Mercedes-Benz's Electric Future Begins With Generation EQ Concept
I think what you meant to say was "Good range". Claimed sub 8.0 second sprint to 60mph and a top speed of 99mph are never related to "good power and performance".

GM News: General Motors Accidentally Releases, Then Deletes Info On Updated Duramax V8
I built an Ecoboost Mustang Convertible and added everything I could(without adding the trunk mats, grocery net, and stuff like that) and it got up to just under 44k. That did include an auto trans and Performance Package along with whatever options package group was offered as well. The point was that cars are insanely priced and these massive trucks that are more capable than the driver's themselves can safely handle(or legally in the case of towing 30,000lbs).

I'm not sure if you guys social media much but if any of you have SnapChat you should add MotorTrend's. They don't always post stuff but they do during shows(Paris right now) and the 'of the year' testing. Pretty neat stuff. Their 'user name' is just motor.trend

Quick Drive: 2016 Dodge Challenger SXT Blacktop
1998 Camaro v6's has tire options of 215/50R16 and 235/55R16 and the SS came with 275/40R17s. Z/28 has a super awkward tire size of 245/5016. Those are very much different tire sizes. Not just section width but a more aggressive aspect ratio as well. And yes those taller sidewalls made for a squishy feeling. Looking up what exactly this Y87 Performance Package entails.. Nothing to do with suspension. 3.42 gears, Zexel-Torsion LSD, 235/55R16 Goodyear Eagles, Dual exhaust, 4 wheel disc brakes, and the V8's steering rack. The little FR-S/BRZ twins do have relatively skinny tires, and they also come with low rolling resistance tires from the factory. 214/45R17. The car has a boxer engine and it sits extremely low in the car bringing the CG down a ton in comparison. Yes, the V6 Camaros and Mustangs of those older generations weighed less because of less engine but you'll never objectively explain how the V6(of those older generations because the new ones are a completely different story with 1LE packages and north of 300hp and such) could be more fun than their V8 counterparts. Sliding around a 2700-2800lb car with exceptional balance is not the same as a 3300-3500lb, not well balanced, car. "Also critical in it’s handling dynamics is the BRZ has one of the lowest centers of gravity of any production car in the world at just 18.1 inches. This is because of Subaru’s Boxer engine design with its inherently low height and its mass concentrated low in the chassis. It contributes to all Subaru’s having this important characteristic, but BRZ takes maximum advantage of this." http://www.torquenews.com/1084/three-things-make-2015-subaru-brz-special-sports-car For what it's worth, C/D compared the Mustang and Camaro back in 1999 and the V6 Camaro ran a 16.1@87mph. That's not exactly fun speed either.. The little BRZ does the same in 15.0@94mph. Not the greatest comparison. Slow and overweight vs quick and light.

Not in those older generations you don't gain handling capabilities back with their skinny tires and soft suspensions. "that doesn't mean they were any less fun" - Yes. Yes it does mean they are less fun! lol

Chevrolet News:2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV To Start At $37,495
It's a great idea but I don't think all places allow you to sell back. I had a friend I lift with fighting our city to be able to do that. It ended up passing so he can now sell his surplus(if he has any) back to the city. But, for whatever reason, they fought it. I have to believe there are plenty of other places like that still.

Those seem very reasonable. I can't wait to have a house of my own because I can almost guarantee I will drive something like a used Volt(2nd gen probably by the time I'm on my own..lol)

Agreed. I actually think the small turbo mills are more enticing than the V6's. Just something about them that I like more than torqueless V6's...

Anyone else mountain bike?
How do you feel about the increase wheel/tire size? I guess if you're more of a trail rider you'd want the bigger wheels anyway. Looking at giant's site I think I had a Talon 1 not 2. I forgot that the 2's were a small step down in components. Shooooot I need to get the bike out and ride this weekend.

Anyone else mountain bike?
I have. I used to a good amount but it's been years since consistently riding. I just live in a crap area to want to mountain bike.. mid west.. If I lived in Missouri and not Illinois it would be much easier. There are some good places in Missouri but IL is just plain flat. This is my bike. 2011 Giant Talon 2 29er. I never really got enough seat time on the 29er to be 100% confident in myself compared to my Schwinn Mesa GS(back when Schwinn sold real bikes). Giant Schwinn

GM News: General Motors Accidentally Releases, Then Deletes Info On Updated Duramax V8
With those power figures so similar I'm curious about the characteristics of each engine/trans combo. Mostly because the 5hp advantage but 15tq disadvantage the Duramax has just sounds like a slightly awkward swing when it comes to diesels so I'm curious what their dynos look like. Hood looks GREAT. Now, if they could NOT outline the vent in chrome that would be nice.

Cadillac News: Cadillac Offers Buyouts To Their Smallest Dealers
I don't think it will increase sales but there is no way a dealer selling less than 1 car a week is making enough on it's own to profit so I'm assuming they're getting money from the mother ship therefore is they decrease their sales slightly by closing doors they will increase their margins and profits with lower total sales. That's just my guess.

I didn't even think of it until I was typing the original post but I would have totally invited you too! Not sure if you would have been able to get off last minute-ish(decided the week of) but if you could have it would have rocked

Chevrolet News:2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV To Start At $37,495
Buyers of the Bolt will realistically be in the red if we're talking about actually saving money over a 5 year span and likely even extended out with the 10k price premium over a similar compact/economy car getting 40mpg+. $10,000 is a lot of money in gas. I believe this is what @Wings4Life was trying to say. Instead of making a range of 400 miles but still an unreasonable price jump make them cheaper but maintain their current range(I think 200 is a pretty magical number that a lot of consumers will see as a welcome sign and I don't think range below that would be too beneficial) I love the technology, don't get me wrong. But they aren't actually saving anybody money quite yet.
