  1. All of the tariffs are raising taxes on Americans. The tariffs have already exceeded the tax cuts for middle Americans. Now it's a GOP sop.

  2. I have looked at the video and studied these two cars. These are my thoughts only... GM clearly has not fixed Cadillac. There is a huge problem. I thought about the changes in the lineup. All they did was drop XTS and replace it with XT6 crossover because this is what sells. XT6 just like XTS appeals to the same segment of buyers. They replaced CTS and ATS. They said that was not happening. They did. They go by different names( CT4 and CT5). They have three sedans instead of four. XTS was too close to CT6 and put the squeeze on CTS. At least XTS had a bigger trunk unlike the small trunk on CT6. They still have not fixed the fundamental problems of the CTS and ATS. I checked out the dimensions on the CT4. It is as big as a downsized 1986 Buick Riviera. They at least got the c pillar right on CT4. They still clearly have not let this Euro aspiration thing go. They need to stop being ashamed who they they are, and use the heritage and history to rebuild Cadillac. GM has the strong heritage and does not use it to rebuild the entire company. It is like John Mc Elroy from Autoline said: GM is shrinking its foot print globally for the next down turn. They want to act like a smaller company, but they do not realize they are still a large company. They are smaller globally: No presence in Europe, and have left countries they were not selling. That is a good move, but you have got to invest in your brands. GM is scared to take chances and it shows. They cannot depend on China. They need a: Ed Welburn, a Harley Earl, or a Bill Mitchell, a Wayne Cherry, or Chuck Jordan to lead design. Looking Back on GM’s Six Past Design Chiefs https://www.automobilemag.com/news/looking-back-gms-six-design-chiefs/ The Cadillac crest needs revision. I at first thought with the guy that was working for Cadillac whose first name starts with a U who left recently was changing it, that maybe it was a good idea. I do not think so now. It does not say luxury or stand out any longer. It is no different than a Chevrolet emblem. You could put Chevrolet emblems on these two cars and they could pass for Chevrolets. That Cadillac emblem/ crest is missing something. Even the one from the 1950's said "luxury" They need to bring the wreath back or the V or make them emblem more detailed. Right now it does not say luxury. It says "cheap or mass market" It is sad when a company favors Chevrolet for everything and it shows. Too many brands have suffered because of Chevrolet. People thought oh, kill brands and it will solve the problem. It has not and GM still is doing the same thing and making the same mistakes. This is getting old. They did not give Oldsmobile this much time to turn around. That was unfair. GM should engineer top down and not bottom up. What is good enough for Chevrolet is not good enough for the rest of GM. They should invest and change how they think. The people who post here know what Cadillac is. GM does not know. Cadillac is majestic. It is stately. It is luxury. It stands apart. It has features you should not find on Chevrolet. It has styling to stay you have arrived. CT6 is a good start, but it is not complete. That c pillar on that car does not say Cadillac. It says Toyota, Audi or other six window design c- pillar cars. You look at CT5, you do not immediately think Cadillac. You think Saturn or Chevrolet. It should not be that way. Cadillac needs to lay off all that black trim. Again.. it says cheap. They have taken the Escala concept styling and put it on the CT4( small) the CT5( medium) and the CT6( large). That philosophy does not work. That is what BMW does. BMW is in trouble right now too. If Pontiac was here and they said these two cars were Pontiac, no one would have an issue because that is what they would expect from Pontiac. If they said they were Holden, no one would have an issue. When you look at Cadillac, you should want to own it or drive it. It should be nice to look at. The only vehicle that has stayed true to Cadillac's mission is Escalade. They need to look at that vehicle and build on that. They need to learn who they are again. They need to start using real names. The letter and number thing is not working. Just stop. I am just expressing how I feel. I do not work at GM, but it is clear to the outside what needs to happen to fix Cadillac. I want GM and Cadillac to be great again. What will it take? What must happen?

  3. The A-Class was a SMART sized hatchback for the bulk of that time.... don't make it sound like they've been making the current A-class that long.

  4. That has nothing to do with raising taxes on citizens of the US! It's like shooting yourself in the foot because your next door neighbor won't stop the guy two doors down from beating his wife. All this is going to do is hurt the domestic economy. http://bfy.tw/NvKJ

  5. I can put the blame where it belongs. Let’s start with all of our engagements and meddling in Central America since the 1930s that resulted in endless civil wars and despot leaders. Now, add in our failed “war on drugs” policies that started during the Nixon years and was amplified during the Reagan years, and you have the perfect recipe for the current disaster in that region. Maybe you should crack open a history book on it before spouting off pro-Trump propaganda. https://medium.com/s/story/timeline-us-intervention-central-america-a9bea9ebc148 See above response. Whats hilariously sad is that I never see folks labeling the Irish the same way as brown folks even though they also fled a $h!hole country situation for decades and we have tens of thousands of them here illegally in one fashion or another. Where’s our east coast wall that needs to be paid for by Ireland (that last part is clearly meant to be a joke btw)? https://www.google.com/amp/s/psmag.com/.amp/social-justice/how-the-immigration-crackdown-is-hitting-the-irish-community

  6. Ive been saying a version of this for a while now! Im glad that a few passionate people about Cadillac, and GM, are voicing their opinions. If we are NOT happy about our beloved Cadillac...lets start shouting that out loud!!! RAISE A LITTLE HELL!!! (Canuck Rock Rules!!! )

  7. Good post. And I think a lot of the current Cadillac line looks like it was designed by the same people that design Chevrolets. And they shouldn't look anything alike.

  8. This country has plenty of our own problems, drug addictions, gun addiction, I could go on and on. And central American countries have problems too, yet I don't see us spending a trillion dollars there to fix help fix them like we did in Iraq so weapons contractors could get wealthy and we can save 50 cents a gallon on gas. Blaming Mexico for problems is a lazy excuse for our own issues. And I haven't seen any joint plan by USA and Mexico to clean up all the drugs, gangs and mess in central America in the past 20 years either.

  9. WOW! Now I truly understand why all the downvotes... Anyway... Here is a little video I found a couple of months ago...maybe we could all laugh at the hilarity of this dude's editing! Its really funny. I laugh my a$$ off every time I see it!

  10. GTFO. I could not stand Obama but I also know that these same folks would not work with him regarding anything. Where was your concern then? Oh that’s right. It only matters now that a republican is in office. Trump couldnt get $h! done with a GOP majority for the first two years and has literally lied about everything. This not an “obsession” as you call it. This is the truth. So you would have paid a 25% higher tax on that Compass just to prove your support for the president? Yeah, somehow I doubt that because then you would have to acknowledge the obvious flaw in the tariff game. And please give a proper answer to the facts I gave earlier regarding this country’s role in making these $h!hole countries instead of down voting because it hurts that’s fragile little Trump supporting ego. Don’t worry though blu. After these tariffs are implemented and our farmers start getting pinched even more, we can just have Trump throw another $15 Billion at them while deriding those “socialist democrats”. Making everyone but America great again.

  11. Not a chance. You think it's funny that he's raised taxes on most Americans? Just because it comes out of a different pocket doesn't mean it isn't still a tax. He's at his highest approval rating in his term and still has yet to break 50%.

  12. I love the States, man! I love your country almost as much as I love my own! It pains me to see and hear all that is happening in your country. Ill stop with the political stuff. Only because reality of what our countries have done to other countries is hard to accept by some of us...yes...including Canada....

  13. You are right about conditions in Central America. Tariffs will solve nothing because they are taxes on US importers, who will pass those taxes onto consumers. Changing behavior requires something else that will directly affect Mexico, not torpedo the auto industry.

IRONY is that...those shythole countries YOU wanna talk about, well, a lot...a lot of similarities exist... Yet another public shooting...this one is fresh. It happened YESTERDAY... 15. I don't know if my opinion is unpopular, nor if the car is unpopular. I'd say it's a niche car and a small few still like these a lot over 20 years later. I would be in that fold. 1994 to 1996 Caprice LS - if in immaculate condition, with the up-version LS 60-40 cloth seats, the small (263 c.i. or 4.3L) Chevy V8, and low miles. This interior, but in cloth. Console? Yes, please. I'm going to assume these ride a little smoother than would a W-body FWD. I can't be sure of that but I certainly like the idea of a centered engine, suspension components that are easier to see, and a transmission that sits in the back, so to speak. And to think I borderline hated this car model when it was currently being sold and seen everywhere.

  16. It takes a while to get these things out, you don't even know, bruh. Early CT4 prototype, next to a senior model. Too bad the convertible proposal was dropped @ the last minute:

  17. After disappointing fans with a less than awe-inspiring release of the CT4-V and CT5-V on Thursday, Cadillac took the cars to Belle Isle, in Detroit, Michigan on Saturday. General Motors President Mark Reuss and GM Vice President Global Product Ken Morris drove prototypes of the next step up in V-Series Performance at the Detroit Grand Prix. The two sedans appear to be uprated, higher performance versions of the cars shown on Thursday, more in line to be direct replacements for the ATS-V and CTS-V they succeed. Much of the disappointment surrounding the two cars comes from the relatively tepid power outputs. The CT4-V comes with a 320 horsepower turbo-charged 4-cylinder and the CT5-V comes with a 355 horsepower twin-turbo V6, a mere 20 horsepower increase over the non-V CT5 V6 and less than the 400 horsepower available in the 2019 Cadillac CT6 Platinum, and a far cry from the 460 horsepower ATS-V and 620 horsepower CTS-V. Cadillac is aiming to make the V-series more accessible to customers, however, we feel that they could have achieved this same goal by calling the revealed cars V-Sport instead of V-series. As of yet, we can only speculate what Cadillac is planning for the upgraded V-series cars, but hopefully, the twin-turbo V8 Blackwing will make it into at least one of them.

  19. It is unofficial, but apparently the blackwing is in the CT5 in the article picture. It's less power than the old CTS-V, but at least it's not a "truck engine" right?

  28. The United States is more likely to lose its near-monopoly position on the world stage at this point. China will benefit the most. The USA (especially since we can get our own oil from the Permian Basin) can simply ditch the Middle East and leave them to Russia. Of course, China has spent a lot of $$$$ on upgrading their military hardware too, not just technology and infrastructure. Too bad our president seems to think that bad 1980s solutions will solve the problems of the 21st Century, even against our allies and trading partners.

  30. The world needs an icon for an asshat (great term) ... a clean one that everyone could use ... the question is whether the hat would vertical or horizontal in said icon. Then there's a question of what the hat itself would be like ... a top hat, a sombrero, etc.?

  31. Yes. Wheelbase is same for ATS and CT4. No additional rear seat room. Bad move by Cadillac. Didn’t bother to fix the big problem on the ATS They could have used the wheelbase stretch of the Chinese ATS-L WHY NOT CADILLAC???

  32. Much like you believed the ATS & CTS were "being cancelled and not replaced", you are once again being purposely obtuse/ unwillingly confused.

  38. I had a couple of that generation Impala as rentals, liked how they had the ignition on the dash, kind of an old time throwback detail, along w/ the column shift. I had many rentals of the long running generation after that...those drove pretty nicely..

  39. Still see a fair number of first-gen FWD Impalas on the road. Saw one yesterday... still going, clapped out mess that it was. Armchair reactionaries can say what they will, the GM W-body served millions for many years without asking much in return.

  42. You've never heard me say I am against the car companies building vehicles in Mexico. If Mexicans are employed, maybe they won't want to spill over. But the Mexican government is weak, and conditions there are poor for too many Mexicans. The Mexican government needs to step it up. That's the Dems' modus operandi

  43. Me thinks that GM thinks Chevrolet is the performance brand at GM. I don't expect much from these higher performance V cars, because GM plays everything really safe and how many high performance Cadillacs would they sell? I think they just want to build more crossovers like Trailblazer and Encore GX instead because that is what people buy.

  44. What is Mexico doing at its southern border? What is Central America doing to BETTER the lives of its citizens? This is where the issues start. The tariffs are a byproduct of decades of poor conditions in poorly run $h!hole countries. Too many of you guys don't want to put the blame where it belongs.

  45. Is this going to keep going after his re-election? Because there is no one on the horizon who can touch him in 2020. Try to find some common ground. Wish for congress to work for us, and not this obsession with Trump. This obsession is damaging our country, and probably more important to the Dems, it is damaging their chances. He is always two steps ahead, from the very start of his campaign.
