Where is Mercedes' super cruise? What's the matter? Are they too cheap? Where is their plug-in with 40 miles ev range? Still too cheap? Why do Mercede's power trains consistently lag Cadillac's in output for a given configuration? Why does it take a V8 from Benz to exceed a Turbo 6 from Cadillac? Why can't Benz build a Turbo 6 to beat Cadillac without throwing electric motors on it to help out? Too cheap? Why can't Benz build a suspension that has faster reaction time than Cadillac? I guess they're just too cheap Or you're just a troll.3 points

You're just a troll. The German brands did a lot of hand wringing over adding AWD and a lot of purists bashed them for it. Where is BMW's or Mercedes' four wheel steering? I guess they're just too cheap to do it.2 points

Chevy Cruze - Honestly one of the best cars in the segment, certainly the ability to option up to the nicest interior in the class. The Civic stole the show and people just buy Corollas automatically without considering alternatives. Lacks the visual distinctiveness of "little car that looks like a big car" that the previous generation had. Chevy would rather sell you a Trax. Jeep Cherokee - It's going far better than the Liberty did, but it still lags way behind the CR-V, Escape, and RAV4. More engine choices and some true off-road ability options make it a compelling offering. The interior is one of the better ones FCA does. Still, the early transmission problems and unconventional looks have held it back. The update may help significantly. Cadillac CT6 - A car as big as the DTS that weighs as little as a 335xDrive. It handles great, has 4 great powertrain options, optional 4-wheel steering, one of the best interiors in the GM lineup, starting price equal to the next size class and engine class down over at the makes from Deutschland. Super Cruise. Styling grew stale rather quickly and Cadillac does virtually nothing to advertise it, the advertising dollars are for Super Cruise, not CT6. The striking new look may help, but not if Cadillac doesn't get the word out.2 points

The CTS is more the 5-series competitor...about the same size.1 point

OK : we wrapped this up today, thank God. '16 Sonic LTZ hatch, 1.6T, 6-speed auto, 35K miles. Got some minor dings outside (I don't care), interior is excellent. Pretty loaded up as a LTZ, drives better than I expected. It was $9700.1 point

I don't think the M5 and CT6 Vsport are really direct competitors. Yeah sure nuff both sedans, both sporty, both V8s... but they share not much else really.1 point

Yeah, seen to be the same style....1 point

Assuming MB/AMG's engines make what they claim, why do they need to make more when they already leave their Cadillac competition in the dust?? Why can't Cadillac make an interior even half as nice an MB? Why are their backseats so small? Why do their dealers think it's still the 80's? And to anyone who thinks this is going to outperform the new M5......just lol. That car is a monster.1 point

I think the Cherokee's smallish cargo area limits its appeal to families. With the Compass as good as it is now and almost the same size, the Cherokee should grow a bit next gen and better compete with the class leaders. It is very appealing otherwise IMO.1 point

I've seen Vseries numbers lower than that at other publications and so have U. But cherry picking to fit your hate seems to be your natural trait. Either way.. AWD is the reason for the advantage that the M5 has in out accelerating the V. The CT6 addresses this.. I can attest that launching my 640hp beast on the fly is a chore unless launch control is perfectly engaged. Furthermore I will tell U that U are crazy if U think the CTS-V is gonna hit the market without AWD and a nice Milford beat down of the M5 and E63Amg before hitting the market. I wouldn't be surprised if the CT6 out accelerates both the new M5 and CTS-V with this system coupled with the 10speed1 point

Compared to ALL Traditional TT V8 motors, the PUSHROD is Smaller packaged, weighs less and takes up less Space. Cadillac took a totally different approach and put both Turbo's in the Valley of the V so rather than be on the outside of the motor, it is in the center. Electronic Turbo's do not need the pulley to drive them and can be packaged for a tight design something that another member had brought up long ago in the original start of debate about Pushrod versus DOHC motors. Yet NO ONE not even MB has packaged them this way to be tightly integrated. This is truly a change in thinking to package and drop the added weight of the plumbing, belts, etc. Truly a more efficient design now that materials and computer programming have dealt with the Thermal issues. Will all be nothing once AWD EV with proper battery packs takes over.1 point

Balthy, doing his detective thing. Yes it seems like a riff on the Chevy/Olds Rally/Super Stock steel sport wheel. Pontiac had their Rally II steel sport wheel, which, to me, is the most iconic of its type. All with accoutrements. I've never seen the Buick version, but it is clearly different from her siblings. The red convertible in Balthy's link appears to have a charcoal metallic finish. Maybe the color keyed version was some sort of "Spring Special Edition" or a regional package on the Skylark?1 point

I like everything on that car but that "butt" If cars had mating seasons, this would be a perfect example.......1 point

I certainly hope you get something along these lines and add it to the C and G fleet. Cadillac has been impressing the hell out of me lately.1 point

I like the brand but very limited head room with the concept. BMW needs to cut their losses and come up with a new direction I think.1 point

VW Golf and its variants including the Sportwagen, GTI etc. Very popular abroad. Somewhat popular in Canada. Not so much in the US.1 point

It makes you wonder if the real plan was that the One Ford Plan ultimately kills Lincoln since there is no true brand creator and advocate for the nearly 100 year-old marque. Dearborn apparently has no vision for this marque, so the best thing to do I guess is to bury it like they Mercury a few years back. The moral of this story is: GO BIG (Cadillac) or go home. Stand for something or fall for anything (and eventually just fall).1 point

I agree. This opinion, for me, would apply to most any new vehicle purchase.1 point

The key to owning something like the Continental is a lease...I wouldn't buy one. Drive it 3 years then move on. Or maybe a CPO w/ extended warranty. I wouldn't want to have any modern electronics-heavy vehicle out of warranty and aging. I've learned from experience never keep anything from the 21st century past 100k miles, that's when the electronics tend to go to shit...1 point
