  1. Original (and only) 4-door coupe- the floral coach coupe ~

  2. That is one of the best looking luxury cars of the 1980s! Few, if any, have that kind of gravitas.

  3. That color is amazing. I've been into dark "colors" a lot lately. Dark reds/blues/greens are towards the top of my lists right now.

  4. That has nothing to do with it being a car vs CUV. I think there being this kind of debate over it being a car or a CUV is EXACTLY what the rest of us have been saying. It's styling is of a hybrid car/cuv. It's ugly for that reason, imo. It doesn't look car enough to be a car and it doesn't look CUV enough to be a CUV. It's just an ugly middle ground.

  5. This person is the (literally) biggest troll on this site. And he is left unchecked by the powers that be. This is the first mention of EVs in this thread... and I could list untold numbers of other threads where EV's are brought up inappropriately by him. And do not get me started on his myriad political posts that go completely unchecked in inappropriate places. You don't have to believe wiki... but there is a link shown where you can go to GM material and see for yourself.

  6. Agreed and I imagine China will be the super power of the world in 20 years. It won’t be the USA given their population size and economic growth rate.

  7. Now it does depend on the year with those. Here, the 1st gen models go up to $15K (until you get to 2011) and those tend to be the 550/AMG varieties. The mileage is a killer though because you know that after 100K, German cars start forcing themselves into your bank account with your money screaming “#METOO”! Very much unwanted for most folks. Nice and rare.

  8. It doesn't do it for me like the CLS has. The only other one to pull it off, IMO, is the Audi 7's. Completely agree. I actually just looked at Autotrader for them to see what they cost and you're still spending the better part of 20k for a pretty high mileage German car.. Not a situation I would like to be in for that amount of cash.

  9. There aren't a whole lot of vehicles where I prefer the older generations but the CLS looks best in its first generation, then second and the newest seems to be less CLS-like to me. ..I think there are only three generations..lol I don't know a whole lot about the technical stuff but I would assume they lowered and fattened the torque curve as well along with reduced lag. It's probably a blast to daily drive with those numbers.

  10. The first CLS is still one of the sexiest sedans ever, IMO...love that shape..and 2nd gen is beautiful also..the 3rd gen looks great also...It doesn't look good in some colors like the stupid matte colors or so-predictable and beyond lame white w/ black wheels (can the damn white w/ black wheels fad please end??) but in brown is stunning. I love the arched roofline and low windows of all 3 windows.

  11. While the coupe style has been a mixed bag for me, I have always liked the CLS. Don’t know why but it pulls off the coupe look nicely. The one driven in “Ray Donovan” is super nice.

  13. Helping sales or not, I’ve seen a few around town and cannot look around that hideous Asztek rear end. Just horrible. The presence of a CVT does not help its cause but I think all CVTs should be burned with dragon fire.

  14. Gotta say, that is an attractive compact car. Probably the best looking Sentra ever.

  16. The Bolt is a one-box monospace. Tall hatchback. Car? CUV? Transport pod? It's something...

  17. While I still like to fill up, free chargers could be the push I need to get a Bolt. 250 miles would get me about a week’s charge as well. Even with a bit a shopping, it makes it a nice deal. Plus, I can still hear the roar of an engine with the cost savings on the charging....

  19. Nissan unveiled the Nissan Sylphy at the Shanghai Auto Show earlier this month and spies have caught it in the US virtually confirming it will be coming to the US as the next generation Nissan Sentra. Looking like a mini-Nissan Altima, Nissan says the chassis is now much stiffer and they have gone and improved the suspension and steering feel. The interior has been made to look much more luxurious with quilted seats and a slicker looking dashboard. The infotainment system is a 8-inch TFT screen and the driver gets a 7-inch TFT gauge cluster. Nissan's ProPilot Assist will be available and includes things like collision warning, blind spot warning, lane departure warning, cross traffic alert, and others. No details yet on powertrain except that Nissan says the 4-cylinder engine and CVT have been updated.

  20. Cadillac is aiming to boost its dealership network in China to about 500 stores by 2025, about a 65% increase over the 302 it has in operation today. Cadillac President Steve Carlisle said that Cadillac in China has become a credible alternative to the German luxury brands, and that their average buyer age is 32 years old. Cadillac has plans to introduce a new Cadillac model every 6 months through 2021. Carlisle also announced that Cadillac will release a refresh of the Cadillac XT5 later this year. Cadillac sold over 205,000 vehicles in China last year, a 17 percent increase over the year prior. That compares to just 154,700 sales in the US.

  21. Tesla posted a $722M loss for the first quarter of 2019, higher than analysts expectations. This was a swing from a 4th quarter 2018 profit of $139.5M. Cash on hand is $1.5B lower than end of 2018, now $2.2B, partially due to a one time payment of $920M in convertible bonds that came due. Tesla says that is built 63,000 model 3s in the first quarter gearing up for overseas sales, though only 12,100 of those vehicle were delivered. Tesla is maintaining its projections of 360,000 to 400,000 vehicles total for the year. Tesla recently announced updates to its Model S and Model X vehicles that allow them to travel further on a single charge and also charge up to 50% faster than before. These updates require the purchase of a new vehicle and cannot be simple downloads over the air. They are also offering current owners who purchase a new Model S or Model X Performance model a free upgrade to Ludicrous Mode. Part of the reason for this upgrade is that the Model S, Model X, and Model 3 now share drive components and that simplification could yield big savings for the company. Tesla is also preparing for the launch of the Tesla Model Y small crossover based on the Model 3 sedan, but deliveries of that vehicle do not start until Fall 2020

  22. Ford reported first quarter operating earnings of $801m, up $160m over the same quarter last year. The company says that it expects this quarter to be the strongest quarter of the year due to seasonal factors and major product launches later this year. However, the company says it still expects to finish 2019 better than 2018. Outside of North America, Ford is still losing money, but those losses are shrinking. Ford recently announced a restructuring plan for Europe that included over 6,000 layoffs. Also in the earnings report, Ford revealed that the company is subject to a criminal investigation by the Justice Department due to its emissions certifications. We recently reported that Ford had launched its own internal investigation into its emissions certification process. Ford's stock rose more than 6% in premarket trading.

  26. Differences in styling. A reliance on smaller displacement engines (already seeing this with the 2.0T). A lot more electrification. You know... all the things that are pointing that way in the whole industry where China is now the number one automotive market instead of the U.S.

  27. It's telling when two of GM's brands sell bigger in China than in their home country of the U.S. Cadillac is going to start getting more China-centric than US centric soon.

  28. I remember when writing the Frontier article that Nissan decided the Navara was too small for US tastes. Maybe this is a way for them to sell the Navara here and avoid stepping on the Frontier's toes much. Still, I would have liked to see the Triton here in the U.S., it's not a bad looking truck.

  31. Aside from a few screens that say Cadillac. It is pretty much identical to the system in the GMC terrain, except there is also a control knob you can use instead of a touch screen. Touch screen is still there, but you have options. If you want to play with it, just visit any GMC dealer.

  32. I am really interested in the new Nav system and how it responds, review comparisons to the German and Asians. Should be interesting along with the thoughts on the interior room and material quality. They should have made the CT5 a true 4 door sedan and then shocked everyone by showing off a true coupe like this. Or at least if not using that cool name called it an Eldorado.

  33. I think that’s my main problem with the CT5 as well. The short deck lid makes it look like the back end was cut off (especially when viewing the profile). The front end is spot on and I dig it 100% but it kind of falls off when you reach the back.

  34. The fastback roofline and short trunk is supposedly for aerodynamics...or it's part of a vast product marketing conspiracy to minimize trunk size and get more people into CUVs/SUVs...

  35. I don’t think you understand the definition of the word “troll”. Also, I don’t give a damn what the order guide says. Most customers don’t go there and don’t even know about them unless they deal with fleet sales. When you go to Chevrolet.com to build one (or just research it), you will find not ONE mention of it as being a CUV. No salesman has ever sold the Bolt as a CUV and no one has ever confused as a CUV especially with just one glance at the window sticker on the lot that says “wagon”. You are trying to use a weak argument of semantics because you have nothing else. Fact is that if the Bolt tech had gone into an Equinox (for example), sales would have been higher. Everyone else but you sees that. Maybe it’s just denial or your simple hate of everything EV but it doesn’t change those facts. And you have the nerve to call anyone else here a “troll”. LMAO!

  36. Profitability has been nearly unobtainable for Tesla since the Model S debuted- that doesn't seem to have any affect on it's longevity, for some inexplicable reason. What's probably a bigger issue is the drastic decline in sales. U.S. Q1 2019 was down 61%, yet go find that number published anywhere.
    1 point
  37. Well there is also the big fall off on deliveries. I would think that would be the biggest issue of them all. Can't sustain things if they can't sell.
