  1. I was going to wait until I ordered and consumed some chocolate cake today. In the midst of Sunday shopping, I made some time to do just that and have a cup of coffee with it. I'm hoping a slice of chocolate truffle pie counts. Delicious! One of the highlights of that movie was the Irma Bunt character. Not in a good way, but still a highlight of that movie … a most unique villain(ess) within the 007 series of films. My friends and I had a field day with her.

  4. Now I just need to sell a 2015 200S. ? If anyone knows someone who is interested, let me know! I picked up a 2018 Cadillac CTS Luxury 2.0T a couple of days ago. Here are my initial impressions: The suspension is not as stiff as I have heard other people say. It absorbs the bumps pretty well with no real harsh impacts but it does squirm around quite a bit on the heavily potholed Michigan roads The 2.0T is a bit unrefined but has plenty of power for the application The stop/start occasionally causes the car to shudder on the stop and almost always causes a shudder on the start. It is pretty quite though. Kind of the opposite of the stop/start on our Pacifica. On the Pacifica it is smooth but loud. The 2018 version of CUE is vastly improved over the version I drove a few years ago. It oddly enough is still slow on the Radio station changes using the steering wheel buttons, though. I've only had it for a couple of days and I still haven't explored all the features yet. I'll post more comments as I get more familiar with the car. If you guys have any questions, let me know!

  5. I guess since reg gave an update, I should as well. ? I still love this thing. I don't get the hate for minivans. I now understand why my Dad was so infatuated with them when I was younger. They are just an all around great vehicle. It essentially does everything an SUV/CUV can do but it does it better with the exception of towing. Both of my kids love it and think it is the best vehicle ever. I'd blame that on the entertainment system but we don't let them use it unless we are going to be in the car for more than 30 minutes and even on short trips they would rather take the van than my CTS. That's no knock on the CTS. More of a testament to the van. It now has close to 12,000 miles on it. No issues to speak of. One oil change and other than that, no trips to the dealer. It gets pretty good gas mileage for such a big vehicle. See the attached pic. Note that this is not typical but it can do this in the correct conditions. Having calculated other tanks, I'd say you can knock 1 MPG off what the VIC is showing but still impressive none the less.

  6. Of course, the article is spot-on. Those who come here on a regular basis may have heard me say something to this effect, a time or two. Or three. Or 300. ?

  7. I agree. Same thing happened with hybrids. Only a major oil shock will change that.

  9. Kiss Me Deadly was awesome, and the video is, well, memorable. Lots of writhing with a guitar. How can you lose?. Shot of Poison, Playing With Fire, those are good songs too. Joan Jett obviously had many more hits. Lita had more 'dangerous curves'. Shot of Poison is a tremendous video also... https://youtu.be/UqQ0R7OXYVY http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/lita-ford-i-had-affairs-with-a-lot-of-guitar-players-and-a-lot-of-lead-singers-in-the-music-industry/

  10. Homemade apple pie and 2 huge tablespoons full of Nutella (yes, just Nutella on that spoon) for me for dessert just now! And there are several Bond girls that my friends and I would like to have a field day with. More like a roll in the hay rather than a field day... But yeah! Bond girls...

  12. And welcome to what will be known as the @dfelt/basketball player seat space tests. To begin, the front seat does go a way decent way down - but not all way the way to the floor. I was able to stick my hand vertically with no issue. Now, I think most tall people will not have any issues if you avoid the sunroof. My tester lacks it and there is a large cutout in the roof panel. With my seat in place, I have about 5 to 7 inches of space between my head. At first glance, I thought the Silverado would be ok with the front seat all the way back as I found the standard seating position to be similar to a large luxury sedan. But putting the seat all of the way back, I found that I had a small gap between my knees and the seat. I'll work on getting some photos later in the week to illustrate this.

  13. https://bangshift.com/general-news/drinking-habits-the-four-cylinder-chevrolet-silverado-drinks-more-than-the-v8-in-testing/?fbclid=IwAR3OmZh5Jwg0v39YtfaoKsAwWifrjTMNvt5ERrfoG0oohpI_NsIXewM817c SOOOOO... the 5.3 betters the 2.7, and the SIX POINT TWO equals it, for fuel mileage? Just goes to prove that the Chevrolet smallblock is the PERFECT engine to power these trucks. Nothing comes close! Yuge waste of engineering dollars, the 2.7, imho.

  15. Batteries will get better and so will the charge network. If there was a better charge network people wouldn't think they need 250-300 miles of range, which adds cost for a lot of battery you aren't using. 0% of buyers buy a gas powered car based on mileage range, because gas stations are all over the place. If there is more electric charging stations, people would probably be happy with 150-200 mile range electrics which would help get cost down. Also "electrified" could mean a hybrid Sierra. And really, why wouldn't you do some form of hybrid on every gas engine you have? Adding electric to any engine makes it better.

  17. Maybe you should ask them but I am willing to bet that Tesla already has a fair number of repeat buyers. I see what you’re saying but what you are suggesting involves a crystal ball. My theory is that once EVs become mainstream, there will be lower cost options, just like there are with ICE autos. To add to that point, I will say that it’s not like ICEs have been all that affordable over the last few decades. Sorry but when Civics option out over $30K, we have a problem that is much bigger than whether EVs can compete.

  20. Electrics failed because gas was and is cheap and batteries were either too weak to do the job or too expensive to justify sales. Once the batteries are actually superior to gas and charging is as fast as filling up, sales should rise significantly. Give them at least 10-15 years for that to happen.

  21. Actually battery costs have dropped but other technologies that have been crammed into the phone have pushed the prices higher. It’s higher price has next to squat to do with the battery.

  22. It is not a matter of IF it is a matter of WHEN. One day batteries will be cheap, that is how technology works. I think one day an electric will cost the same as a similar horsepower gas car. We just don’t know when that day is.

  25. I think were are, or should be, just about done with the EV having to be different just to stand out to tell people you "care" for the environment. EVs are just about getting ready for the big time mainstream spotlight. No need for this weird styling. That was all crap marketing and the folk that bought into that just wanted to pat themselves on the back "for doing the right thing" Poseurs and posturing. All hypocritical.

  26. She was smokin hot for her time, Great face, small everything else if you like woman that way! In regards to Cadillac, I really Hope they DO NOT go down the road of EV weirdness like the Qoros from China that came out. This is like a hell baby of crossbreeding Cadillac with Nissan.

  27. We took this on a 2200 mile family vacation road trip in early July. Here are my comments: The seats are supremely comfortable! Way better than the old T&C and better than my 200S as well. I have neck and back issues and usually take ibuprofen before hitting the road but it was not necessary in this at all. No complaints from the kids in the back seats either! Turns out you can play a different movie on each screen off the same USB stick. The kids were quite pleased with this! The built-in WiFi worked like...... well, WiFi. As expected I guess you would say. The downside is that it is a 5G system so it was useless with my kids 2.4G Kindle Fire's The factory Nav worked well on the whole but checking it against Google maps there were a couple of instances where Google maps had a more time efficient route I did not try Android Auto on the trip but I did use it last weekend for a 2 hour road trip and it connected easily and worked flawlessly with Google maps navigation I have the gas receipts and did calculate each tank. Most the time the VIC was optimistic by 1 - 1.5 MPG over actual but I did have one tank that calculated out a little higher than VIC predicted. I did not calculate overall trip MPG but I would guess it was around 26 MPG including a lot of remote starts (it was smoking hot weather) and a fair amount of in town driving at each stop including in the mountains in Tennessee Rain-X is awesome! We hit rainstorms in the Kentucky and Tennessee that had people pulling over with their flashers on and we never even had to turn the wipers on! I'm a long time but occasional Rain-X user and what I applied came out of a 10-15 year old bottle and still worked flawlessly. Overall I rate this van very, very highly. If it doesn't have any reliability issues, it's going to be an awesome vehicle!

  28. Hey Reg, I forgot but did you buy or lease your T&C? The reason I ask is because I was shocked what I was able to get for ours when we sold it. We had bought our 2013 used off lease and we got a pretty good deal on it but not spectacular. There were others around in the price range. After 2.5 years of ownership I was able to sell it for only $3.5k less than what I paid for it! And at that the guy that bought it was very happy with the price. Most of the comparable ones in my area were listed for at least $1500 more than I listed mine for and I live in metro Detroit so there is no shortage of them around.

  29. It's funny you say that about the hybrid. My wife is the primary driver of this and she only has a 5 mile commute to work. We STRONGLY considered the hybrid. There are no deals to be had, though. Yes, the $7500 back from the government but dealers are giving hardly any extra markdown and there are no rebates. The lease deals are horrible. We were originally going to wait until fall to see if they would blow out the MY18 hybrids that they didn't try too hard to sell/lease during the model year but got a good enough deal on this gas powered one to pull the trigger now. One thing they need to fix if they want to sell/lease the hybrid to your average Joe, the dealerships need to keep one charged up for test drives. We didn't try too many dealerships but none of the ones we did try kept one charged. It would be nice to know how they drive on pure electricity if that is how you are going to be driving it 95% of the time. No need to be sorry! These things are awesome. You are the one missing out. ?

  31. You know what, these drive so nice.... and they finally made a mini-van that actually looks good. This is really the best crossover alternative out there that can still do all the hauling a crossover can do and more. I know @ocnblu would make fun of me for it, but I'd get the plug-in version... if only because it adds a bunch more scoot to the pentastar.
