  1. Just think about the difference between the 1976 Impala and a '77. I also like how people call my 1981 and 1985 heavy monsters. What said people dont realize is that quite a few cars made today weigh as much as the 2 cars mentioned here. The GTO is one of them. The new Camaro is another. I am sure the list goes longer.
  2. I take the Impala to the dealer fopr nearly everything what little it needs. Oil changes too that way if something does come up they cant ever say I didnt keep the oil changed. They also do some of the work on the 2 old ones but I have a mechanic that does most of the work on these including A/C work. I do simple things but I dont have the time or know-how to dig too deep. Need to find somebody to do the headliner in the Bonneville. I think there is somebody in Appleton that has been doing this for years.
  3. I try never to keep anything of value where people can walk by and see it. Though that isnt really a problem here. I have lucked out so far.
  4. I'd leave it a V6 just to keep it origional. Why chop a perfectly good car.
  5. Its too good to be in a derby. You all must have the worn 307s because mine doesnt use a drop of oil and the very little it leaks isnt even worth changing the valve cover gaskets. The 1984 Buick Park Avenue I had for a little while also had a 307 with 260,000 miles and that one didnt leak or use a drop of oil. Its the transmissions that were the weak links with these. The body is pretty good on this. There are far worse cars here that are running around. They dont do inspections where we are so it doesnt matter what you really do. I dont know if either of my cars would pass an inspection or not.
  6. Play it safe. I have 3 cars in my posession and drean about a few more but I just cant. And mine dont really need much work at all. Like I said, play it safe.
  7. Most foreign makes. I never thought the 1979-93 Mustang was really "all that" while my friends pushed them on me all the time. The 1980's Escort was the same way.
  8. I had to recover mine yesterday. I am not really sure whether to blame Vista or other factors. I know it seems a lot better without Opera. Too bad, I really liked Opera but I am seeing that they have really improved Internet Explorer. I am considering installing Windows 7 on it but so far it seems alright. If I did get Windows 7 I would get the family pack and doo all 3 computers with Vista. The laptop seems to struggle a bit with Vista at times. I dont require a lot out of my setups. I still have the one we bought in April of 2001 that had ME but I converted to XP a year or so later when ME was being a pain. I dont know where the XP disk went though for it and it could use a clean install again. It still works fairly well, just a bit slowly.
  9. I might be putting Windows 7 in mine after the problems I have had with Vista. Mainly that it locks up and will do NOTHING. The right side of the screen will have these thin red bars that flash and the coloring on the right side gets weird. I was told it may be video drivers so I downloaded some new ones with no change. It sometimes does this 3 times a day or it can sometimes go for 2 weeks without doing it. Sometimes it will even do the stop error thing but it is never the same error everytime it does it. I might try recovering it 1st though just to see.
  10. A Co-Worker had one of these. It was kind of a piece of junk. He eventually got rid of it. He said it wasnt very stable on snow either.
  11. The older KitchenAides were VERY good dishwashers. My Grandma had on in her house that they bought when they bought the house in 1984 and as of 2005 when she sold the house it was still going. It was very quiet for such an old dishwasher and I dont think it ever broke. The 1989 Maytag we had wasnt as good.
  12. The Impala should need nothing except to re-apply the sealant the car came with. Same with Moms Aveo. 1985 Caprice. Wash it, do an oil change, and replace the slowly failing alternator. 1981 Bonneville. Wash it, do an oil change, and I think this one needs front brakes.
  13. I'm a late night person. I normally work 2nd shift but sometimes do 3rd if needed. Going from 2nd to 3rd isnt a big deal. Going from 3rd to 2nd is a little harder. I usually dont sleep too bad though I do usually get up about halfway through to use the bathroom. I hate having to get up too early in the morning though.
  14. We have the what irks you in a Co-Worker, now lwets try another exercise and see what irks all of us with our bosses or as I sometimes call them "authority figures". My main one is a boss who throws a temper tantrum like a 2 year old when things dont go their way. I have a few of them. They have gotten better with me since they know I dont do things to cause such behavior. If you cant handle the pressure of the job then maybe you shouldnt do it. Simple as that. A boss that cant seem to make a simple decision is another thing that annoys me. Everyone has had one of these. So lets have it.
  15. Which Co-worker? The ones who speak their own language so you cant understand what they are saying? Or the guy who feels the need to start rumors and in general annoy people not to mention just sitting in his chair and falling asleep while the boards are coming out of the wave. The same guy asks the dumbest questions at meetings and annoys the managers and owners. Or the supervisors who cant keep calm and just deal with the situation instead of throwing a fit like a 2 year old when things don't go right. Always love it when my wave operators take off so I have to be there instead of them. Thats ok, remember kids I have way more vacation time than you. You arent going to win that one no matter how hard you try.
  16. Got my company to let us wear headphones after never letting us do it. It worked out well and there are no problems with it. How is the job going so far DodgeFan?
  17. We all have to die sometime. if the salt and sugar doesnt get you the pesticides will. And if by some miricle you make it trough that the E-coli will finish you off. Back to the subject, Do you all really want to know the answer to this?
  18. This is the Tim Taylor kind of meat. Arggghhhhhh!!!!!! Arrgggghhhhhh!!!!!!!! I have done some pretty over the top stuff as far as eating things that arent good for me but this is over anything I have ever done.
  19. It isnt any easier to find things for the B-body. I can tell you that. Most engine parts arent too hard to get but body or interior parts are a WHOLE nother thing.
  20. Isnt that the truth. I havent really ridden in any bad modern cars. I was not a fan of the 1995-2005 Cavalier.
  21. If the Jeep Compass is the worst vehicle people have see or been in then they must not have ever been in some of the older junk thats around. The 1980s Ford Escort is but just one example. Come to think of it I never rode in a decent K-car either. The Chevrolet Corsica or the 1986 Toyota Camry all come to mind as rolling pieces of crap I have been forced to drive at one time or another.
  22. I cant really say too much bad about the Impala. It doesnt jiggle you doen the road or rattle and squeak when you open the door. If a door squeaks when you open it and close it you lubricate it and that makes it stop. My console is nice and tight. Some might find the ride a little soft but I like it that way.
  23. If Schwans truck are in your area it might be worth trying them. Their stuff is a lot of times a cut above the others. I think they would have fish sticks. You might try them. Most of what is in the store these days is garbage. The pizza rolls in the store are crap compared to what you get from the Schwans person.
