  1. Is this the same ‘anything goes 2020’ that has rolls royce building an SUV?
  2. That’s exactly what your Uncle Floyd said about the 1956 Sir Vival C’mon, let’s keep a grip on reality here.
  3. This thread has managed to blind me TWICE!!! I must admit...the interior's of both the RR and the Bentley are plush. They ought to be....
  4. ^^^ Two things Id like to say about that: 1. More money than brains category? And 2. My eyes! My eyes!
  5. As the old saying goes, 'may you live in interesting times'...
  6. Very funny!!! At first I was like I had to struggle to figure it out. And then I was like
  7. You know what this needs? A range-topping 1.3L 3-cylinder engine. That SCREAMS luxury!
  8. CGI, just to show the general hue.
  9. Yeah RR Cullinan just looks like a strange slightly lifted Phantom wagon. Sat in the Bentley Bentayga a while back while at the Penske Automall near me. It is super plush inside tastefully done with top grade everything as it should be for the $250K price tag. Pulls off the Continental style front end pretty well. Not sure how reliable they are and Resale is horrible like most luxury lines.
  10. ^^^ that aint half bad... Its the long wheelbase that stretches the SUV's length to make it sleek. It kinda reminds me of the Presidential Limo The Rolls Cullinan would make a great (visually) British Prime Minister or Royal limousine Beast equivalent!!! I do not know what platform the Cullinan uses...so that is why I said (visually).
  11. This stretch Cullinan is cool..
  12. Check out Cleveland Brown Odell Beckham's Roller.... in Browns orange. And the Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament was replaced w a figure of himself. I think I saw it in traffic one night a while back, something blocky and orange zooming past in the far left on I-90 coming out of downtown.
  13. Yes, as is Aston Martin and Ferrari.. Genesis may end up being the last to the party for SUVs. I expect McLaren will announce one soon...
  14. Nikola pickup truck looks MUCH better!
  15. They should make a Miata MX-5 X-Cross, 2 seat convertible crossover.
  16. Exactly. I said earlier that I am curious to know why they chose to style it that way. I read in another thread, or was it this one?, that this design is cost effective for cheaper manufacturing. I guess it makes sense??? Trucks are utilitarian. I suppose? No need to artsy fartsy them with any kind of style, I guess. Its not as if people in 2020 only buy trucks to haul shyte around the farm... And I LITERALLY MEAN SHYTE....MANURE But, like you said, it actually DOES look different. Who knows how many takers this will have? Only time will tell... We live in a very strange time...anything goes in 2020. EDIT: Then I got to see Balthy's post and I kinda want to retract my statement...but then again... We actually DO live in strange times...anything goes in 2020.
  17. Well, it does look distinctive and stands out, doesn’t look like any other truck on the road. That’s a good thing, instead of same old, same old it’s futuristic looking. Whether that leads to sales, time will tell...
  18. Well, BMW does have a 1.5 3 cyl as seen in the i8..
  19. How about one in the front... and one in the BACK!
  20. ^ There's no evidence to the contrary. There's no price-competitive, capacity-competitive, range-competitive, functionality-competitive EV truck out there. Yet. While it may be blissful to accept every start-up OEM's marketing claims at face value, I for one need to see some objective testing and hard data.
  21. Having preference in aesthetics does NOT mean one is close-minded or resistant to change. Just as unilateral acceptance of every single new consumer product pitched does NOT mean one is a bobblehead with no ability to make a decision for themselves or evaluate their own needs/wants. If change was an aspirational virtue, where are all the wife/husband of the month clubs at? No, really; where they at? ?
  22. Weird; it looks like a truck.
  23. curious, does it really look better w/o cladding?
  24. Repeat after me: NOTHING LOOKS GOOD IN ORANGE. NO ONE LOOKS GOOD IN ORANGE.
  25. Those look GREAT on there...way better than the base/silver/etc. normal Regal wheels on the hatch. Wagon is a looker.
  26. Sent this piece down the road. I got it in 1983 from a closed-down antiques shop/junkyard. 2' x 3', it's an original double-sided porcelain dealership sign. It's hung in my shop probably since the first year or 2 it was built (in '92). Of course, Durant Motors was William Durant's final empire, incorporating Star, Flint, Rugby, Locomobile and Mason trucks, it was to have challenged his original masterpiece work (General Motors) but only lasted from '21-31. Man who bought it said his father was friends with Durant and he's always admired him as an industrialist. It's a cool piece, but time for another to enjoy it.
  27. That's the point - everyone is doing the same thing, because the same thing does what everyone is there for- sales. RE the 'cybertruck : you KNOW your shit is bad when a competing OEM offers their design to you out of embarassment / pity!
  28. You even have Beast 2.0 pictured. ???? Nice job Canadian brother! ???
  29. The stock Cullinan is on a 129 inch wheelbase. It’s got an aluminum platform shared w the Phantom.
  30. And OH BOY...that Rolls SUV is is uglier than ugly itself.
  31. That Tesla truck is so meme-able. Too bad it fails at its original task: it so does NOT look like a truck. What was Elon Musk thinking?
  32. I'll explain what I mean by "homecoming." Never did I think I'd drive my car across the international border between the stare of New York and province of Ontario, with a destination of Toronto. I was a little on edge, given that Toronto has grown so much since I last drove in it. I knew my way around Vancouver fairly well, even with the growth. I wonder if border agents have heard the explanation that, in addition to visiting Toronto, someone wanted to take their car to "see" its "birthplace." Well, being in Toronto means being a little more than 30 minutes from Oshawa, the lauded GM plant at which my car was built. In addition to seeing Toronto, I thought I'd drive it to the GM Oshawa plant and photograph it in front of where final assembly took place. The Oshawa plant isn't as aesthetically appealing as I thought it would be. It was sort of dowdy. There was a Costco nearby, a Greek restaurant I wanted to try but was closed on that day of the week, and housing digs that, based on the throw away magazines, are far from cheap that far out from the big T-O. The car performed very well on the trip. It still had and has not reached 100,000 miles. I believe I nudged 30 mpg on some highway jaunts. Here you go: This appears to be the original office building for the plant Self explanatory A little more drama from this angle There is a tech and research center across the street from the older plant Gotta love the Canadian flag - "less is more" So it's obvious what has recently been built here. I wonder what the mix is between what is 2.5 L4 equipped and what is 3.6 V6 equipped. Glad I put aside part of an afternoon to do this. It's not something I'm likely to repeat. Cheers, eh?
  33. I had to scratch my head on this one as well. That is one of their better looking cars, especially in its grille a few years back. I don't believe you can use the GM card earnings on these ... but maybe you can. The market is changing so rapidly and I'm not comfortable with making a "next car" decision at this point.
  34. Totally agree with you on this Tesla truck. Course easy to pull up the Cut and Fold paper autos. Like this story as Nikola the Semi truck builder has plans for a regular pickup and even offered it to Tesla for free to get it out there sooner. Good Read here: https://insideevs.com/news/384084/nikola-pickup-truck-design-elon-musk/ This would have been a far better Tesla than the Cyber truck he showed up with that is very questionable. Course his ego got in the way I think.
  35. I totally agree, this is a Failure in Truck design. Good relative match with the Clipper.
  36. We do not know that, there is nothing that says this is a limited truck. Ford has proven that their EV truck is not limited in hauling or towing. 1.2 million pounds of trailer pulling is not limited.
  37. No electric motor will ever look this good. No electric motor will ever elicit the kind of sustained emotional connection people have had with their vehicles. This is automotive high art. All hail!
  38. Wonder if they turn on when the lid is closed so both sets work or if there is a switch to turn them off. ?
  39. First time I've seen a Mazda in red. Gotta say... it is kinda low-slung for a CUV, and the cladding has risen like high tide in the La Brea Tar Pits.
  40. Relatively high cladding to paint ratio on this bugger.
  41. Almost looks matte... but just on the nose. Satin finish?
  42. Still has very narrow functionality though, being an EV.
  43. Thank you for PROVING the point that some folks have no ability to appreciate all kinds of ART. Limited thinking makes one wonder how you function in a Multi-Cultural society of exciting change. Clearly Change is not you. Yes this is a lovely built ICE motor that elicits excitement. EV motors can do the same and have their own lovely sounds and designs. The Future is about change in ALL FORMS of Autos.
