Europe is also a very different market in places because they have excellent public transit and old cities with really tight access. Were I to live in Italy in a city with streets dating to 1412, I would drive a car the size of a Fiat 500. Were I to live in Wyoming, a Suburban would work fine, although a pickup would do better. Living in a city like Columbus, Ohio or Pittsburgh, PA a GTI or an Encore is about right. YMMV

Are these the most boring cars you can own?
A Horse With No Name replied to G. David Felt's topic in The Lounge
Jetta with the GLI package can be really fun. Leaf is actually fun to drive because you have full torque from stop. Tahoe is fantastic to run a bunch of friends to a hockey game and out to dinner or the like. It's not exactly what I would choose for a track day toy, but as a tow vehicle it would be unbeatable, methinks. Plenty of room in the back for tools or camping gear. Or tow a boat with the damn thing. Not every car needs to entertain you every minute of the drive. Acura ILX is essentially an upscale Civic SI. For someone who wasn't a car nut, I could see it being a viable choice. So no, I do not agree with the list. -
Agreed, 300 buyers and Charger buyers are different animals.

2017 AWD Dodge Dart SRT - WRX STI killer?
A Horse With No Name replied to G. David Felt's topic in Dodge
Yes, I do. This to me solves the biggest issue to me in putting a Chrysler product in my garage. I happen to be the guy who likes sport compacts. The Abarth has great exhaust note, fantastic suspension tuning, et all. I just want all of that manic on a slightly larger safer car. This answers that question. In terms of how well it will be received by the general public, Subaru sold something like 3000 WRX and STI last month, so I would think Chrysler would have no problem moving these. Chrysler high po stuff seems to be selling well, aiming a car at a lower price point and younger demographic is a good idea IMHO. -

They are bringing out a clubman wagon also. Waiting to see it appear as a small pickup truck like those eighties Volkswagen's.- 24 replies

Massachusetts proposes taxing by miles driven
A Horse With No Name replied to balthazar's topic in Industry News
Agree with you here. Having been a lead on construction programs....they often run directly counter to logic. -
I saw the period in front of the 280 H.P. and thought.....is this thing HO scale perhaps? (Just kidding) I think this makes an infinite amount of sense. Having worked for several contractors and run several hundreds of thousands of miles in full size vans (Econoline, Chevy, etc. ) I know how how much the fuel cost to run these impacts a business. Thanks for the article. Chris

The Europeans are on fire in some ways. However, Jaguar seems to have a large supply of unsold cars as demand is dropping for them. I would rather have the real thing and own a Benz if I was into luxury cars and wanted an import.- 23 replies

It's packaging too. Electric power steering can be done excellently, Ford pretty much has it nailed right now. Now if they could bring that same magic to My Ford touch, they might be in bidness....- 23 replies

This is a good idea, but also silly in a ways. Not since the first generation Corvair have we seen so many variations of the same basic car.- 24 replies

What do you see as unique about North America as a place to market cars? Why do some cars, which sell well elsewhere, like the Jag F type, rot on dealer lots here? And why do we sell cars like the KIA Soul like candy to a pedophile?

Buick is the original premium brand, and should be sold as such.
