Naaah.. I'm only immature when it comes to foreign cars and lovers of such ?. The "U" comes from my luv of Prince music, and the way I speak in type is similar in flow to the way I would speak in casual conversation. This is no English class last I checked4 points

This.. my daughter started off like this.. but when I and her mother basically said "No.. if U wanna go somewhere now, since U're 16+.. its only gonna be school or work" BOOM!!! Just like that.. "Daddy can U take me to get my license?" Now.. she puts miles on that Cruze.. as she did the Equinox she had before. FUKK THAT!!! I'm not enabling bullcrap behavior.. thus in essence backtracking progress. Now I gotta get out there and see what are basically Station Wagons and Minivans marring the roads and holding up traffic when Corollas and Priui did just fine pissing me off. UUUUUM the state of the youth of today.. WE SCREWED THEM UP!!! We didn't wan't them to have to deal with the non-hugs and strict knowing of what we did by our parents.. who were parents.. so we became their friends.. and they in turn use us. Honestly.. we are the first parents in generations that in unison scream in a whisper.. "JESUS CHRIST THESE KIDS ARE LAME!" But we do it with a whisper, because if they hear us.. they will run to school touting a book bag in one hand and a AR in the other and shoot up the place because of self-esteem issues. Damn BARNEY the Dinosaur4 points

If I try my damnedest to be fair, the Chevy Impala went out of production in 1985, returned for 1994-1996, left, only to reappear again in 2004. It is a real shame about the latest model though, as it is a real beauty... even convincing the (guilty as sin of hating on domestics) "Consumer Reports" magazine to name it as best in class.4 points

Hey, the broncos beat Pittsburgh with that interception so.... In other news, a sane discussion of the pros and cons of electric cars, something that we seem to lake here from time to time. They are coming back, like a lot of other things in Ohio.3 points

I hope you stub your toe some time this week and it lingers for a day or two. I may try and go to Indy for the Cowboys/Colts game. It's about a 4 hour drive for me and I have some vacation time to take off yet..3 points

The platform is said to be able to be used to build sedans off of. There was talk about this being the basis for the next Continental.3 points

With as much torque as its got, GT is absolutely the right name.3 points

That's pretty funny....for some reason, Mr CtG, I thought you were a Millennial (under 30). Mistaken..3 points

Could well be. interesting that America is finally falling in love with hatchbacks, just supersized ones.2 points

I think they'll become a niche luxury product largely the way coupes have gone.2 points

It isn't an English class but it is a communication skills test every time you type something. Or should I say, "Every time U type something". I'm not perfect by any means but I've never jumped on the whole shortening as much as possible. It's annoying and looks lazy, in my opinion.2 points

That's better, less vomit-inducing than the regular one or the 1500.2 points

If I were 25, I'd be living in a major tech city but probably have an SUV. Closer to 50, I like being in the suburbs with a yard and square footage, though I'd like more garage space. But I'm never going back to rural. My Dad loved the farm, I liked it as a kid, but now couldn't take the isolation and lack of nearby amenities..2 points
-
Actually, it is worse than that. It seems that Millennials would rather live in cities and take public transportation instead of driving a car. If you look at who is buying (or leasing) CUVs, most buyers are past 40 not under 25.2 points
-
That's actually funny and somewhat true While they don't have anything rugged like trucks or real SUVs they still can get dirty (in a suburban way, not true country stile)2 points

My question is whether Porsche buyers will purchase a 911 hybrid seven years from now. There is no indication that they will buy it in large enough numbers for it to be worthwhile from an investment point of view.2 points

The upcoming Lincoln Aviator will be offering a very potent plug-in hybrid powertrain offering 450 horsepower and a whopping 600 pound-feet of torque. But what will Lincoln call this Aviator model? Most competitors use something like E-Hybrid, PHEV, or a 'e' to the end of the model. According to Automotive News, Lincoln will be using the Grand Touring (GT) to designate electrified variants. "Quite simply, it came down to, what does it do? And what it does is that it makes the vehicle more exciting to drive. It's the purest definition of Grand Touring," said Robert Parker, Lincoln's marketing chief. Lincoln went through various names, "including variations of the letter E," in internal discussions and focus groups before landing on Grand Touring. "Consumers may have liked the word but didn't know what it meant. If I have to go spend money to describe to customers what a new word means, I've taken money away from promoting Aviator," explained Parker. "You can talk yourself into these letters and conventions, but when you go out into the consumer space, they're very confused. EcoBoost wasn't new; direct-injection technology was around in the late '80s, but nobody seemed to find the magic until EcoBoost." We'll see if this works out for Lincoln when the Aviator begins hitting dealers next summer. Source: Automotive News (Subscription Required) View full article1 point

The old SUV game was real SUVs. I don't count the Kicks and Soul as anything but tall hatchbacks.1 point

...and this is the positive bushiness case for killing off the Taurus and the Fiesta. I would rather they focus on building exceptional vehicles rather than being everything to everybody. Lookjing forward to this coming to market.1 point

That's hooked up to the V6 and like @Robert Hall said, they may have run into some packing issues.1 point

Aren't people tired of that crap though? The actual term Grand Touring works exactly here. I think some people see/read GT and think "sporty" when a true GT vehicle isn't necessarily sporty but powerful and can eat up miles very easily.1 point

Maybe they are thinking GT--Green Touring.1 point

I don't see it as rugged at all. Just really really ugly.1 point

Porsche has been hemming and hawing on whether or not to move forward with hybridizing the 911. Previously, Porsche said they would be bringing out a hybrid option for the 911 in 2022. But now, Porsche is putting those plans on hold until battery technology gets to a point where they see it as beneficial for the model. “Today the battery technology wouldn’t be satisfying for us, and if it doesn’t satisfy us then we won’t offer it. It doesn’t make sense to offer a hybrid version which will just stay in the showroom, ” said August Achleitner, product-line director for the 911. “It will be the next evolution of this car, that means at least four years from today.” Some of the key issues deal with the additional weight that would come from adding a hybrid system, along with making sure the hybrid powertrain is able to help with overall performance. Here is how Auto Express describes it, There is talk about Porsche possibly offering two hybrid variants of 911 - a middle of the range model to serve as an alternative to the Carrera and one to serve as the performance flagship, something akin to the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. But it's going to be some time before we see any hybrid arrive on the 911. Source: Auto Express, Drive View full article1 point

They have more money than God and anything to get them attention will keep them in that position. And watching you two fight like my cats when I dump cat treats on the floor is highly amusing. Lots of progressive people in Pennsylvania want Teslas. I see a bunch on the road there. And nothing wrong with Horse and Buggy either. Looking forward to that day.1 point

Remember, in blu’s area, ‘alternative power’ means horse and buggy, not EV or hybrids.1 point

I just don't see any problem with the HD being rugged looking. It's currently being reported that the new Ford SD will have as large a grill. Truth is, people who buy these are not buying them for the same reason they buy a luxury SUV or sports car.. Go figure. They buy them to do a job. Plus.. Intimidation is the motivator of some, and this sucker looks mean?1 point

You must not live in an area that has money to burn and engineers that are more excited about the new faster tech and cars than old stuff. New money is all made on the west coast I guess, static quo on the east coast then? ?♂️1 point

Nicer looking than the Trax and Equinox but not sure it would have the same success as the Suzuki's of 25 years ago with the segment so crowded now.1 point

My problem with Mazda is their relentless pursuit of "urban" style in their vehicles. They have nothing that is country-fied, like me. I do think they're purdy but they just don't fit my personality. The old B-Series truck and the Tribute were the last Mazdas that were remotely suited to country life. New ones are so cute I'd be afraid to get them dirty.1 point

Isn't that the SOP for GM? Fewer features and cheaper components on lower trim levels? Make you pay more to get the good stuff..1 point

Well, at least having a unimog on the lots (among all the refrigerator sprinters & metris's), would make the 1 or 2 g-wagons look like they were designed in this century. Or... maybe not. Uhhh, I don't see how that's possible. Wipers, heat, lights, sensors, etc all use juice. I plowed for a number of winters in V8 trucks- they don't use a lot of gas because the engine hardly develops any RPMs pushing snow. I use to pull 10 hour shifts and fuel the truck at the end of that shift. I know the capability of a V8 IC plow truck, but what an EV truck does, IDK. But no one is going to push snow in a $70K truck.1 point

Other than trucks, there hasn't really been cars I've lusted after that have been made since I've had a driver's license. We're talking a number of decades here.1 point

I don't know what to do here. I assumed that, at any given time in my life, GM would sell sedans, coupes, and pony cars that were relevant to the times and have at least one or two vehicles that matched my taste in a set of wheels. Things are very different from a decade ago. It used to be that there were usually 2 to 3 cars that I couldn't decide between. If only I had that problem today ...1 point

It will take 100 years for no ICE on the roads except in collectors hands and that is only if the planet figures out how to build electrical grids in 3rd world countries that are not destroyed by terrorists. By 2050 I expect most 1st world countries will have moved over to electric cars with old ICE collector auto's still out and about. Course the sooner I can covert myself the better.1 point

Sorry, but I'm of the opinion that it's time for purpose built work pickups to go back to being rugged. Ford started this bullish!t back in '97 making trucks soft looking like cars. In the 1500.. Cool.. make it buttoned down looking as that market is using them sometimes for family stuff... But the HD versions are 90% work, not to mention the people who are not seeing it fit is use are same ones who would be need a hand gettin down from one... Likes maiden from a carriage1 point
