if it's only like $500, i could see a big take rate for it, but if it's above $1000, only the greeny-weeinies will take it. this would be good for fleets that aren't used 90+%.. keeping the batteries topped off to lower maintenance needs.... yeah.3 points

I liked the Art & Science styling quite a bit..esp. the sharp edges...in a world of lumpen blobular design, it stood out...the vertical headlights were a strong Cadillac styling cue, modern yet retro--harkening back to the stacked lights on the '65-68 Cadillacs.3 points

There is a slight resemblance, but I bet the panels are all different...3 points

The outgoing grille looks much better, IMO. It just flows so much better. Thanks for pulling both pictures!2 points

Cadillac has been waning off Arts & Science for awhile now. And hence the dismissal of vertical headlights and lack of a coherent C Pillar design across its line-up. And I think I found what is troubling for me with the Escalade and Cadillac's models in general as of late. (The last 2 year models at least) The lack of a DEFINITION of design language going forward. There seems not to have a plan in place for a new styling direction... The plan seems to be just to wane off Arts & Science and that is it... They got the general Escala look and they try to mimic that all across the board while retating some Arts & Science elements, but softening up the Art & Science look at the same time. It kinda works. It kinda doesnt. Yup...like Star Wars with the sequal trilogy. No clear path moving forward. LOL2 points

The problem w/ trying to compare to European makers is that MB and BMW have single brands, so they don't have the kind of multibrand reality GM has with Chevy, GMC, and Cadillac. However, consider VWAG--similar to GM in that they have a multi brand structure. They do have multiple brands, and they do have several large SUVs---consider the Touareg, Cayenne, Q7, Bentayga and Urus---5 different brands, all share the same platform (MLBevo) and have similar dimensions, but are very differentiated in styling. GM doesn't have that much differentiation styling wise between Tahoe,/Suburban Yukon, and Escalade...2 points

It's true, I cannot get away from the fact that even in 2020, I consider GM automotive brands as mainstays or yardsticks, while every other brand is an "alternative" or an "off-brand". I have to suppose there are people oriented differently, it just struck me as a minor revelation. I have to consider there are people who come from multi-generational Ford, Chrysler, Toyota, Volkswagen, etc. families as well here in America.2 points

Oh boy... I dont think its fair to hold the Escalade SWB or ESV to such scrutiny as to say it shares too much profile with its Chevy and GMC counterparts. I dont feel like posting pics but... As you could see...SUVs dont change in profile all that much. That there vehicle is a late '60s 'Burban. That there C Pillar is slanted. Yeah...like how the new gen is gonna be. Other later years its straight. It dont matter...overall this has been the shape of GM's fullsized BOF SUVs. And Ford's too. And strangely enough...Dodge's too... This is what Americans want. We change the formula, and we get the Last Jedi... All kinds of backlash. OK...since the Escalade is just part of a trio...why wouldnt it look the same as the other two? IT SHOULD SHARE THE SAME PROFILE!!! ALSO...the MARKET dictates that it SHOULD share the same profile as its siblings Lets be honest...BMW is fairly new to this big SUV game (X7). The X5 is also new and BMW went with a soft round look. The Navigator, Escalade, Hummer, Bronco, Excursion, Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban...all American SUVs...are boxes...and that is what is required as per what the market suggests. Mercedes Benz SUV icon, the military one...is a box... Therefore...we just bitchin' just for bitchin's sake. Funny..SUVs from FoMoCo are identical to one another...yet no bitchin' And what I was saying in that American SUVs adopt this shape And I thought I wasnt gonna post pics... PS: The Europeans take a different route...but I aint gonna post pics of those on the account that Im gonna sleep now and I dont want any nightmares... (Theyre ugly is what I saying) Or do you folk prefer that the Escalade becomes more rounded and bloated like a Merc GL/BMW X7 or worse...like a Tesla Model X but bigger. Or the unthinkable..like a Cybertruck... the equivalent of Luke milking that walrus space cow drinking that blue/green milk... Palpatine returning doesnt seem all that bad now...does it? PS: Ive enjoyed the sequal trilogy. Episode 8 the most.2 points

I have ALWAYS said that Direct Injection is the biggest step backwards in refinement in piston engines in the last 50 years. It is a sure way to get the diesel clatter even when its not a diesel engine because you are opening and shutting injectors against thousands of psi in fuel pressure not tens. If your 1st priority is refinement you will not use DI -- that is why Lexus uses port injection at idle and at low engine rpms or loads, switching to DI only when load picks up or at high rpms where the noise is insignificant with all the other noisy stuff going on. It is also not a matter if but when carbon clogs your intake port if you have DI. This can be as bad as within 2~3 years on the early VW-Audi FSI nightmares are about 10~15 year on the average late model DI engines. Why? Because you will have a tiny bit of blow by, some small amount of overlap EGR and vapors from your PCV. All of these are sources of carbon compounds in the intake tract. With ZERO fuel and its detergent to clean it off, it will build up over time. The only way to clean it is disassembling the bloody thing and using a walnut blaster or elbow grease to scrub it off. With DI you ALWAYS have two fuel pumps. One in the tank to move fuel to the engine. One on the engine to raise the fuel rail pressure to four digits in psi. This high pressure pump and the high pressure injectors fail in a dozen years when the gentle port injection stuff runs for 30 years. All of that for what? About 0.8:1 more compression and hence 2~3% better energy recovery. That is not even 1 mpg in a 30 mpg car. No, it's not really worth it, but it is the current fad just like bullsh!t Start/Stop systems.2 points

And the Trax is quite nimble, as we found out in snow tonight... If the Nox is a keeper, the tires are the first thing I would be ride...the Premiers on there now are great for dry and rain, but suck in snow....2 points

Dream on. The side profile of the SWB Escalade is nearly identical to the Tahoe and Yukon. The ESV has different C-pillar trim, but is nearly identical to the Suburban and Yukon XL in profile.2 points

Invalid comparison. Each of those are examples of different models within the same brand. GM has multiple brands. A Cadillac shouldn’t look like a Chevy or GMC.2 points

Nissan isn't quite ready to show off the next-generation Frontier, but they have decided to drop the new engine and transmission destined for the new model into the outgoing Frontier. Revealed on the eve of the Chicago Auto Show yesterday, the new 3.8L V6 produces 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque - an increase of 49 hp over the outgoing 4.0L V6, but torque remains the same. This is paired with a nine-speed automatic that is similar to the one used in the recently refreshed Titan. The introduction of this new powertain does mean the base 2.5L four-cylinder and manual transmission have been dropped for 2020. Why is Nissan releasing this new powertrain in a model that is destined to be replaced in a year's time? Most likely Nissan sees it as a way to get some real-world mileage before being dropped into the next-generation Frontier. Nissan is also giving all 2020 Frontiers push-button start, power windows and locks; and tilt-telescoping steering wheel. Source: Nissan Press Release is on Page 2 2020 Nissan Frontier debuts with ‘heart of the next-generation Frontier’ All-new 3.8-liter direct injection V6 engine, 9-speed transmission help set the stage for all-new truck to come next year CHICAGO – As one successful era ends, another is just beginning in the heart of the 2020 Nissan Frontier. At a media reception tonight, Nissan revealed the 2020 Frontier which features an all-new, powerful 3.8-liter direct injection V6 engine and all-new 9-speed automatic transmission – both of which will be key elements in the next-generation, all-new Frontier coming soon. The 2020 Frontier, which marks the last model year of the current generation, will feature best-in-class horsepower1 while also providing improved fuel economy and emissions performance. It will go on sale in spring 2020. Helping celebrate the transition to the next-generation Frontier was Brian Murphy and his 2007 Frontier, which just last week crossed the 1 million mile mark – a true testament to the durability and reliability of the Nissan Frontier. "The 2020 Frontier lays the groundwork for the exciting, next-generation Frontier – an all-new pickup truck slated to arrive soon," said Tiago Castro, director, Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, Nissan North America, Inc. "While looking ahead, we're also celebrating our strong heritage – including the innovations, versatility and reliability of past models, such as the 2007 Frontier that Chicago resident Brian Murphy has driven for more than one million miles." 2020 Nissan Frontier The 2020 Frontier, with its standard 3.8-liter V6 and 9-speed automatic transmission, focuses on the needs and demands of truck owners in the U.S. Nissan's all-new engine is using 93 percent new or redesigned parts, and the powerplant underwent extensive testing in North America. The engine will be assembled at Nissan's advanced engine facility in Decherd, Tenn., next to the full-size TITAN pickup's 5.6-liter Endurance® V8. Along with the 49-horsepower improvement over the previous Frontier V6, fuel economy is expected to increase2. Also contributing to the 2020 Frontier's improved acceleration and fuel economy is the all-new 9-speed automatic transmission designed to maximize powertrain efficiency and provide an enhanced acceleration feel. "From its roots tracing back more than 60 years, to the current model, Frontier has had a lasting impact on the compact and mid-size truck segments in North America. As Nissan transitions to the next chapter, we celebrate both a proud past and a bright future with the heart of the next Frontier," added Castro. The "Million-Mile" 2007 Frontier Chicagoland delivery man Brian Murphy bought his two-wheel-drive, 4-cylinder 5-speed manual Frontier King Cab pickup in June 2007 with one goal: to put 1 million miles on it3. The red Frontier passed the million-mile mark on January 27, 2020. According to Murphy, the original clutch lasted 801,000 miles, the timing chain was replaced as a preventative measure at 700,000 miles, and the radiator and alternator lasted about 450,000 miles each. Even the driver's seat lasted a half-million miles but has also been replaced. To celebrate Murphy's incredible accomplishment and loyalty, Nissan announced it would give Murphy a new Frontier once the 2020 model begins production later this year. "I never imagined I'd be given a new truck, especially since my Frontier is still running strong. It will be a real treat to have an efficient V6 engine, but I guess I'll have to find another way to exercise now that I'll have an automatic transmission and power windows," said Murphy. For regular maintenance, the truck has been serviced at M'Lady Nissan in Crystal Lake, Illinois, the same dealership where Murphy purchased the vehicle new in June 2007. Murphy insists on doing his own oil changes every 10,000 miles. View full article1 point

Yep, the VW Touareg was a Porsche Cayenne through and through, same chassis and AWD, VR6, 8 spd trans. Only difference was the front clip and rear taillights, sides were identical along with doors, mirrors, rear quarters, rear hatch as well. VW actually asked Porsche to build it for them well before they owned Porsche. Just facts I thought I would drop for y'all!1 point

FALSE, this pacifica owner says the v6 is probably the best one I've driven or had. Who are those losers saying its a sewing machine. YES TO THE ADDITION OF ALLWHEEL DRIVE!! LOve these changes! Spouse didn't want another minivan but these are such great family vehicles! Now adding AWD may just mean I don't need to get a crossover! Since i got the tourx i have had remorse about not getting a higher seat vehicle and was thinking maybe i should trade cars with my wife for awhile. Maybe I look at getting the Pacifica for myself...... Pacifca so far has been the best vehicle I think we / I have ever owned in terms of it being enjoyable and functional. The AWD will knock the gas mileage a bit. But it averages 24-25 summer and 22-23 winter as it is so it will probably get 20-22 with AWD. You said the AWD comes with 'models equipped with the v6'....all pacificas are 6 cylinder.... another reason to love it. no buzzy 4. OHHHH MORE OF A REAL CONSOLE TOO! SWEET1 point

It seems like a great idea but it just doesn't seem like it is worth whatever it will cost or the additional cost to insure something like that. It would be nice and all to be able to leave your car parked all day and your range goes up but its suuuuuch a negligible amount I can't imagine it would ever pay for itself.1 point

This is where I get it for EVs, but for ICE it makes no sense to me. They should have kept it L based. I do understand they are wanting people to get used to 400, 500, 600, 800, 1000 badgeing so when an EV comes out, it will not be a big deal.1 point

Found this story that covers the components that are going into the Mach e EV and have to say I am very impressed with the quality of parts Ford is using. It also clearly shows the reduction in complexity of an EV over ICE. Worth clicking the link if your interested. https://electricrevs.com/2019/11/18/mustang-mach-e-powertrain-up-close-and-personal/ This is a great picture. The motor on the left is on the RWD GT versions and you get two of these motors in the GT AWD version. The motor on the right is the RWD and AWD motor for non GT versions. Far more details at the link, but was cool to read on the quality of square heavy duty copper wire used compared to the ultra thin thread style that Nissan uses in the Leaf, etc.. Here is their 10 module battery pack with a single cell that is made for them by LG.1 point

About the independent rear suspension... True that it ousold the Gator. But that was when the Gator was still the same Gator way back when it was rotting on the vine. Also...the GLS has gotten bigger and the X7 has been introduced. If it wasnt broken then, it has potential to be broken now...independent suspension is a must for 2021. Im OK with you not liking these horizontal headlights. Im just not sharing your POV about them.1 point

Since when is an IRS worse than a solid rear axle? If you want space in your SUV, then IRS is the best way to get there.1 point

Because, in my opinion, they fckd up one thing that distinguished an Escalade and something that gave it that powerful look. Everybody knew what Escalade lights looked like. This goes exactly to your point of, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."1 point

What if Cadillac designers wanted to do away with stacked/vertical headlights? Maybe it was for safety that this changed happened like it was mentioned before? It dont matter... Looks are subjective...and it does look like an XT6...and the XT6 is plain and boring looking Ill admit, but no more than what the segment offers...but on the Escalade, it works better, to my eyes at least. But...even that does not matter. The 2021 Escalade looks the part of a top dog, big and brutish luxury SUV. One that continues the Escalade lineage without missing a beat. Playing it safe a tad? Sure! But I didnt know that the Escalade had to change drastically to appease the fanbade... Or are we gonna take a page right out of Star Wars and cry "this is not the Cadillac Escalade that I know. This is NOT my Escalade!"1 point

It is unsurprising that my home state would do something this silly. Florida is notorious for nickel and dime taxes on everything they can . . . . especially since there is no state income tax. You would think that my state would LOVE EVs given how much its citizens love the environment but state legislators always have their hands out for more money, especially from legacy industries that can pay to play.1 point

Ive read all the replies regarding this new Escalade. Ive come to a conclusion. Seems to me this new Escalade is a lot like the Star Wars Rise of Skywalker flick... Where it should have taken a certain other path, it decided to take a safe approach as to not destabilize the target marget too much and the changes that were made were not pleasing to another certain fanbase. Oh well...the movie surpassed the billion dollar mark and this new 'Slade will sell in great numbers regardless because the weak points of the older generations were improved greatly (interior) and it retained the elements that make an Escalade an Escalade. Just like in Rise of Skywalker. Boring and safe storyline...its still an undeniable Star Wars flick...1 point

I realize Cadillac wanted to differentiate the side profile from it's 'lesser brand' siblings, but this C-pillar trim is just weak sauce, something whipped up in 10 minutes with no thought, IMO.1 point

This Escalade really doesnt look all that different from the outgoing one...on the outside The C Pillar on this one is chromed...and it has a slight up rising kink to it as opposed to body colour on the out-going model. The headlights are this new 'Slade are not stacked but horizontal. The interior on the out-going one is good to great. On this new one...it seems to be phoquing fantastic... The overall silhouette and shape stays the same. The grille is the same overall. So...just because it ditches the stacked headlights for horizontal ones and just because it has a slightly kinked and chromed C Pillar that Cadillac blew it? Okay...I guess...1 point
