  1. I agree...like I said...there will always be tell-tale signs if you know where to look. Which leads us to your other part of your post I will ALWAYS discount any RWD American car especially one with a V8 as a sleeper as the muscle car/hot rod mentality to hop up those cars is hard to pass up on... Even a late 1970s-1990s BOF B-Body from any GM brand or fullsized FoMoCo car. The next two cars below Along with GM and MOPAR and Ford crate motors...LS SWAPS etc... paved the way for these so-called sleepers below...which I dont think are sleepers... That Caprice...has a huge exhaust pipe...either factory LT1 from a police pack Caprice or LS swap...but probably a V8 under the hood that means business regardless and that exhaust pipe reveals the situation at hand. When the owner starts up his car...if it rumbles...it probably means its a legit muscle car... So yeah...I agree with your sentiment down below
  2. Except that RAM pick-up trucks sell 400 000 units or so per year for the last 3 years and are on track to hit 500 000 plus this year. If RAM trucks division is sold off alone away from JEEP, A corporate entity other than GM or FoMoCo could use those sales to bolster profits further or its easy entry for the North American market. Think about it, Renault-Nissan could buy RAM and Nissan is instantly a pick-up truck contender... Think about it...if Renault-Nissan was to buy RAM...RAM instantly has a small pick-up truck to sell...the Frontier...to compete with the Canyon/Colorado, Ranger, Tacoma and under a RAM badge...just BECAUSE of a RAM badge...will be competitive sales wise versus the others...and the Frontier aint a bad truck either...RAM engineers could easily improve upon it... That goes for any Chinese company (or European for that matter) wanting to enter the US market...400 000-500 000 instant sales... If any corporate entity buys JEEP and RAM together...the sales from those two brands are endless...for the short term anyway... The corporate entity all it has to do is just pair up JEEP and RAM in one showroom and the sales and profits will just be pouring in....helping that corporate entity's other cars get engineering dollars and presence...kinda like Fiat...if the poker hands are played right...unlike Fiat... Its a little iffy for Dodge and Chrysler as of now... Dodge is known for police cars and muscle cars...both require V8 images (from a consumer stand point) Police departments are moving away from V8s as we speak while the muscle car image as to where its gotta go is still up in the air... Anybody that buys Dodge better get their marketing straight because V8 police cars and V8 muscle cars are slowly dying...and as of now...that is the ONLY two images Dodge has. They were stripped of the trucks... Dodge has to be the one to re-invent the muscle car...and the corporate entity that may want to give Dodge a try better understand what a future mainstream muscle car is and what Americans want from a future mainstream muscle car...that seems like too much work for a corporate entity wanting to get a foot-hold in the USA... Unless someone buys RAM and Dodge and just re-unites RAM with Dodge again. Its not too late for that as consumers still have memories that include Dodge as pick-up truck brand...400 000-500 000 sales per year shouldnt be ignored and could just as easily remedy Dodge as any other brand...
  3. What Im saying is that today, visually, the only clues we got is a tiny badge, tiny letter or two or tiny mascot as in Hellcat. Wide tires and/or very purposeful go fast tires or bad ass exhaust pipes and their location...(that Impala Coupe kinda tips me off) Or this one But know one could be sure...all that could just be fake...as in ricer.... But we can use our ears...if it sounds badass and nasty, it probably is. And it dont have to be a V8...that turbo spooling with the blowing off sound should tip anybody off... And I would just like to stress that with law enforcement so strict on speeders since the muscle car era along the fact that by the late 1960s muscle cars themselves were the ORIGINAL flamboyant Fast and the Furious ricers, sleepers got to be the way to go with many, but there are always tell tale signs...its just that today's clueless Average Joe, the signs could bite him in the ass, he still wont know...and today, these people are abundant more than ever.
  4. Sleepers. Are not uncommon anymore. Take any early 1990s tuner car that any nerdy car kid with a lap top could plug it into his VW Golf or Honda Civic and voila...parameters changed and instant sleeper... Without the Fast and the Furious flamboyance of car graphics, insane paint jobs and even crazier rear spoilers...most of the late 1980s to todays hot version econoboxes are all sleepers...especially if one has taken the time to chip and tune... From the factory One could easily dismiss both cars, in their respective time frames, just as very economical base rides, but both are beasts in the go fast car world. Their base trimmed versions PS: I dont know about the VW Golf R, but I do know about the Honda B Series motor with VTEC...it was a highly tune-able engine that made Civics and Integras even more sleepers than their factory Type R cousins. Then there is the original Taurus SHO and the last gen SHO. While car crazy folk are still very populous, it seems the Average Joe of today is more clueless about cars then ever before so....even a "M" badged BMW or a legit AMG badged Mercedes sedan is a sleeper car in 2017. Or even a Chevy SS when there are no rear spoilers or body kits to alert the Average Joe of something special as opposed to a Lumina Z34 of yore... I doubt a clueless Average Joe would be able to tell a Hellcat from a Pentastar powered Dodge as today's mainstream fast cars do away with boyracer styling...minus the odd 2017 Civic Type R and Juke Nismo. The 3 B-Body cars...and Im using the Buick video as proof....they may look like sleepers, but they probably dont sound like they are sleepers... maybe the Caprice LT-1 is subdued enough to be a sleeper...but I doubt the Impala coupe is silent and the Buick...well we hear its fury when it ran its 9.85 secs @ 133 MPH and 11.89 @ 113.5 MPH runs...
  5. Yes fat. I agree with that description. I always say the TL is bulky. (another way of saying fat, right?) The W-Bodies of any brand and era are more of the better proportioned FWD cars to ever being produced in my opinion. They were always more or less sleeker than the competition making them look smaller than they really are. Yes its true, the Accord too was a sleek little car in the 1980s to the 1990s, but since that year model in your pic...it has lost its sportiness and has become quite fat. I think the 2000s to now Accord is closer to the Chevy Celebrity in size and length rather than a W-Body (minus the Buick Century of the mid 1990s) it has grown in size, but it does not wear its girth too good. There are 2 reasons why I LOVE my Acura: 1. It does NOT look like any other car sold. 2. Its got funky lines that go all triangle like making me think I pilot the Stealth fighter. But I definitely think my car is thick at the waist line and is NOT a looker by any means.
  6. WOW!!! I just never realized that the Accord grew to be that big. (and I own a 2012 Acura TL) (and I also owned a 2005 Impala just before the TL) That era W-Body was not that small to begin with either....
  7. I saw this...I need to find the time to do it! Probably on Friday.
  8. OK...without the buffoonery, I like the G30 5 Series and the M5 is looking like Id be adding this car in future dream car garage threads. Along with the Audi S6 it would make for a nice 1-2 punch. I saw my first CTS-V in the wild 2 days ago...Ill just say that the CTS V would be my uppercut square to the jaw. Waiting for the CT5 V to knock my socks off though. If I was a real buyer in this realm in all honesty, either the new 2018 Audi S6 or the G30 M5 would get my money until the CT5 V arrives... But then again....the Tesla P100D is still an interesting sports sedan... Its a good thing that I dont see fit in dumping 100 thousand on a car because Id have a real first world crisis on my hands...I wouldnt know what car to buy...
  9. LOL Babies and old fogeys BOTH ARE Needy MUTHAf@#kAS!!!
  10. Should there be a response to this vehicle? Before you respond to me with a WTF you talking about Willis attitude... Hear me out on this one... The I.D. Buzz is meant for Hippie revival sentiments Its all cool and all...but if I wanted 1970s emotions revisited (with an electric flair to it)...Id go with something like this... And if an electric muscle car does not fit with the 2022 time-line because vans and SUVs make more sense then at least GM could answer with a more less hippie trendy vehicle.. OK...I mean...there was this side to a VW bus too... LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL IF THIS VANs A-ROCKIN', DONT COME A-KNOCKIN'! But there was this to the Detroit Big 3 vans too So...like I asked before...should there really be a response to this vehicle or maybe something more of a 1970s GM vibe instead? If we were to do an EV van, I personally would prefer this stereotype instead! (yes...yes...this happens to be more of an 1980s vibe to it...it must be the 1980s electro music that was the 1980s that makes me feel this way)
  11. My first reaction after seeing his name After reading....realizing his view was of us Not giving two shytes and continuing to lose my mind...in Detroit Rock City!!!
  12. 1. 1973 Pontiac Trans Am 455SD (1978 pictured below because quite frankly, Id take any 2nd gen Trans Am) 2. 1970 Olds 442 W-30 or 1969 Hurst/Olds 455 cubic inches 3. 2017-2018 Dodge Challenger 392 Scat Pack 6. 2018 Lexus LC 500 5.0 V8 4. 2009 CLS 63 AMG 6.2 liter V8 7. E39 BMW M5 4.9liter V8 8. I just just learned about this car searching for a Chevy SS to post. 2009 HSV W427. Oh Yessssssss baby! 427. As in the 7.0 liter LS7. Only 90 were built, and I want me it badly. 9. 2017 Mustang GT350 5.2 liter V8 5. I need/want a Cadillac to round off the first 5. A new Cadillac. One with a Corvette engine Problem is new Cadillacs with the Vette V8s have this thing called a supercharger. The only one that does not have is an Escalade....so we do an Escalade ESV. 10. Ill continue rolling the dice and continue with a truck. One with a Viper engine.
  13. I did not quite comprehend what Balthy meant by that and I certainly did not understand what Mr. Moltar found so funny...until I saw who Balthy was quoting. And even then...I did not fully get it...but then it hit me instantly! Delayed reaction.
  14. knowing what we know about there not being too many actual car enthusiasts that actually love driving anymore, does it really matter if its just a beautiful car and not much else? I personally LOVE to troll BMW in that regard about BMW getting away from, for the most part, its Ultimate Driving Machine persona...but globally speaking, I don't think anybody cares about that slogan anymore. I wouldn't fault them if the next gen Z4 is just but a beautiful face and sexy body.
  15. I was at a family gathering awhile back and there were a whole bunch of beer snobs in attendance... Only the high falutin' imported beers like Stella Artois and the BOTTLED micro brewery stuff seemed be to worthy for these folk and yup...you guessed it...the favorite phrase of the day was "tastes like piss". Actually..."warm piss" was the correct descriptive. Your post of the Bud Light reference reminded me of that get together. It was the young dudes that thought they were cool that were the most vocal. Ill understand when seasoned veterans define beer as such as they have had the experience to know what is good and what is blah... These young dudes were just...blowhards. I was at that age too once upon a time ago...and you know what? Like pizza and sex...at that age...even bad BEER IS DAMNED GOOD! Its BEER! At that young age....THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO DO WITH IT!!! ANY BEER!!! I was laughing inside at them as to say that they thought they had something on me for HATING Stella Artois and LOVING Budweiser or Amstel or Lowenbrau but I know...they are missing something great if they have not had the fun that I had with beer if they were too snobby...and cheap to chug the expensive imported stuff... And yes....Ive had this type of fun with beer...and no...no drunkiness...just horniness enhanced with beer...Budweiser and Molson beer...
  16. Dongfeng also denied a purchase of FCA http://www.motortrend.com/news/dongfeng-doesnt-want-buy-fiat-chrysler-either/ Im thinking Sergio bullshytted...again...to bring attention to himself...again... These are desperate desperate times for Sergio... Time is running out on Sergio...
  17. Not as sleek as the current and future BMW roadsters, Id rather the Z8 by a landslide. And one could easily tell the Z8 is a product from another era from the somewhat tallish rake of the windshield as compared to its younger brothers or the lack of the modern headlamp kits of today with the lack of LED strips and such...
  18. outgoing Z4 next gen Z4 I definitely see the evolutionary design. And its quite stunning the next gen I must say...but I must say this also that I also see a tad of Pontiac Solstice in there too. The next gen Z4 could also double as a possible next gen Solstice GΧP. I swear Ive said this before now that Pontiac is gone...that BMW's styling emulates Pontiac in spirit...the irony being that during Pontiac's last years...Pontiac wanted to emulate BMW...
  19. Question. When someone compares a crappy beer to piss, does that mean that that person knows what piss tastes like?
  20. My substitutes (and I made a mistake...the list did indeed include a 1969 GTO and a 1963 Sting Ray) At the very least!
  21. I didnt realize it was a British publication. Ill even go as far and understand if fins of the 50s dont peak the interest of British tabloids... Still no excuse...
  22. The Aston Martin Rapide shouldnt even be on that list. It is one of those unmitigated stinkers you are talking about. The Audi A5...while a nice car, certainly shouldn't be part of an all time beautiful list...especially when I 1968-1972 GM A-Body muscle car coupes lust worthy...and none of those made the cut...The A5 IS nice....but its also BLAND! The Maserati Ghibli aint a looker by my standards. I could see why it may make the list though so I aint gonna argue that but, I certainly think a 1963 and a 1969 Corvette both are nicer and sexier designs and NO Corvette is on that list either! So GM (and Chrysler to a degree) who is the inventor of the car as fashion marketing selling point and the creator of some of the most incredible show cars for over 100 years that some of those styling cues made it to production cars with such mythical designers such as Earl and Mitchel but only 1 or 2 GM cars and 1 or 2 Chryslers made the list...(European cars dead sexy...but a 1968 Alpha Romeo 1750 GTV, TVR 350, ANY SUV on that list...But really? SUVs?, Ford Capri...and others...are phoquing HOMELY...not beautiful!) (Oh...and I like that Alpha Romeo 1750 GTV...I just dont think its downright beautiful...it has a certain charisma...however a 1967 Pontiac GTO though...is phoquing GORGEOUS!!!) Talk about a click bait article if you ask me.
