SPY SHOTS! 2008 SAAB 9-3 MCE Link to Original Article & Full Image @ TrollhattanSaab If you liked the Aero-X look, you'll love the refreshed 9-3 for 2008. Other exterior visual enhancements appear to include chromed door handles and possibly LED daytime-running lamps. Definitely a bolder look for GM's Sweedish import marque.

By Mike Harrison Dec. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Spyker Cars NV today said it has submitted a renewed offer for General Motors Co.’s Saab unit. “An 11-point proposal had been submitted to GM, addressing each of the issues that arose during the due diligence process” which will “remove each of the obstacles that were standing in the way of a swift transaction,” Spyker Chief Executive Officer Victor R. Muller said in a statement. GM last week said it will shut the money-losing Saab unit after talks collapsed on a sale to Spyker, the second failure in less than a month to keep the 72-year-old Swedish brand alive. GM and Spyker decided there was “no point in carrying on” after …

Spyker CEO Says GM Has Responded to New Bid for Saab By Ola Kinnander and Jeroen Molenaar Dec. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Spyker Cars NV Chief Executive Officer Victor Muller said General Motors Co. has responded to the Dutch sports-car maker’s revised bid for the Saab unit, days after the U.S. carmaker said it will shutter the brand. Saab would still seek a development loan from the European Investment Bank under the new offer, Muller, 50, said today in a telephone interview. The CEO declined to say whether Russian businessman Vladimir Antonov, the chairman and biggest investor in the Zeewolde, Netherlands-based sports-car maker, still has a role in the new bid. Gene…

The sale will bring 15 million euros up front and then another 17 million euros over the next six years (A total of $44 million). Based on a mix of the re-engineered Theta and Epsilon 2 architectures, the mid-sized crossover will make its debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January. It has also been revealed that Cadillac will get a version of the vehicle to help spread development costs. According to Saab boss Jan Ake Jonsson, both models are expected to get GM's new diesel engine co-developed with VM Motori, which puts out 250 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque…

The Car Connection on the Saab 9-5 Very nice. I love the nip/tuck that Saab performed on the 2006 9-5's skin. I've never seen anything as menacing as the gouged-out eyes look with the chrome outline. They also performed surgery on the 9-5's interior, structure and powerplant. Is this enough to satisfy the critics of TCC? Read the 2006 Saab 9-5 Review @ The Car Connection

The Continuing Story of Saab, Part 412.5: Three Ring Circus William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com October 22, 2011 Saab’s goal of getting out bankruptcy is turning very nasty. First, Autocar is reporting the court-appointed administrator placed in charge of the company's reorganization affairs, Guy Lofalk has asked the Swedish court to terminate the automaker's reorganization process. Lofalk doesn’t have enough confidence in Saab getting enough funding to continue with the process. This move would end the Saab’s protection from creditors while it looked for money. Saab is upset with Lofalk’s decision and has applied to the Swedish court to…

Just wondering, now since the GM-Subaru relation's dissolved, will the 9-2x be gone as well? Will the rumoured 9-2 on Delta make a return?

Does anyone know when the next 9-3 debuts? I haven't heard anything about it, and I now that the 9-5 has been heavily refreshed I was wondering if the 9-3 would get the same treatment.

The Saab Saga Continues: GM Threatens to Shelve 9-4x By "black-knight" C&G Editor/Reporter 8th November, 2011 If you've been following the story of Saab since GM cut its ties with the Swedish automaker then you'd know that things are not all well and good in Scandinavia. However, things may only continue to get worse. Recently, Saab CEO Victor Muller, who has risked everything to continue the Saab legacy (going so far as to sell Spyker, the sports car firm that brought him good fortune), announced that Chinese automakers were interested in supporting Saab with a fifty-fifty partnership. Then, not too long after that, those same Chinese autom…

Last week, Saab announced a partnership with Chinese auto maker, Hawtai Motor Company. The partnership would have brought much needed funds to the struggling Swedish automaker. I have recently been driving a pristine, '01 Saab 9-3 5door, which was recently acquired by my company. Fun, roomy and very practical (my 70lb. dog can fit in the rear hatch area)...I really like the car...everything works, except a burnt out headlamp. Not a big deal, right? Here's the issue: EVERY time you turn on the car, it's messanging center describes ALL of the car's current problems (low washer fuid, headlamp out)...in big, bold letters that sit there if you don't use the radio or manually clear them... So, as a consumer, you are reminded of flaws each time you sit in the car. Could this influence people filling out surveys? I think it could. My wife notices …

Unstable atom Jun 18th 2009 From The Economist print edition Does the troubled Swedish firm have a future? AFPKoenigsegg attempts fusion THE fact that bankrupt General Motors appears to have flogged three of its unwanted brands—Saturn to a car dealer, Hummer to a Chinese maker of heavy-duty trucks and now Saab to a tiny sports car company—lends substance to the idea that there’s one born every minute. The buyers may not be paying much, but at a time when the car industry should be consolidating rather than atomising, they are taking on an awful lot of risk. Of the three, only the fate of Saab will be of any concern to car lovers: Saturns were sold to people who wer…

So we all know that a redesigned 9-5 and 9-3 are on their way until the end of the decade, and it seems some sort of crossover will be part of their lineup as well. What about models smaller than the 9-3? Personally, I'd like to see two models: a 9-2 based on a future Opel Astra and a 9-1 destined to be a MINI competitor. It seems both audi and Alfa ave approved models to go against the MINI and I'd like to see Saab do something in that 'subcompact premium models' (not sure if the terminology is correct).

...going to finally get rid of all that cheap-ass rubber molding on the sides of their cars and switch to body-colored? Honestly, it makes the 9-7X more appealing because of its lack of rubber. Check out the pic on SAAB's main page - it looks sort of hot. Seriously, guys. Its not an '87 Ciera...
