That's.... not how it happened at all. There was an internal design competition going on for the sedan. One guy/gal sketched up a coupe on a whim. Ed Welburn saw the sketch and said to the artist to see him about it later. Eventually it was clay modeled (or whatever the current technology is today) and sent up for approval. It wasn't even in the plans to make a coupe at first. Welburn himself told me this story. The net result is a polarizing one... people either love the coupe (like me) or hate it (like you), but it's much better to have a polarizing reaction than a "meh" one which is the reception the ATS Coupe got.4 points

I'm agreeing with the comments... definitely need a better mic on you, background music needs to go down a bit, although your coverage, imagery, pacing, are all spot on for the audience they'd appeal to. For fun you should have some violins in the background and a bunch of wine glasses filled up with water on the dash and try and recreate a 90's Lexus commercial.2 points

Exactly! I don’t care if ccap doesn’t like it or if anyone else does for that matter. It looked like nothing else (as opposed to the boringness of the Germans) which was a good thing IMO. It wasn’t meant to appeal to everyone and I’m fine with it. The Coupe was all of 2.5 inches shorter than the sedan. If you’re going to hate something with so much pointless vigor, at least get your facts right lol. At least it looks better than 3/4ths of the CUVs out there. Again I’m going to politely disagree with your wrong opinion.2 points

I’m referring to the fact that the ATS base price went up in 2019 (by $3K). Yes to this (but I am little Wagon biased)! There is a pearl white 3.6L for sale near me and it’s killing me that I can’t pull the trigger on it right now (still on medical leave for my shoulder). The V Wagon is a definite bucket list car for me. Maybe one day lol.2 points

That's what I said, "you'd think if people knew about it, it would have sold well enough to be kept around." Absolutely. People who had TDi's, loved them. I had two friends with them and they also loved them. They could eek out 50mpg.2 points

Those are the competition : Ford <> Chevy <> GMC <> Dodge. They compete, and hard, against EACH OTHER. nissan / toyoyo are after-thoughts, market-wise. 2018 F-Series was 909,330.2 points

The time has come for the Corvette to mid-engine architecture. Powering the Corvette is a 6.2 liter V8 LT2 making and SAE certified 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque when equipped with an optional exhaust system. In Z51 form, the car is expected to hit 60 mph in less than 3 seconds. The base output of the engine has not been revealed yet. The LT2 engine is based on the LT1 with a new aluminum block. This new engine features a dry-sump oiling system and three scavenger pumps to fight oil starvation in high-G maneuvers on a track. People looking for three pedals will be disappointed to find that no manual transmission will be offered. Instead an 8-speed dual clutch automatic will take over shifting duties and likely execute them faster than any human could. The DCT is setup with a low first gear for quick take off and tall seventh and eighth for fuel economy. The gears in between are close ratio to keep the engine strongly in the power band. Those who want a removable roof will be happy to find that option still there and can be stored in the rear compartment. There will be 3 interior seat options, six interior colors, six seat-belt colors, and two optional stitching packages. The suspension is a double-wishbone design with oil over dampers, while the Z51 package gets magnetic ride control. A front lift system can lift the nose and use GPS to mark the location where you lifted the nose for future use. An electric brake system is more precise and is tunable by the driver. All Stingrays get an electronic limited-slip differential. The front trunk and rear trunk combined can handle 12.6 cubic feet of cargo space. The structure of the Stingray built from high-pressure diecast aluminum and has a carbon fiber rear bumper. Pricing will start at less than $60,000.1 point

I like it, but those center console buttons are a joke. How is that intuitive at all to hit anything specific while driving?!1 point

I don't think it's just about money. Ford has been building trucks since 1905, they've been crushing the full-size segment for 50+ years, trucks are hardwired into the Corporation's DNA. And now -- much to toyota's dismay no doubt -- Ford is doubling down on trucks and is just beginning to flex it's muscle in the only spot toyoter has had any success; where the 'coma sits. Toyoter has always been focused on cars (and CUVs now), but the cars are still looking to continue to constrict, and their trucks aren't anywhere near where the cam/rolla is. toyota is going to see some real erosion, IMO.1 point

For my parents and relatives, comparatively speaking, that would be early. I only did it to know if I had much in the way of input from countries and regions other than the one my parents come from ... and I don't. I most definitely did not do it to trace relatives. For the last 4 generations, I know they all came from within a very tight geographic radius and knowing that is good enough for me.1 point

The materials look pretty excellent, but stylilistically I don’t like it. Then again, I feel the move to mid-engine is wrong for the Corvette.1 point

The vast bulk of the F-Series is the F-150. The problem with the theory that “if toyoter got on it” is that Ford NEVER sits still on the F-150, and they’re LIGHT YEARS ahead of where the tundra will be 2 generations from now. It’s a no-win scenario.1 point

Love the consistent tone, very informative and like the video editing cuts. My only thought is the same as @balthazar where the music needs to be dialed down to background music. At the start have the music start out even lower and come up to 50% of your own voice level. Other than that, I really enjoyed it.1 point

Have to say this custom Chevelle is HOT HOT HOTz Sexy as Hell! GM is selling the ZR1 755HP motor as a crate motor and GM decided to refresh a Chevrolet Chevelle with this motor. https://www.gmperformancemotor.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=NEW-LT5-ZR1-CRATE-ENGINE WOW, very sexy and will be on display at SEMA this fall. They also have done a K10 and C10 based on Performance Crate Motors that will be shown off too.1 point

I prefer a more sedate tonal delivery (like yours) to the hyped / on speed deliveries most of these review videos offer, so kudos there. The voice level, yes, could be higher, but ALSO the background music needs to be more like 50%; it should stay in the background & not compete with the voiceover. Overall I say; well done!1 point

Be gentle, it's my first time editing and narrating a video for youtube. I know I need a better microphone. Constructive criticism welcome. Edit: New Version with the music level reduced by half.1 point

Anyone want to bid on one of 36 forgotten corvettes going up for auction? https://www.thedrive.com/news/29038/historic-collection-of-36-forgotten-chevrolet-corvettes-will-be-raffled-off-for-charity Very cool! See this shows your own Fanboi love of what you think are better auto's. The CTS Coupe stands apart from the rest of the Cadillac family unlike the Germans Generic all look the same. From top to bottom, from coupe to sedan, they just all blend in together.1 point

I feel like those all actually made an effort to look like something unique, even if everything underneath is garbage. The CTS Coupe just looks so unbelievably half-assed to me... It's "fairly entertaining" to watch. I'd give it a 7/10.1 point

Not sure it is quite there yet, but it is slowing down. My current job had to let a few folks go on certain projects. Local fast food joints have taken their hiring signs down. My second job will not be hiring for Christmas this year........1 point

Too bad that the Germans refuse to ditch those coupe-style crossovers. Those completely suck.1 point

Yeah well I never said Cadillac was being logical about the ATS pricing lol. Still, $38K is a decent price for the CT5 regardless of its polarizing looks. The base price of the 2018 coupe was just north of $38K. Quirky sidenote: I’m one of the few people that actually like the last gen CTS coupe, fat ass and all. They should have continued it with the current CTS but alas, offering variety within each model seems to be a thing of the past these days.1 point

For the 1971 model year, Chevrolet introduced the handsome, economical, fun to drive Vega in 4 bodystyles: a two-door sedan, two-door hatchback, two-door panel delivery, and two-door wagon. The stylish little car looked like the perfect little brother to the second-generation Camaro. At first blush, it was a breakthrough, (along with the venerable Pinto and unique Gremlin) a uniquely American response to the charming VW Beetle and early Toyota and Datsun subcompacts. It should have been a contender... it could have ensured GM's market supremacy, already enjoyed in the mid-and full-size classes, in the burgeoning subcompact market. But a couple of major issues killed its reputation (engine issues being paramount, lack of corrosion protection being secondary, since the Japanese subcompacts at the time were just as bad) before it could make a positive lasting impression. The Vega's problems are largely responsible for American manufacturers' cession of the subcompact market in its infancy and allowed the rise of Japanese importers. Agree or disagree? What do you all think?1 point

I think due to the well-known fact it's replacement is coming, Cadillac jacked the price for '19. It was $35,500 in 2018.1 point

So a "rebadged toyoter"; a marketplace also-ran? That's you suggestion for success???1 point

Again, mmmkay dude. The Cadillac Escalade EXT actually did well (for what it was) but it was also not a full blown pick up. Once GM decided to scrap the Avalanche, there was no chance for the Caddy. Still did way better than Lincoln attempts and still better than the vapor ware attempt by Benz. I’m thinking that’s the only reason for your deflection. The domestics at least made an attempt (with some success by one of them) while the best or nothing said “we got nothing”. And that’s the point here. Mercedes could not even get it off the ground, even with a borrowed platform to work with. Make all the excuses you want regarding anyone else not sporting that Tri Star on the hood but facts are facts.1 point
-
Mmmmkay dude. Whatever you say. For the record, truck prices have gone through the roof yet keep selling like hot cakes. Seems like some folks don’t mind paying $70K for a Ford or RAM. What is hilarious is that you compare that number against a vapor ware Benz pickup that would not have started anywhere near $70K. Just more of that imaginary pricing of yours with a hint of bar moving. Like you said, if they wanted to do it, they would. Alas, they can’t. In regards to Toyota, cars like the Camry and Corolla sell because of legendary reliability yet rank near the bottom in every comparison out there. In other words, they haven’t gone all in with those for years now meaning that “going all in” isn’t always the magic bullet towards cracking certain markets. To even bring a Camry up like it’s comparable to what’s going on with MERCEDES is laughable deflection on your part. Playing that fanboy card pretty hard today.1 point

I think if it came in Silver with the blackout package- That would be enough to get me over to the Dark side. ? Besides the Caddy, there is simply no other brand that touches the style of the Navi...it’s a good looking SUV.1 point

That interior is simply GREAT. And I appreciate the monochrome package. I LOVE the Silver Spruce color Ford has out now, however.1 point

It is interesting to look into that.. my sister goes on genealogy kicks occasionally and has traced our family lineage back a long way...mostly English, but some French (Alsace) and Swiss, Scottish and Ulster Scots. A related activity is finding what famous or infamous people one is related to. I'm distantly related to multiple past and modern era presidents, entertainers, and strangest of all--some of the most notorious serial killers (all through my Mom's family).1 point
