  1. Of course the Cruze would sell faster in SoCal than the Impala. Gas prices are about $1 higher in CA than almost everywhere else in the United States (excluding HI).
  2. Reminds me of an EV-1 from 20 years ago if it was allowed to fully evolve, except for those ridiculously huge wheels.
  3. Too bad Chevrolet killed off the Avalanche. A smaller one would really shake up the midsize pickup truck market.
  4. Truly wealthy would be somebody listed in the Forbes 400. Or at least could get there.
  5. Some people aspire to own (or at least lease) a Mercedes Benz to impress their friends and neighbors and co-workers and their clients. The rest of us need not indulge and will get the best for what we can afford. The truly wealthy rarely (if ever) buy a Mercedes Benz, let alone a Bentley or a Rolls-Royce.
  6. I agree with most of what you said, especially when it comes to the dealership experience. I am concerned that the Vette may end up with an identity problem sometime in the future if Corvette were a separate division. GM has four divisions now; it was not that long ago that it had as many as nine. BK forced the required pruning down to where it is now. Does Corvette deserve to be a separate division with its own dealer network of about 500 dealers? I would say yes. But as a separate division, Corvette would need great leadership and vision to prevent what happened to Pontiac in the 25 years before BK.
  7. You know, GM could just build engines like Lexus did with its V8 for years: Port and Direct injection. GM could also build new pushrod I4 and V6 engines, but doing both would require buying a clue first. No need to emulate questionable Mercedes Benz engineering. Horsepower is nice, but torque is a requirement. Too many DOHCs are weak on torque.

  9. I have a question: why should the Corvette be a separate division within GM? In a time when many brands are altering themselves to be just profitable and lack a unique selling point, there really is no reason to convert the Corvette into what Porsche is: a separate division within an automaker that has an increasingly weak USP. I do not think that Porsche should have pursued the CUV market at all; leave it to Audi for that. A Corvette is special; there is no reason to turn it into the next Pontiac between 1990 and 2008.
  10. This is Mitsubishi. They did not spend the $$$$ necessary to disallow engine drone noise in the cabin. If you want a quiet cabin, buy a Buick. Otherwise, nice job Mitsubishi.

  15. Following the money, it would be no surprise if the Trax effectively replaced the Cruze. One question: which CUV replaces the Chevy Sonic?
  16. Since when do Americans buy American 24/7 when foreign-made products are cheaper? Try never. As for cars, there was a time when a lot of car buyers experienced Fixed Or Repaired Daily and that frustrated them. Subsequently, they chose to buy a Toyota or a Honda instead. Those car buyers will never return to Ford or GM. The correct question is whether their children and grandchildren will actually buy new Ford and/or GM vehicles. Ford and GM have come a very long way from their struggles 30 and 40 years ago, and that is only because they had no choice. Change or Die. Foreigners care more about buying patriotically than they do about getting the best for their bottom dollar when they have a choice. Americans expect the best when they buy stuff (or at least the best deal).
  17. In the pursuit of profit, GM will do whatever it takes to maximize profits, regardless of sentiment in the Midwest or elsewhere in this republic.
  18. Maybe GM is being too cheap on its best engine and does not want to spend the $$$$ on making it standard throughout its engine families.
  19. I like buying cars I can get into that moment and test drive. Tesla fails that test.
  20. Then Genesis needs to upgrade the G80 Interior. The G70 could use it too. As for the Sonata, did anyone tell Hyundai that non-luxury sedan sales are in the tank and still falling?

  22. I do wish that Cadillac brings back names (especially for the crossovers!). Those who own an Escalade brag about it all day.
  23. Sorry, but a dramatic reduction in headroom is NOT worth the purchase price. Why ruin the best part of a CUV/SUV?
