  1. Coupes tend to be hard to find in these parts. After I wrecked my Solara, I searched high and low for another, but there were issues with the few that I came across. I'll start looking after we get back from vacation, I should have plenty of time on my hands to look, since our yearly ice storm should be hitting sometime in early-mid January.
  2. There is a certain something special about ripping the paper off your gifts on Christmas morning.
  3. A different X6. I really dont get it.
  4. I had a '96 Century that I traded in on my L200 way back when, so I'm familiar with the 3100. Centuries are significantly cheaper than Regals and are much easier to find, most of them have pretty low miles. I found an '03 Monte Carlo, but its at a Buy-Here, Pay-Here lot and I dont know if they'll sell it outright for less than what Joe Bankrupt will end up paying.
  5. Trunk space is for pussies.... As I'm about to hop into my 37ft long station wagon
  6. Eh, I've been driving around in one car thats liable to start on fire, so thats nothing new. I think I'm going to go lot hopping this afternoon. Its nice out and I want to get a feel for prices. If I do find something decent on a used lot, it will have to wait until after the first of the year. Right now I'm thinking a good, cheap midsize coupe, Grand Prix (no GA) or Monte Carlo. Choices are pretty slim beyond that, although I wouldn't mind having another Century. Those things are dirt cheap, I saw a 2000 Century for $1800 the other day.
  7. My friend's wife's Elantra is actually a really nice ride. I'd definately put it ahead of the Cobalt when you take into consideration price vs. options. The Elantra is about $2,000 less until you take the Cobalt's endless discounts into account, then they're about even, and the Elantra is better looking.
  8. You obviously haven't seen the polls that say 60-70% of Americans wont buy a car from a bankrupt automaker.
  9. Ummm...not even close. MINI Cooper (6M) 28/37 MINI Cooper (6A) 25/34 Malibu (4cyl/6A) 22/33 Astra (5M) 24/32 Rabbit (5M) 21/29
  10. G5/Cobalts are typically driven by high school girls who cant drive for $h! and get into wrecks.
  11. I completely forgot about our Cadillac/Pontiac/GMC/SAAB dealership picking Buick up about a year ago. Buick had been part of Buick/Isuzu/Infiniti, but Buick left for C/P/G/S and Isuzu just dissolved, leaving Infiniti by itself.
  12. Just happened across a '98 Grand Prix GT coupe that might be just reasonable enough to get me into something fuel injected for not too much. I wont know how much til tomorrow, but it shouldn't be too bad. Miles are high, but thats not a huge concern for me with a 3800.
  13. Saw someone in a Fusion yesterday lock up their brakes because some idiot made a left turn in front of them but didn't realize traffic was backed up on the road they were trying to turn on to. That could have been ugly.
  14. The (evil) Chevy/Mercedes-Benz dealership is owned by the same company that owns the Toyota/Lexus/BMW (formerly had Porsche as well) dealership. The lots are on the opposite sides of town. There is another (non-evil) Chevy dealer a few miles away. 2 of the 3 Ford dealerships within 20 miles of me are Ford only, the other one is F/L/M but only recently picked up Lincoln and Mercury, after the Lincoln/Merc/Jeep dealership closed. Jeep was picked up by the Chrysler/Nissan dealership that also owns the Kia dealership thats up the block. The Saturn and Acura dealers are owned by the same group. I dont know who owns the Dodge dealership, buts its a cramped lot wedged in between a TV station and a residential area on the "poor" side of town. We haven;t had much movement in terms of new car lots, but used lots are popping up and shutting down every other week. Buy-here, pay-here lots are everywhere.
  15. If I had thought about gift bags yesterday when I was at the store, I would have gotten some, but I really didn't feel like going out again this morning and really wanted to get everything wrapped and out of the way.
  16. 2000 Firebird V6 Personally, I think its hideous, but for some reason other people like them.
  17. Wrapping Christmas presents sucks. I'm terrible at it, everything looks bad, but I really dont care since its going to end up all over my living room floor anyways. My brilliant plan (which was rejected) was to put everyone's gifts in their own pile, put a blanket or tarp or something over each pile then let everyone pull the cover off to reveal all their gifts at once. But no, everything has to be wrapped individually. Buckets of Lincoln Logs and sleeping bags are really hard to wrap.
  18. This morning was cold pizza and hot coffee.
  19. Ok, not really local (about 650 miles away) but this '83 Lesabre Estate is too crazy clean to not put up here, since I know other C&Gers share my wagon love, and there are a lot of B-body lovers out there too.
  20. '61 Biscayne -That would be a cool daily driver '86 Fiero GT -I should buy it just in case we run out of firewood this winter and need something that will combust. I agree they would look great on the wagon, and if I hadn't just blown my savings on Christmas, I'd pick them up. If I do get around to really working on semi-restoring the wagon, I'd want to keep the stock wheels, which are the same as the one pictured below. The problem is that I only have 2 of the center caps and I cannot seem to find 2 more. eBay is, so far, worthless, and local junkyards seem to be allergic to Buicks and b-bodies.

    Now what?

A little write-up from Electoral-vote this morning: Linkypoo
  22. disorder
  23. In a strange way, yes. I wouldn't buy one (I came close to getting an Element at one point, until I discovered it is impossible to sit in it comfortably) but I like them well enough.
  24. Harry pops up from time to time. Someone changed the password for 68p and wpb quite a while ago. Oddly, FlyBrain remains unmolested.
