  1. GM never has intended to sell the car in quantities, all the magazines have confirmed it. It wants to give the perception that "we tried" but customers ran away from it. Therein lies the problem: GM has never marketed the SS at all. Few people know about it, so the SS does not sell at all. This is quite sad, especially given that gas is south of $2.50/gallon these days. If GM would market the SS at least as hard as the new Colorado, they might actually sell some SS models. There is an esteemed member here who claims that GM build it but people aren't buying it. May be the GM middle manager whose d(b)ong he was smoking got him high on that thought. Well such was the case and GM was really trying the car with 6-speed would have been on NAIAS floor. But there were 2 Cruzes and Impalas but no SS. NONE! That doesn't give perception of giving people what they want, does it? The car is reincarnation of E39 M5 and a step forward of the G8. It deserves a good send off and letting people know its talents. It is a rare gem in GM's vanilla. +1 !!

  10. Holy old thread! Uncle's old 99 silvy has close to 170k now... Dad's Venture is at 145k, but I think the rust will claim it before makes it there... Can't talk myself, wife's Cavvie just passed 100k.......
  11. Few could be cut, would not hurt... While I like the idea, it is not going to work for every market. Caddy/ GM need to look at EACH area (like a good retailer) and taylor the needs as such. I think though this concept will work well for the most part, especially in more "well do to" areas. In this price range, people tend to treat this kind of sale like buying the next pair of shoes or purse.....
  12. The '08 Malibu could have and should have been just refreshed rather than do the car we have today. Update the front/rear facias. Update the engines. Freshen the dash. It would have been far better than what they've got now if only for passenger room concerns. They may not have beaten the Camry, but they wouldn't be taking a negative 7% hit in sales growth. Buickman is in the comments of that article talking about how the car just isn't marketed properly... but that's bull. It is a severely compromised car when compared to the competition. I don't even like the Fusion, but I'll still pick one over the Malibu. Which is sad because I really liked the '08. Yes, I've driven them all. I agree..should have stuck with the updated 08ers... Kinda like the Cruze now. Just change it enough to make it another few years on a currently solid product...
  13. All look like a fun drive.......
