  1. honestly, RWD platform, 400hp v6, nice styling inside and out, this is an unexpected big win for Lincoln and Ford. And it will fund the next cop car/SUV chassis. My op of Ford is down the last few years but they did good with this one. May make the Cadillac XT67 look like crap possibly if it is lacking 400hp or a good dynamic chassis or LAVISH interior.

  2. It would be pretty cool to see a production Camaro with a drivetrain option like this, tuned for real world use.

  3. Yes, it's fantastic. If Lincoln can market it right it will become a segment leader.

  4. So let me fund Honda's vision.. or Toyota's.. or BMW's??? Protest change by funding other companies' change.. cause its coming.Best believe The "ABILITY TO DEAL WITH AN UNPAVED ROAD" part.. So by that U are saying that after U drove.. after the press drove the Blazer.. it couldn't deal with unpaved roads? Yeah.. because nothing says "we're a Jeep or Hummer" like matte black on the front... anyway.. Post a review.. any review.. and not just pamphlet words from an Autoshow Honda rep. Some one mentioned V6.. What did I miss? The Chevy has a V6 in the Premier and RS.. 3.6-liter V6 making 305 horses and 269 pound-feet vs the Passport's V6 @280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque.. OOOOOHHHHH.. because Honda decided to only give U one choice.. and we hate the fact that GM is giving us an engine choice... Price.. correct me if I'm wrong but they all start about the same projected price if the Ridgeline is an indicator.. OH! V6 vs V6 price only.. well there U got me.. but again I point to the fact that on the Chevy I'm getting more HP and more torque.. and the price of the Chevy with the V6 is coming with AWD.. cause the way y'all are kicking it the Honda comes with STANDARD AWD.. which is WRONG!!! Furthermore the Blazer AWD system is very capable as it is supposed to be the exact same as in the Acadia and XT5. Also.. far as I know.. and this the kicker. As of this writing.. a few months from now I walk into a Chevy dealership and the seemingly SAFE from Kill-Off SUV/CUV line-up is Trax, Equinox, Blazer, Traverse, Tahoe, Suburban.. at Honda.. HR-V, CR-V, Passport, Pilot.. I would say I'd rather take my chances at Chevy LMFAO at the idea that now we are hating on GM because it is embracing FAR-SIGHTEDNESS... because we love the smell of gas and oil. I promise U... I'm more of a car guy that many.. and if it comes to me having to buy a Corvette or Cadillac or Chevy.. a Buick.. hell a GMC.. with a power-train that is capable of 400+ Miles with me not having to spend $50-70 on gas... I'm all for it. Add in the benefits of Zero Emissions, extreme acceleration and extremely limited maintenance.. and I'm on board. On to a different portion of this.. Far as I know.. Autonomous driving will not be the only mode of transportation. If that is a setting.. I'm all for it. Plenty of times I hang out too long and dribk too much.. wouldn't have an issue with my car demanding I take a quick blow-Sobriety check and then say "Shut the f@#k up.. I'm driving Cmi.. "? Oh.. its gonna be an argument...? I'm gonna tell that car to f@#k off... but then its not gonna start.. have me sit there for a minute.. serve me another WhistlePig?.. and I'm gonna shut the f@#k up and awaaaaay we go.?

  5. Very true, companies have forgotten that they have to have base model, for people to afford and start out with. I see no reason to not have a base model car that has manual door locks, manual windows, no AC, basic AM/FM radio and minimal electronics as a starter auto for teens / college students.

  6. It has been a long time coming but Jeep has finally brought out the model that many have been clamoring for, a Wrangler pickup. This is the 2020 Gladiator and describing this a four-door Wangler with a bed is doing it a bit of disservice. Compared to the Wrangler, the Gladiator rides on a wheelbase that 19.4-inches longer and the frame has been extended by 31-inches. This increase in size does hurt off-road capability as the Gladiator has a lower breakover and departure angle when compared to the Wrangler. But that's the tradeoff you make for more utility. The bed comes in at five feet and is comprised of steel with an aluminum tailgate. Features for the bed include tie-down points, LED bed lighting, and power outlets. The rest of the Gladiator's design is the same as the Wrangler, down to the doors being removable and the choice of either a soft or hard-top. For the interior, Jeep has added a clever party trick. The rear bench seat can be folded flat to make for flat space for cargo. The seats can also be folded up 'stadium style' to reveal a set of pockets. Otherwise, the Gladiator's interior is the same as the Wrangler with a well laid out dash and the choice of either a 7 or 8.4-inch infotainment system. At launch, the Gladiator will come with 3.6L Pentastar V6 with 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. This can be teamed with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic. If you want some stump-pulling power, you need to wait until 2020 for a redesigned 3.0L turbodiesel V6 with 260 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. This will be paired with an eight-speed automatic only. No mention of fuel economy figures for either engine. The Gladiator promises to be quite capable, offering a max payload of 1,600 pounds and max towing of 7,650 pounds. For off-road adventures, the truck comes equipped with either a Command-Trac (two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio and a set of heavy-duty third-generation Dana 44 front and rear axles with a 3.73 rear axle ratio) or Rock-Trac 4x4 system (two-speed transfer case with a 4:1 low-range gear ratio and a electronic sway-bar disconnect). Jeep will begin producing the Gladiator in the first-half of next year at their Toledo, Ohio plant. Expect pricing to come out sometime before production kicks off. The 2020 Jeep Gladiator is available in these different trim configurations: Sport, Sport S, Overland and Rubicon. Built in Toledo, Ohio, the all-new 2020 Jeep Gladiator arrives in showrooms in the second quarter of 2019. Modern take on authentic Jeep design The all-new 2020 Jeep Gladiator boasts a rugged, distinguished design aesthetic that is immediately recognizable with traditional Jeep design cues. The Jeep design team kept the legendary seven-slot grille seen on Wrangler, but widened the grille slots for additional air intake to assist with the increased towing capacity. The top of the keystone-shaped grille is gently swept back to enhance aerodynamics. Gladiator Overland and Rubicon models offer available LED headlamps and fog lamps that project crisp white lighting, adding to the truck’s modern look. Gladiator models equipped with LEDs feature daytime running lights, which form a halo around the outside perimeter of the headlights. Forward turn signals are positioned on the front of the trapezoidal wheel flares. From behind, traditional square tail lamps feature available LED lighting and give way to a wide tailgate opening for unobstructed loading of cargo into the bed. The tailgate is damped and capable of stopping in three positions, while cargo is easily secured with a power-locking tailgate. Clever functionality and versatility were the focus while designing the Gladiator’s durable bed to streamline usability. Under-rail bed lighting, an available covered external power source (400W 115-volt, three-prong) and strong integrated tie-downs, provide durability and versatility. The available Trail Rail Cargo Management System provides additional storage options to organize and secure cargo. The full-size spare tire and mount is located under the bed, behind the rear axle and capable of holding up to a 35-inch tire. An available spray-in bed liner, bed divider and tonneau cover provide even more options to keep cargo secure while helping with durability. Gladiator Rubicon models are equipped with protective cab and cargo bed rock rails. A four-bolt design at the top of the windshield’s frame allows for the windshield to fold down quickly and easily. A header bar connects the A-pillars and stays in place even when the windshield is folded down. This allows the rearview mirror to remain in place even with the windshield folded. Two-piece body-color fender flares with a black lower insert give a raised profile and are standard on Overland and available on Rubicon models. Lightweight, high-strength aluminum doors feature the Torx bit size stamped directly onto the hinge to eliminate guessing which size bit is needed to remove the doors. A tool kit with the necessary Torx bits to remove the doors and lower the windshield is provided as standard equipment. All Gladiators feature body-color sport bars, which are welded to the body and feature integrated grab handles for front occupants. A premium Sunrider soft top provides a segment-exclusive easy open-air option, which helps to quiet wind noise and allows for access to partial and full open top positions. The soft top features retainers that slide into a track for easy rear window removal. Gladiator Overland and Rubicon models share an available three-piece body-color hardtop option, offering a unique, premium appearance, while a black three-piece hardtop, available on all models, offers even more options for open-air driving. The two Freedom panels and quick-release latches enable a fast removal and installation of the hardtop. All hardtops feature a manual rear-sliding window. Dozens of different door, top and windshield combinations allow for endless configuration possibilities. Authentic interior design boasts premium features and technology The new 2020 Jeep Gladiator’s interior combines authentic styling, versatility, comfort and intuitive feature use. Jeep functionality and versatility are celebrated in the center console and distinguished with metal-plated accents. The center console houses gear shift selection, transfer case and parking brake. Real bolts featured on the shifter, grab handles and the infotainment screen’s frame highlight genuine construction methods. A push-button starter, featuring a weather-proof surround, is standard on the 2020 Gladiator and is easily located within the driver’s reach. Cloth or leather-contoured seats feature accent stitching and adjustable bolster and lumbar support. Available comfort features include heated front seats and steering wheel. All-new rear seats feature high-quality premium materials giving the seats an athletic look that also delivers comfort and support. The rear seats, exclusive to Gladiator, feature segment-leading rear legroom and utilizes a unique design that can be locked in place to provide secure storage behind the seat back. The rear seats can be folded flat to access cab-back storage and provide a load floor for larger items. With the rear seats folded flat, LED lights on the quarter trim panels illuminate the storage space behind the seats. Two storage nets on the cab-back wall provide even more secure storage. Clever storage solutions are found throughout the 2020 Gladiator, including durable mesh pockets that extend the entire length of the doors and numerous phone storage areas. The rear seat cushions can fold up into “stadium” position to reveal a standard open storage bin, which utilizes the space under the seat for stowing miscellaneous items. An optional lockable bin provides secure storage space when the top or doors are removed. The available lockable storage bin features two different size doors that correspond to the 60/40 split rear seat cushion. Removable dividers can provide up to five separate compartments and uses the same lock as the glove box and center console. A removable bolt bin fits in the under-seat storage space and makes it easy to secure bolts when the doors and top are removed, or the windshield is folded down. The bolt bin lid indicates the corresponding number of bolts and their location under the lid in Petroglyph style. The driver and front passenger vinyl-wrapped door-trim panels are soft to the touch. Lift-Assist handles under each door armrest feature an integrated pull-cup design that makes door removal quick and easy. Convenience features include passive entry with Keyless Go. The instrument cluster features a 3.5- or an available 7-inch thin-film transistor (TFT) information LED display. The 7-inch LED display allows the driver to configure information in more than 100 ways, including current media being played, tire pressure, tire-fill alert or digital speed readout. Integrated buttons on the steering wheel control audio, voice and speed functions, allowing the driver to keep hands on the wheel at all times. A 7.0- or an available 8.4-inch touchscreen houses the fourth-generation Uconnect system and sits prominently atop the center stack. The fourth-generation Uconnect system enhances the user interface and system performance with quicker startup times and improved screen resolution. A 5.0-inch touchscreen is standard on Gladiator Sport. Directly below the touchscreen are functional features, such as climate and volume control knobs and media connectivity ports. 7. I disagree. The problem with the Electric Car -- apart from the inconvenience from the inability to be recharged in a the few minutes it takes to refuel a conventionally power car -- is that the cost of the battery (about $12,000 for a 60kWh Li-Ion pack) -- exceeds the fuel cost of an equivalent gasoline powered car over 125,000 miles or the lifetime of the battery. This is not counting the cost of electricity it costs to recharge the battery pack. That is why electric cars need subsidies to attract normal buyers who are not worshipers of the Global Warming fraud.. The Golden Age of Industrialization is over in the USA because -- over the last seven decades -- we allowed foreign produced goods (including cars) to be imported into the USA will minimal or no tariffs, even from countries which charge significant tariffs for our exports -- China has a 25% tariff on cars, EU has 10%, whereas the USA has tariffs at 0~2.5%. This is not called Free Trade. It is called Stupid Trade. It's called an unequal treaty. This is the kind of agreement which countries sign when enemy tanks are on the capitol lawn! Except of course our politicians galdly sign it because the were never negotiating in the best interest of the American people or the USA nation. They were acting in the best interest of multinational corporations which cannot careless about the rise and fall of nations as long as they get to make their profits somewhere in the world. This is not to mention the fact that Free Trade itself is suicide and fundamentally incompatible with social policies like a minimum wage, safety nets, environmental standards and labor laws. You can have a high living standards for your workers or you can have Free Trade. You cannot have both! Else, all the $h! hole countries will build everything, you will buy everything, the outflow of wealth from your country will continue until you are poor and they are rich. It's not rocket science.

  9. a lot.. and I mean A LOT of bull$h! in this quote. Still laughing at the "Cadillac is Toast" part.. because honestly.. even if Cadillac continued to produce the CT6, the only car being lost to them that wasn't known to be getting an axe., past 2019.. when were U planning on buying one in the first place?? Blazer has more cargo space than the Equinox..of this we know. Single compelling??? Marketing aside.. they do sell a $h! load of vehicles.. Trucks, SUVS, CUVs, Sports cars, Supercar, EVs..lotta bases covered.. I don;t think this news impacts sales very much considering the change in consumer tastes Then I'm wrong... I have it on good authority that they will simulate the noises if that's what U are looking for.. either way.. screw it.. U hate it then hate it.. I personally would love to have access to this engine for everyone of my vehicles.. from Z06 to CTS-V to Impala LTZ to Impala SS to Cruze to Yukon.. and that's a fact

  10. mind boggling.. seriously.. zero fuel, engine can be bolted up to a current transmission.. zero emmisions.. torque at git.. 0-60 in under 3 seconds and can STILL handle like a... a... CAMARO... OH.. its a GM product. If Ford produced it I bet someone would be singing praises.

  14. Haven't written this much in a while on any forum..? Anyone notice that COROLLA sales are down 15%? Civic 28%? This is a real thing. Cars, at least in every segment outside of Sports and Mid are simply dying.. as one can get a categorized TALL-CAR for the same price with more room and similar fuel economy. This is not the days of U had to buy a compact to get great fuel economy.. no.. the CUVs are getting similar fuel economy to the cars. In other word this isn't a time anymore where it was a Cavalier vs a TrailBlazer.. the time now is a Cruze vs a Trax or Equinox

  15. Bolt had it's best month this year in October, moving 2075 units. But it still trails the Volt by 1000 units on the year and 2000 is nothing to write home about. Cruze is doing about 37,000 units/month. Bolt is only "selling well" for an electric car, but it's selling very poorly for a small car. Cruze is rumored/supposedly going away, assumedly/supposedly for profitability reasons. Think on that one a bit.

  16. It seems that old guys in blinding bright golf shirts are the only ones who want to put miles on electric conveyances. Non-street legal.

  17. Yep, I think I have the last of them....a 2003 and 2004 base Cavaliers. Neither one has power anything! And I can count the issues I have had on one hand.... ?

  18. Sadly I see way too many young people more engrossed in social media on their smartphone and using Uber / Lyft than wanting to drive. ?‍♂️

  19. Well, as much as I like the Blazer, at least the Passport has balls....something I actually EXPECTED the Blazer to come with. Hell, they could at least made some use out of this cute Ute and throw a modded 3.6 and made a hot rod model out of it... That said, I’m less worried about electric cars/trucks, more more worried about the lack of people who want to buy them. Car nuts like us could argue all day over what we want in out cars, but the reality is most younger folk don’t want to drive, or even waste the money on one so they can spend more time/money on their phones or lifestyle. We are but a dying breed here guys.....I at least find comfort that my 10 year old son cares and wants to be a car guy.... Self driving and public transportation is the future....please shoot me now. They’ll have to pry the steering wheel out of my cold, dead hands.........

  20. EVERYBODY is "planning on being profitable", yet the gutters & storm drains of history are PACKED with failures.

  21. Nice. It is really nice. It will hopefully be a hit like Navigator. How is it Lincoln makes unashamed American luxury and Cadillac does not? They got this vehicle right. Lincoln has quietly been rebuilding the brand. I think Lincoln is doing suv's and crossovers like they did luxury cars back in the day.

  22. I think it’s like a a Wrangler Unlimited with a big trunk. Pretty cool.

  23. Aviator seems like it targets where an XT6 or XT7 would be. They already have the MKC (Corsair) and MKX (Nautilus) to target the XT4 and XT5.

  24. 5ft bed is more than useful for most buyers, 6ft or 8ft is not needed by the bulk of buyers running to the nursery or Home Depot for weekend projects. Jeep has clearly judged their buyers right as weekend projects or off road play / camping. Commercial work of a 6 or 8 ft bed is covered just fine by GM, Ford and Ram.

  25. So... U proved me right?? Even more to the point was that the Blazer was created to give the Chevy brand a more Sporty and upscale CUV. Thus far..at least in looks.. the vehicle accomplishes that in spades. Incremental size variations are what they are. Interesting. The Trax/Equinox/Blazer/Traverse essentially are supplanting the Sonic/Cruze/Malibu/Impala dynamic.

  26. ?? I'm even fine with hybrid sports cars but I just can't get behind a pure EV one quite yet.

  27. To take that even further.. Why buy almost anything with a luxury badge? There are an incredible amount of high end features available on non-luxury badged vehicles these days.

  28. Badge snobbery is far from rational. Why buy a compact FWD German car indeed when you can get this instead.

  29. Love the look inside and out, especially the Mocha brown interior just rocks. ONE BIG PROBLEM - Way too much baby boomer Chrome! WTF ?‍♂️ I honestly do not get why people think Chrome on everything makes it look better and is luxury. I hope they have a monochromatic option.

  30. Dave, $10K is not enough. Rivian said something about 1 million sales, didn't they? Tesla has taken 15 years to reach what- 160K/yr with 3 models? Silverado. et al, start in the low 30s. Starting where your competition ends their pricing is an iron-clad guarantee of niche-level sales - show me ANY model moving 250K in the US at a $70K base MSRP - I'll wait.

  31. There is, but I think it's not published yet. I saw all the pictures come through earlier. It seems like Gallery images often appear before articles, I guess it's part of the publishing process. Or maybe I thought I saw them...I have been reading articles on Jalopnik and Autoblog today, they all run together after a while. Spoke too soon..it's there now.

  32. But there’s a simple truth. GM simply can’t build a decent car for the life of them. Their new trucks for example. No real revolution other than bed tech that even an FCA on life support and the incumbent F150 are seen as fresher options. Their crossovers for the large part are still too damn small. Why the hell is this Blazer smaller inside than an Equinox! Yet $$$$ to start? Like it or not, there is not a single compelling model car from GM, not they they’re bad cars, but they were marketed just plain wrong. Cadillac is toast as far as I’m concerned with ever being considered a sport sedan player. Which is too bad. 20 new EVs? Half of them are from China folks. You’ll see a face lifted Buick Velite and such. That’s their plan.

  33. It's a very sharp and clean design. I like the interior design, and that two tone w/ burgundy looks great.

  34. I think the thinking is that if the Volt is dead... those sales will probably go right to the Bolt. I could see that too. The Volt is at Detroit-Hamtramck which is getting the axe.. furthermore the Volt was up for a redo in 2020.. Who says that the Volt is really dead? It may just being renamed and reconfigured (FINALLY) to be a CUV EV in line with the Bolt. AGAIN..

  35. Seemingly getting brushed aside in all the talk of 'GM trucks are Too Damned High priced'; the Rivian is coming in at $eventy thou$and dollar$. This is where journalistic hype tips it's hand- the market out there is NOT going to swallow any considerable volume at those prices; it's not a feasible business case. Jaguar is just a niche player; going all EV will only cement that status thru at least the next decade.

  36. Did some scaling and it appears -proportionally- the numbers are correct. 136" WB, 198" OL is a diff of 62". 275/65R20s are 34" in diameter, so 136" plus (2) half tires (17" + 17") = 170", leaving 28" of total overhang. Scaling off the screen makes it look really close. Despite being only 198" long, the SUV must be bigger in person that via pics. Here it's over a 133" wheelbase '66 Fleetwood (overall length: 228").

  37. These base auto's were very trouble free due to the lack of electronics and ease of maintenance. Think how solid a base auto from any auto company would be if it was all manual with minimal gov required safety devices. It could with proper maintenance outlast many more expensive auto's.

  40. Toyota has admitted they felt Hydrogen was the way to go and ignored electric, Tesla forced them to stop wasting money on Hydrogen and build a late to the party EV team. They are looking at 2025 for full blown EV offerings. Myself and many others have stated when the right options come along people will buy and everyone according to you is afraid of making money on EVs. Yet those that do will surpass and replace those that do not. Rivian has full size Pickup and SUV and that WILL APPEAL to the masses more than Tesla. This is one company that I do expect to stick around and last.

  41. Do not tell Musk that. Course if you build a full size truck and SUV plus use an existing real auto assembly line, they could probably build and sell profitable a pure ev product line like Rivian is planning to do.

  43. yeah- no WAY is that a 136" wheelbase. It would really help if the dimensions were expressed 'bi-systematically'. SUV looks fairly good from the rear, side & proportionally, but I'm not liking the front end at ALL.
