  1. I get what you are saying but you missed the point of the post. May want to read that again. The price is irrelevant and the fact that GM has three RWD platforms illustrates my point. They have them yet they don’t fully use them. Instead, they have retreated from those platforms a bit and pushed more FWD CUVs through Cadillac of all brands, instead using those RWD platforms to put Cadillac above the likes of Acura, Volvo, and Lincoln. The most irrelevant part of your post though is the failure to realize that Kia is not nearly as bad as you think and I surely would not have said that about them ten years ago. They are reaching out with RWD cars in a CUV world while GM misses the boat and pushes FWD CUVs four to five years after they should have. I’d happily take an AWD Tour X if it had the 420HP 3.6L Turbo found in the CTS. That would actually be a bad ass Buick. Even with the common N/A 3.6L, it’s still tempting but again, I am a wagon person. Wishful thinking though as GM just doesn’t seem interested in giving Buick some real Powertrain options, much like they are doing to Cadillac’s CUVs. The NA 3.6L will only get you so far in a turbo driven world.

  3. Good for them to put some excitement and performance into a crossover. 340 would be more horsepower than any Acura, Cadillac or Infiniti crossover I believe, since those 3 brands feel like a 310 hp V6 is MAX power for a crossover.

  4. I'm going to have one sooner or later. Some details I love the about the Challenger---huge number of variations available, manual available, multiple V8s, an actual trunk, a 2dr w/ frameless door glass, hefty, RWD, and 4 distinct headlights, not melted lighting globs. The car has so much character in a retro modern package. Slyman's Tavern in Independence, OH has a great selection of beers...the corned beef sliders were delicious.

  5. Went out for happy hour, alas, it started raining so I couldn't sit outside, but still, 57 degrees and intermittent sun for February in NE Ohio isn't bad. Parked outside the bar was a sharp bright blue w/ black hood & wheels late model Challenger T/A and a dark red Grand Cherokee SRT. Tasty Mopies...

  6. Back to the GS, one thing where I was really disappointed in was the interior. There is nothing bad about it... it's just ..... dull. 300, Charger, ATS, CTS, CT6.... yep

  11. Next year will see Volkswagen unveil the next-generation Golf GTI. It was reported that the model would utilize a mild-hybrid setup to boost fuel economy and improve low-end response. This decision was made under the leadership of former Volkswagen chairman Matthias Müller and would have become the flagship model for a new range of mild-hybrid models badged as IQ. But a new report from Autocar says the new chairman, Herbert Diess has canned the powertrain. No reason was given as to why this decision was reversed. Volkswagen is still planning to do mild-hybrid versions of the standard Golf that will utilize a 48-Volt electrical system. Autocar says the next-generation GTI will use an updated version of the turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder producing either 252 or 286 horsepower. The current model in the U.S. punches out 227 horsepower. A six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch will be the available transmissions. Source: Autocar

  13. As far as pony cars go, Dodge has the firmest grasp on what customers want from the genre. I love the Mustang also, and find its sales decline disconcerting. The Camaro, with all its excellence in power and chassis engineering, comes across as antiseptic and a bit unfriendly. I would own a Challenger R/T first, a Mustang GT second, and a Camaro SS third... seems to be the general consensus in the sales race these days as well.

  15. Maybe you should take a visit up here and see for yourself. You know, Montreal is not Lancaster... in that the Province of Quebec with its Crown Corporation Hydro-Quebec actually produces a good chunk of the world's hydro-electricity. At a fairly cheap price for us Quebeckers to consume... Its too bad you dont believe. Please, come take a visit. Ill take you out on a date to entice you. We'll catch a Habs hockey game while we're at it. The Penguins or Flyers? You choose.

  16. Oh, yeah..I love those 1970ish trim names. And the stripes and various hood scoops.. The car is unabashedly embracing 1970s style muscle car fun..not trying to be a BMW or Mercedes.

  20. ...lots of people getting taps on the shoulder today... I worry that the cuts are too deep and too quick. I can't decide if the entire design studio should get the ax or not. Keep the guy/lady who did the CT6, make them the boss, and chuck the rest of them.

  21. Used 2016-2017 GSes can be had for stupid cheap prices. I see them regularly in the low $20k range. 8000 miles - $25,995

  22. The GS, even the prior gen GS, is surprisingly capable for such tasks. While it is less true with the current generation, the prior one was one of the best balance, best handling FWD cars out there.

  25. It's the only GM midsize AWD/FWD hatchback in the US market. That's a unique configuration. I know that's a small detail, but it was all I could think of...I didn't have GM in there, but then I remembered the Audi A7 and BMW 5 series GT also are midsize hatchbacks.

  26. Donj't get me started on stupid people...my daughter the claims agent....had to deal with a customer that thought they needed a new engine because they had put too much gas in the gas tank. Sorry if that story is a repeat...but stupid people are legion when it comes to cars.

  27. A little harsh on GM as a whole but not on the GS. Three pages in....no one can give me a single reason to be excited about this ride. Sad.

  29. Seeing a Stinger first hand, I’m pretty darn sure the GT would mop the floor with GS, and give a good fight to th A4. love the way the GS looks, but not as much from there...Hands down the Koreans are not playing, just dusting GM enough to rush faster into the EV world with their tail between their legs ...... I honestly don’t expect GM to release anything that gets those hot chicks excited about your ride....and I can pretty much throw the new Vette in as well....simply put- GM’s heart is no longer in ICE, it’s in EV, riding sharing, scooters and go carts..... Still enjoy a good ride? Maybe even with a bit of power? Well, I hear FCA might still have something for you..... Don’t see much of a future for the GS...unless you count the parking lot in front of your local American House......

  30. Holy Sch!%% Sherlock...when you cast shade....you don't eff around. I am glad I am not your wife....I would hate to be in a marital dispute with you. Best come back in twelve years on C and G. Has anyone ever thought that maybe by accepting sub par products from carmakers we enable mediocrity? in 1970...we would not have accepted a badge engineered Opel/Peugeot for a Buick....or a Wreath and Crest slapped on a Pontiac Safari wagon for a Cadillac....but if we accept the GS and the XT6 that is kind of what we are doing.

  32. Then maybe you should wake up to the future that is coming. Oil Companies have as Shell will have their stations outfitted with Chargers for pay just like in Europe starting this year as they go about installing all across North America. Read the future here:

  33. I keep searching, but I have not found a replacement for my Jeep. It is a perfect size. It has no power so I cannot get myself in trouble. It goes well in inclement weather. It has a stick. It is comfortable. It gets decent mileage for my commute. AND it is green. Turning over 37k miles soon. I've paid down on it a good bit, but I am always concerned about resale with any of my vehicles due to the number of miles I accumulate. So still I search. Silverado is too big and expensive, no regular cab shortbed available. Colorado has nothing substantively new since its resurrection. Passport is Asian in decent, even if it is as American as a Honda can get. Ram Classic is neat, and available in regular cab shortbed, but it is old. F-150 is too big for garage and is made of beer cans. Ranger is cool, leary of fuel mileage with EB 4. Blazer is too much money for what it is in the trim level I'd settle for. Edge is nicer than Blazer, really. Maybe the 2020 Trax/Granite/Encore will be a lively competitor. Keenly innerested in passing judgment on them. I wonder what is coming to Chicago? Is anyone donning their Kevlar vest and hitting the show? Do we have a preview, or is everything a secret?
