  1. Ethanol also has less energy per gallon. I have not tried it in the Impala even though I could since it doesnt seem worth it.
  2. It has actually been a very nice week overall. It was I think 64 for a high which in Northeast Wisconsin is a achievement. Warm tommorrow yet than going back to about 40 on Saturday. I actually dont care since my place of work has been very hot because they dont have the A/C going and the building is a heattrap.
  3. I cant complain about my bosses. They are super to us for the most part.
  4. I thought Wisconsin was bad as far as having crabby people(some of my family included).
  5. A high powered Camaro or Mustang or anything like that is useless in snow. Actually any lightweight RWD vehicle is going to be useless in snow. For my driving give me a FWD W-body any day for winter driving. Cant complain about my Impala and this one doesnt have ABS or Traction control. It works very well in the snow we get here. My 2 old ones for RWD arent too bad being that there is actually weight on the back wheels and I have normal tires on them. The Bonneville is the better of the 2 though. The Caprice has an aggressive gas pedal and that can lead to trouble in snow with that car.Lets not forget one of the other worst vehicles there is out there for snow is a 2WD truck.
  6. The change to the front end for 2006-2007 fixed the front end. Helped it some though I never found the car objectionable. In fact I had a 2000 for 4 years and loved it. I was unsure of the looks when it came out but a test drive made me like it enough to buy it. I wish one would have been available when I got the Impala. But it wasnt so the Impala was the next best choice.
  7. My 3 car is laid out that 2 of the 3 stalls are 24' deep and the other 1 is 22' deep. Most newer ones here in Wisconsin are that way. As for light I have 3 CFLs 200 watt equivilants(Thats how many sockets the builder put in) and 3 4' shoplights 2 over the workbenches and 1 between the single and double stalls. It has a garage furnace but I dont cool it in the summer. If Dad was living it would be cooled but I dont care as much about that.
  8. I as a Caprice liker liked the Caprice one. Nevermind they totally redid it the very next year. Admitedly it looked out of place to the other Chevrolets out at the time.
  9. The doors on my 2008 Impala arent tinny. I dont really hear the tires that much, less actually than the old cars. If I had one complaint, the back seat could be a little longer. Otherwise it is a very good car for me. I'll take proven design and engineering right now over new design that may have mistakes. Mine gets about 21-22 or so in town and 29-31 highway for fuel economy.
  10. Same color interior as the 1979 Impala I had other than the difference between a Caprice and Impala. With decent tires this should get you around just fine. Never had much of a problem with the 1981 Caprice or 1979 Impala or the one time I drove the 1981 Bonneville in a snow event. Tires make the difference with these. Which engine is in here? Most were 305s. My 1979 was. Good luck with it.
  11. We just hired a few people where I work. I make circuit boards at a manufacuting facility. Though this is our busy time anyway. The real test will be what happens after the 1st of the year.
  12. Vinyl is the most common here but quite a lot of the 1960's and 1970's houses or houses that were resided then have aluminum. The vinly on both our houses never looked like what was in the picture. And ours were done correctly so it didnt warp. Only bad thing was the light blue on the garage at the old place faded pretty bad. But the grey that was on the old house and the light brown on the new held up a lot better. Wood just rots in due time or turns grey. Plus then you have to paint it. People here look for maintenence free.
  13. After driving RWD Impalas and Caprices in my older days and now having 2 FWD vehicles and one AWD vehicle, I would NEVER go back to RWD for winter. My 2008 Impala is more secure in snow than those old RWDs ever could hope to be. And they were good for RWD.
  14. Is it me or does Ford have a high incidence of things that can cause them to catch fire?
  15. Yes the dropping headliner. The Bonneville has a little of that. The Caprice has it in the C-pillers but the ceiling itself is fine.
  16. I think here it is illegal to do that. Typical Wisconsin. They get funny about tinted windows too.
  17. My sister had a 1979 Dodge Aspen with the slant six that had Lean-Burn. It ran pretty poorly and it didnt have the power to get out of its own way. Had a friend with a 1975 Duster with the slant six but without all the Lean-Burn stuff and that one ran WAY differently. That one could actually move quite well. My Bonneville runs so-so even with a rebuilt carb since it has all the emmissions stuff. The 1985 Caprice is better but it still stumbles a bit as it is warming. Properly running fuel injection is quite possibly the best thing to ever be put on vehicles within the past 20 years. Especially here in Wisconsin where it gets pretty cold.
  18. I am with you on this one. I prefer cloth no matter how expensive the car. I am glad all 3 of mine have cloth.
  19. When I aqquired the Bonneville in 1998 it had an Interstate from 1987. I have Interstate in both the old cars and thats what Dad always used with good luck.
  20. I worked a 10 hour day testing circuit boards.
  21. Dont cut the 307 so fast. Yes they arent performance engines but I have had 2 of them and neither one burned a drop of oil. And the one had 260,000 miles on it. The Bonneville leaks SLIGHTLY around the left valve cover. The Park Avenue didnt leak a drop.
  22. Dear lord. I cant believe there is one of these in that bad of shape.
  23. I installed 7 in 3 computers that had Vista and the difference in noticable. The laptop especially benefited from it as fars as speed goes. It no longer crashes when I play music off my computer in the bedroom. Mine still locks up once in the while and you cant use a screensaver on mine or it will lock up in minutes. I think thats something to do with the video setup though. I may just get a video card and bypass the video setup it has. Moms bedroom one works better with 7 too. It stats up faster. I also like the way thingas are layed out better. I have wondered about putting it on my basement one. That has XP home but originally came with Millenium Edition. I dont know that it would run 7. It isnt too bad but I lost the XP disk when we moved. So do I get another XP disk, put Millenium back in?( I dont want to do that). Or try 7?
