    Is there really demand for another V8-powered BOF SUV? I thought those had steady sales, not skyrocketing ones. I also thought it was 2019 not 1995-2008.

    Unless the price is less than $25K to start (and stops well short of $35K), there is no circumstance where they will sell half a million units. Ever.

    The merger is necessary given that Renault and Nissan are so close. As for the Agnelli family, it reminds me of the sale of the Buffalo Bills after founder Ralph Wilson died. The kids want the cash and move onto their own interests.

    If GM can build a great I6 diesel, then why can't (or won't) GM build a great gas I6? Cadillac/Camaro/Corvette(?) could use one.

    Smart cars were never a big seller here in the first place. No need for Mary Barra to take a hint since she will not turn ALL GM vehicles into EVs. There is still room for ICE cars for the next decade or so.

    In my last oil change, I had to change the engine air filter and the cabin filter. All done on 3/18/2019 at my local dealership at about $114 completed (all three).

    I just changed mine last week. Usually I let the oil life monitor tell me when to change the oil in my Lucerne. Typically it is around 6000 miles. (My Lucerne has less than 86K on the odometer.).

    No. They should replace the 3.6 with the TT3.0 V6. The 2.0T will probably be the base engine.

    I thought that the Navigator or the XT6 would be direct competitors to the X7, not an Escalade. Are we comparing likes with likes?

    So the really smooth 9AT coupled with a smooth and quiet 2.0T engine in a FWD luxury crossover lacks the performance punch a lot of people here expected. Good to know. When my '08 Lucerne was being serviced, I asked a salesman about the new Terrain. We looked at a loaded SLT and he mentioned how quiet the engine was and the lack of turbo lag and the smooth ride. What the salesman told me corroborates with what dwightlooi mentioned here. For the FWD crossovers, the demand is for smooth-running quiet fuel-efficient four-cylinder engines. This setup matches what is required. This is what most people want in their powertrain. Now as for the CT5 and any RWD sedans that get the 2.0T or the 2.7T, I do not see the current 9AT installed in such a performance car since there would be too little torque available for those engines.

    First Peugeot buys Opel from GM, now this? If true, then thanks for almost single-handedly solving the overcapacity problem in the industry. If this comes to pass, Peugeot will have to do all the restructuring by itself. Win-win for (almost) everybody!

    Applause all around for Rivian. Now if only GM would get around to their own version of this. . . .

    Yeah. China is a truly protectionist country. They already have a 25% tariff on all imported vehicles. While I would rather not see the plant close down, GM needs a product that sells like hotcakes that will keep Lordstown open. Ideally, Buick would make the Encore and the Envision (as well as the Trax and Equinox/Terrain) in Lordstown rather than SK/China.

    Is it just me, or did BMW and MB/Maybach collaborate on their respective grilles on their CUVs? This Maybach resembles a big baleen whale upfront. Pass.

    Well, the new CT5 has solved a few issues: engine choice, replace two slow sellers with one seller (sales TBD), new(ish) platform that fixes the old platform issues. Back window and coupe profile aside, I like it. I really like the CT6 and maybe the CT5 should have cribbed from the larger model a little more.

    The only difference is that, in the good old USA, we are less forgiving of GM/Ford/FCA mistakes than foreign automakers' mistakes. Even if those mistakes really cause major issues down the line. As for Boeing, why put a new engine on a plane that was designed 50 years ago? Just start with a clean sheet of paper and do it right with the best technology available.
