Any one up for it? The only regular posters here that I know of from Ohio are Hyper and 67 IMP, but Moltar/Cubitar/Cubical is from here and visits, Z06 goes to Michigan often, and Olds often comes to Columbus. Would be willing to go anywhere in state to meet some fellow C and G guys....anyone up for it?

http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/pebble-beach-faux-pas/53459/page1/ I guess I need to write a column on this stuff for our sister magazine, Classic Motorsports, but I will share this with you guys first. I am always nervous out here representing at Monterey and Pebble Beach. Those of you who know me, know I am much more comfortable in a junk yard, than at the Rolex dinner. So last night, I am talking to long time friend and GRM supporter, and west coast Ford P.R. guy, John Clinard. He is standing and talking to another guy as well and I nonchalantly ask this guy, if he too is a Ford Guy. He quickly retorts, “no, I am a Chevy guy... what do you think!?“ John Cli…

We all hear the holiday songs over and over this month, but sometimes your mind plays tricks on you. What lyric do you always hear wrong even if you know the right words. For me, it's "No Place like home for the holidays" I always hear the lyric "... from Atlantic to Specific... gee the traffic is terrific...."

Alright, since my hand was tipped in the thread that was going the other direction I'll do this one now. What one brand do you think is truly expendable? What one brand of car would you get rid of, why, and would you do anything with the products it is currently making? I know GM is already shutting down the plants but so far planning to keep the name, but I say let Holden go. There are a couple of their vehicles which have already been rebadged under the Chevrolet umbrella, and I say go ahead and do that with the remaining models that don't have straight-up matches already in the Chevy line-up. Most importantly, this gives the opportunity to bring back the El Cam…

The goal of this game isn't to stump the next person, but instead to give the next person as many ways out as possible. Here's how we play. 1. Person posts a favorite movie quote and names the characters/actors. 2. The next person can quote another movie by any of the prior actor's co-actors, but not from the actors in the quote. For example Colonel Mustard: How many husbands have you had? Mrs. White: Mine or other women's? Colonel Mustard: Yours. Mrs. White: Five. Colonel Mustard: Five? Mrs. White: Yes, just the five. Husbands should be like Kleenex: soft, strong and disposable. Colonel Mustard: You lure men to …

I have a 2013 Buick LaCrosse. I've used both iPhones and Android phones paired to my car, no problem. I always "voice dial" which ridiculously requires me to turn the radio on before it accepts commands, but in the past several months, I'd say 50+% of the time, I get the "Dialing failed" comment. Let me break it down. Previously what would happen: 1) Press voice command button and hear, "Please say your command." 2) I say, "Call Melinda on cell." 3) "Dialing".... and call goes through. Now, more than half the time: 1) Press voice command button and hear, "Please say your command." 2) I say, "Call Melinda on cell." 3) *long pause* 4) "Dialing failed." 5)…

Well, as I alluded to in this thread, I had some pretty big plans this past weekend. My father and I drove 5.5 hours to Cortland NY for an estate auction. The reason for this journey: a 1969 Corvette convertible...yellow/black, 350/300 engine, auto, factory a/c. The body was a little rough and it needed some interior bits, but everything was there and the frame was good (C3 frames tend to rot around the door sills and in front of the rear wheels). For the right price, it would have made a worthwhile project, along with accomplishing my goal of owning a Corvette before I die. Now here's where it gets interesting. We had with us the Corvette Black Book, which had the engin…

Currently have a car up for auction. Was contacted by eBay member who wants to bid, but is in Sweden. Auction ad states $500 deposit due within 48 hrs, balance in cash when picking up car. He gave his name, same named person in Sweden has a FB page, there are a few pics of cars there; apparently he recently sold a '58 Lincoln. He asked/offered other ways of payment, asked about bank transfer or paying in full thru PayPal. - - - - - There's no way for an in-full payment thru PP to go awry, is there? * After my 11/11/2011 open heart surgery, I drove for the first time, 12/15/2011. I had a rush of excitement when I pulled my 1979 Caprice Classic out of the garage, where it had been with my 5 MCs. As I drove down the road, my thoughts turned to other cars, particularly ones I'd love to purchase... ...mid-late 1970s LTD/Thunderbird ...1975 Caprice Classic convertible ...1976 Caprice Classic sedan ...1989 Caprice Classic sedan ...1987 MC SS Aerocoupe ...2011 Dodge Charger ...& too many others.... Last weekend my closest group of friends drove downtown and went to the St. Louis Auto Show. It had been a handful of years since I last went so it was set up a little different not in a bad way just different. * I’ve a love-hate relationship with photos of vehicles abandoned. Don’t like that vehicles are just left to sit there, but … they do make for awesome pictorial subjects. Found this on Yahoo about 9 models that blow you away with small engines. First and foremost is this from the story: Qoute "Sedan or coupe, the compact Caddy is among the industry’s best-kept secrets, more fun to drive than even a BMW 3-Series. That lively, engaging personality is best experienced with the 2.0-liter turbo four, rather than the pricier and more pedestrian 3.6-liter V-6, or the outright anemic 2.5-liter four sans turbocharger." Over all a great read and even SMK's lowly Mercedes Benze gets a spot. https://www.yahoo.com/autos/nine-models-that-prove-small-engines-can-beat-big-116392112457.html

http://public.fotki.com/robertwadehall/az-auto-auctions-2014/ I went to the Gooding & Company auction on Friday and Barrett-Jackson Friday and Saturday, took a few pics at the link above. Saw quite a few interesting cars, incl. a McLaren F1 LM (first I'd ever seen in person), 1998 Ferrari F1 car, various '50s-60s Ferraris, Maseratis, Lancias, Alfas, and countless muscle cars and '50s-70s American iron. Fun weekend. At the GM exhibit saw the '14 Camaro Z/28 in matte pearl white (Rick Hendrick bought it for $650k or so), saw and sat in a silver Chevy SS and dark red '14 CTS V-sport....really liked the SS and CTS in person, look better than in photos.

What do you see as unique about North America as a place to market cars? Why do some cars, which sell well elsewhere, like the Jag F type, rot on dealer lots here? And why do we sell cars like the KIA Soul like candy to a pedophile?

I am giving someone a gift...I'd like to include something special in the package... so I need you guys to help me find something. I need a high-res, desktop wallpaper worthy picture of a Toyota Camry or Corolla, beige preferably, in some elegant pose. Toyota PR pictures preferred. Lets see who can come up with the best "gag" for this gift!

It seems like many folks are either in a state of disbelief or a state of indifference with regard to the breaches, namely the Equifax breach, among others. So, 143 million were impacted and our population is now probably around 325 million. When you remove the under 21 crowd, the elderly on limited incomes who aren't doing much with credit, and folks who don't have much input into their credit reports because they don't use it, that's almost all Americans between 30 and 70. Their investigating the situation was big news at the very beginning but I haven't heard much about it. I don't believe that the company's stock took much of a hit. Then, on the heels of that…
