  1. Fun Fact: Mercedes X-Class has a base engine with 161hp. Now you're getting it!

  2. It’s the GM cycle. New model comes out. Priced way too high can’t lease or buy but room for incentives later in time. Cycle the new model intros so they don’t overlap each other. Buyer has to choose between newest thing at full price or older model in the other brand that’s about the same price with discounts. I’ve been hard on the XT5 but in real world price comparo to Blazer I have a lot more appreciation for XT5.

  4. The first time I knew that color was a thing was at the STL Auto Show and it blew my tits off. It's such an awesome color and fits the TRD theme/style perfectly without being a bland or obnoxious. I LOVE it,

  8. @Drew Dowdell @caddycruiser @regfootball @Robert Hall So I decided to compare the XT5 AWD to the Blazer RS AWD and in getting as close as possible in matching vehicles. The XT5 comes out cheaper in both total cost and leasing. This just DOES NOT make sense for GM.

  9. Ahead of the Geneva Auto Show, Volkswagen has unveiled the R version of their T-Roc crossover. The T-Roc is a small crossover not (yet?) sold in the U.S. that slots below the Tiguan and most directly related to the Volkswagen Golf. Standard models went into production for the European market in 2017. That brings us to 2019 and the unveiling of the 2020 Volkswagen T-Roc R. The T-Roc R is the new top of the line for the T-Roc range. Shown above as a nearly production ready concept, the T-Roc R gets many of the upgrades the Golf R gets. That includes a 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder producing 296 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Power is routed to the standard 4Motion Haldex all-wheel drive via a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. That will hustle the T-Roc from 0-62 mph in 4.9 second with an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. Keeping all that power on the ground is a Golf R sports suspension that is lower to the ground and a standard progressive steering system. Drive modes help keep control and include a race mode and launch control that manages and maximized torque. The electronic stability control can be switched off for driving at the limit and 17-inch brakes help to bring it all to a stop. For now, the entire T-Roc line remains Forbidden Fruit in the U.S., but with crossover sales increasing rapidly, perhaps Volkswagen can be persuaded to send it over. Volkswagen Press Release on Page 2 New T-Roc R combines performance and lifestyle Volkswagen is set to present the T-Roc R, new top model for the successfully launched crossover product line, at the Geneva International Motor Show (7– 17 March 2019). Developed by Volkswagen R, this powerful vehicle boasts some impressive performance data: its four-cylinder TSI engine with 2.0 litre capacity and an output of 221 kW/300 PS as well as torque of 400 Nm. The standard combination with 7-gear DSG and 4Motion all-wheel drive ensures excellent acceleration without any loss of traction. The Volkswagen T-Roc R can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h. The sports running gear (with lowered suspension) ensures ideal road holding. Progressive steering comes as standard and plays a part in ensuring agile driving behaviour; the 17-inch brake system provides effective braking. The driving modes include a special race mode, which guarantees an especially sporty driving experience. These measures are supplemented by the launch control feature, which provides optimal traction during acceleration while offering maximum drive torque and a corresponding stability management program. The ESC Electronic Stability Control feature can be manually switched off to ensure particularly dynamic driving at the limit. The sporty characteristics of the T-Roc R are underscored by the unmistakable design on the exterior and in the interior. The redesigned radiator grille has a polished silver band of anodised aluminium on the underside that runs the entire width of the vehicle. The bumper’s model-specific design is painted the same colour as the car. The light units in the vertically arranged daytime running lights are integrated into the front. The rear bumpers include visual air outlets in the upper part and an “R” diffuser in a contrasting colour. The double-ended exhaust system on both the left and right are specific to the “R” model. The T-Roc R is equipped with 18-inch Spielberg alloy wheels as standard. The 19-inch Pretoria Dark Graphite matte alloy wheels and 235/40 R19 tyres are available as an optional extra. The sill panel trims sport a stainless steel design and have the “R” logo, which can also be seen on the radiator grille and on the sides of the vehicle. The “R” logo is also displayed on the backs of the seats. The leather multifunction sports steering wheel with paddle levers and decorative stitching in Crystal Grey also shows its sporty side with the “R” logo, as does the black headliner and the greeting on the start screen. The pedals shimmer in stainless steel. The new crossover model for performance and lifestyle is based on the harmonious concept of the T-Roc, 200,000 units of which have already been sold. The new T-Roc R expands the broad range of the compact crossover with an emphatically sporty model for individualists who attach as much importance to a stylish appearance as to outstanding driving performance. 10. Wait- is it all about HP? Or is it all about torque? Where & when does HP/liter enter into it? And how does one weigh those things against sales? Gets confusing, doesn't it? That's why I like to blindly accept whatever slop a brand shovels forth, as long as it's the SAME, ONE brand. Keeps my head-lid from getting too sweaty.

  11. What's wrong with them? Do they suit the purpose of the truck? Not everything needs to go to a 2.0T thanks.

  12. A Golf R starts at $40,395 here in the US. The T-Roc would likely be at least that.

  13. I like the removable roof. The smaller engine might be slow, but it's surprisingly smooth and has a good manual transmission. Where they fall down for me is on the interior. I want something more luxury oriented even if it is small. I'll stick with my slow but more luxury Encore for that.

  18. If I HAD TO buy a minivan, I must admit to liking the Chrysler Pacifica. I rented one two years ago and I was most impressed by the UConnect and the built-in navigation system. Compared to a lot of other ones it seems to be the best one.

  19. I don’t really like the styling, but I’ve long liked the 4Runner for its off road capabilities. The TRD Pro looks good in Calvary Blue. Nice color. One Toyota guilty pleasure for me would be a late model Land Cruiser. Great off-road and they run forever, albeit rather dated inside.

  23. It depends on how they went about it. If they just used Prius as a name for their Hybrids, that probably would have been fine. "Toyota Highlander Prius" rolls off the tongue easier than Toyota Highlander with Hybrid Synergy Drive. If they created a whole separate model lineup for Prius like they did for Scion, then no, I don't think that would have worked out, especially now with everyone introducing hybrid versions of everything.

  24. Why bother when they can just apply the Prius technology to their existing Toyota lineup and give the customers who want Hybrids, hybrids or EVs on the same named and looking platform as those that want their ICE auto. I think a Prius sub-brand would be killed just like Toyota's last sub-brand.

  26. Good old Olds! Ford had an Ad spot addressing this for the Ford Escape Hybrid years ago. The problem is the Pruis C is small. Even with the seats down you don't get a lot of cargo room.

  27. I think it might possibly be one of, if not THE, best first vehicles for a new driver. They're slow, they appear to have great visibility, there's room for school/sports/extra curricular activities, upright seating position, available manual transmission, and if you live in the snow belt there's AWD available for you as well(even with a manual transmission).

  28. A bit of a random anecdote relating to Priuses.. I talked w/ a buddy of mine in Colorado recently...10 years back, he had a Prius as his commuter car --had a 100 mile commute daily...(he also got a Challenger SRT when they first came out for a weekend car), now he has a Tesla Model 3 as the commuter car and a Challenger Hellcat as his weekend car..

  30. The Prius is kind a last decade phenomenon...hybrids are old news now; battery EVs are the 'green thing' now.. Then there is the Mirai...more exotic technically and weirder looking than the Prius.
    1 point
  31. I'm not sure the 'seen as green' thing is much of a thing anymore WRT the prius. Used to hear plenty of chatter along those lines, I don't anymore. Seems now more like 'yeah, yeah, you got a prius' So what? - - - - -

  32. Yes but most Prius owners want to BE SEEN as green. A RAV4 hybrid does not signal such virtues like a Prius.

  37. Meh, with the age of our fleet, I could just dump the Equinox on the wife.. ? Besides being a bit more plasticy than I like and the stop start issue, the Nox is a pretty nice ride. Even just having an LS offers me quite a bit.... I think if I could sock a little more in funds to go to the Nox, I could see a nice Jeep in the near future.......

  38. Another great point. The XT4/XT5 siblings aren't even wowzers, but for the same price...or less...than a "OMG it's a Blazer!" why would you not? No doubt, also, the lease on an XT5 right now is lower than a Blazer as well. This may be, one of the worst bizarrely overpriced products GM has intro'd. $42k max, for a V6 RS. Great. With an Equinox Premier 2.0T maxing at $36k... Who'd think. They might even sell more vs. "but the transaction prices end up closer to there after random rebates, AARP and GM card..."

  40. I've been told that the old 2.0 may be rated to run best on 91-93 but that it can run fine on 87 'top tier' gas is what is recommended. My Malibu 1.5 turbo loves plain 87 octane junk gas and in fact if i put 91 or 93 in it it can have a shit fit (check engine light). The new one is defintely slower. Might be a bit better on gas mileage and is designed to run on plain 87 octane. But i am beginning to believe that the old 2.0 is a nice proven engine and does a good job with the power it does put out.

  47. Saw a 1995 or 1996 Buick Regal GS coupe in metallic gold (meh) and with the rear trunk lid luggage treatment (not good). What I thought was interesting was the transition from hood ornament to the Buick medallion laid flat, Euro style. It was in near perfect condition. Amazing that this was a 23+ year old car. I sort of liked my hood ornament on that car but I don't think they work well with the GS trim. The medallion made more sense.
