy as grabbing a damn jug.. hell a 2 liter coke bottle, walking 2 miles and filling it up with enough to get U to the next fill.. far as I know.. they don't make 2 mile long extension cords.. ? I stand by this even if Caddy decides that EV cars are a go. I think its a mistake to not keep a CT6 Plugin on the menu.. as much as I think Chevy should've long since expanded the VOLTEC fleet

  9. manufacturers need to proliferate their hybrid powertrains at decent price to their normal model lines. I know the camrys and accords already do this, but hybrids won't get to meanstream until they end up in lots more mainstream models. We are to a point where people want a normal looking car with the hybrid benefit for not much more price and they don't want to drive something that makes them look like an ecoweenie

  10. My local MB dealer has 257 2019s on the lot and 112 2018s. There's a glut over here. They even have 16 2017s (mostly unwanted sprinters/metris', but there is one leftover S550 too).

  11. • Fabricated a mounting plate; the trans crossmember is not quite aligned with the trans, so fashioned a 5/16-in steel plate to be able to bolt the 2 together. Unconventional for sure, but I see no reason it won't have excellent longevity/be no problem. • More planning on the header surgery, coming soon.

  14. Per Car & Driver, the Model S passenger volume is 94 cubic ft. Pretty f'd up that the smaller model is slightly bigger inside.

  15. Mercedes is the #1 selling luxury brand YTD, they are down but they aren’t losing to anyone else. It isn’t like these buyers are fleeing to somewhere else, they are more likely waiting for the model they want to be in inventory. The manufacturing and production people are the ones that need to step their game up to get all this new product out.

  16. I would upvote this by at least a thousand if I could. If Ford can keep up the corporate attitude I see in these videos and focus on what they do well they will win me back. In any relationship the key is to define what will make you happy if you are unhappy. In the case of Ford...build what you are passionate about. Jeep analogy is very well placed. I could see myself loving a Ford motor company that was passionate about Trucks...Mustangs...and SUVs...maybe Edge and one other. If they can stop trying to be all things to all people...they will win me back. Love...love...and love the new videos by Ford! I disagree. Trying to be everything to everybody is what has held them back IMHO. I really like the idea of a strong lean and Focused (pun not intended) Ford motor company.

  18. Have to disagree with you at the dealers around here are flush with auto's, they truly are having a sales slowdown. Maybe peoples preferences have changed and MB is being seen as more of a Toyota style dealer not the Luxury only dealer. When you have large inventory of C Class and below on the lots with Commercial vans out front, this does not say Luxury.

  24. Has anyone seen the new Built Ford Proud ads? The sales numbers for Ford and Lincoln apparently explain why these commercials exist: falling sales.

  26. It is amazing. It doesn't make me happy, though. Yesterday, I was at the dealership for service and sat in a GMC Acadia. Nice. A little pricey, too. The double sliding skylight didn't help. Well, I guess I should give up on ever seeing a reboot in the form of a svelte new Buick Riviera coupe.
