  1. It takes less time to recoup an $18,000 investment (Impala) than a $21,000 investment (Camry). I pulled those numbers out of my ass, ut you get the idea. Rental agencies dont keep cars long enough for long-tern reliability to be an issue so they go with whatever they can get for less because it would have higher profit margins, as they cant really charge more to rent a Camry than a Malibu to cover the higher initial cost of the Camry.
  2. Mazdaspeed6--I want it, very very badly Enclave--My brother-in-law wants to replace the Rendezvous with it Acadia--Bro-in-law wouldn't mind picking this up to replace the 'Vous
  3. If you pay $16 out the door for a base Fusion, you have terrible negotiating skills, base models sit on lots forever (around here at least) so the dealers are a little more generous with them.
  4. I've experienced the 3.0 in the Mazda6 and the 3.5 in the Malibu (and Maxx) and while the Duratec isn't perfect, it was quieter on the road and felt peppier. And reg, the Fusion gets excellent mileage in the city with the air on.
  5. Yeah. Only problem with it (other than "normal" oil use) is that it sounds like a freaking weed eater. It'll rev forever, has enough torque to move itself off the line and gets 28mpg doing mostly city driving.
  6. Honestly, the 4cyl is great (its also what most people buy) but a little more power wouldn't hurt. The V6 could be better (its not GM 3.6) but it isn't terrible by any means (its no GM 3.5).
  7. The Fusion doesn't have the best interior (and the lighter colors are an absolute bitch to keep clean) but it isn't horrible, it is incredibly functional and has great cupholders. Mine also has no squeaks or rattles and is very quiet on the highway. Better integration of the radio and HVAC would be nice (and is supposedly coming) and some extra dressing on the gaugues would help a bit. I've heard complaints that the HVAC controls were mounted too low, but I will pay that price for the dash top storage bin. The SEL with leather acceptable for the $22k sticker(SEL FWD 4cyl manual) and more than acceptable for the $18-19k you would actually be able to buy the car for. The I4 appearence package adds red accents to the interior and actually looks sharp.
  8. The situation and circumstances often dictate how much I hold back. Harmony in a small group is far better than being right about something that, at the end of the day, is insignificant.
  9. Hey Fly, there is a secret to getting into gated communities. It requires committing a crime or two, but sometimes its worth it. Or just talk to a local pizza delivery guy, if there is an unguarded gate with a keypad, drivers usually know the code. Hell, I still remember the code for one around here and I haven't delivered in over a year.
  10. Point-counter-point is at least interesting, far more than constant GM humping. Its like politics, you listen to two candidates from the same party and nothing really gets said, you listen to two candidates from different parties, and the opinions differ, it actually makes people think.
  11. Its just a hobby, I've been in photography most of my life, just haven't had space and equipment for a darkroom since moving to Missouri. The first thing I did after buying my parent's house was to set up Alex's room, I was going to follow with a darkroom, which is going in the master bathroom, since its almost never used anymore.
  12. Seriously, its hard to dwell on crap when you're occupied 40 hours a week, it makes the other 148 hours of the week seem more valuable.
  13. Yesterday was great, I got to drive to Kansas City to pick up my enlarger, now I have almost everything I need for my darkroom.
  14. No, there were many documented Focus engine fires, probably started by the Detroit Free Press or New York Times.
  15. Those early Focuses also burst into flames. Oh wait, that was probably just the media blowing things out of proportion.
  16. I like the bill because it will force the automakers to invest in alternative fuels. The government shouldn't be responsible for everything, in fact a few of "hot button" issues (abortion, gay marriage to name two) shouldn't be put on the federal government because the states can handle these issues on their own. This bill does include loopholes (as far as I can tell, haven't read it yet, just articles) that the automakers can exploit, for instance hydrogen powered cars don't run on fossil fuels, therefore aren't in this bill's domain. Plug-in hybrids, with the right battery technology, should be able to get more than 35mpg by 2020, and if ethanol research is increased and production is expanded, it'll decrease the dependence on foreign oil. This bill puts all automakers backs against the wall, I'm willing to bet one or two fight their way out.
  17. Whats funny is the the Toyota/Honda people say the exact same thing, "I hate GM/Ford and I love to rip on them" type stuff. Guess what, neither side is right and neither side is wrong, its all based on personal preference and perception, which is what makes the constant Toyota bashing so f@#king annoying.
  18. "View new posts" Doesn't matter what the subgroups are, I never would have noticed.
  19. From most rear angles, it looks like what it is, a gussied up G6, from the side, its as awkward as every other Epsilon.
  20. This one? or this one?
  21. Any wedding that includes a hummer is a good wedding.

    iPhone

It runs OS X, so viruses wont be a problem, at least at first.
  23. Holy crap, now that you mention that, it actually does.

Its coming, and I want one badly, I just cant get anyone from AT&T to tell me if I'll have to renew my contract to get one for $599. I really don't want to renew, but I also don't want to see what they go for when they hit eBay.
  25. Not really the same thing, but I found out yesterday that a girl I went out with a few years ago recently got out of jail after running her boyfriend over with her car.
