  1. Speaking of T37s, weren't some of them pretty basic 2dr sedans with dog dish hubcaps and 6 cylinders? Chevy didn't even offer a Chevelle 2dr sedan those years..seems strange Pontiac would have models as or more plain and basic than Chevy, which I think was the authors' point. Same argument could be made about Buick and Olds, since they may have had very basic midsize models also those years (Skylark and F85 two door sedans w/ 6 cylinders). Even 35+ years ago, GM's 4 mainstream divisions competed with each other with similar models.
  2. Heh-heh...I didn't have a hangover, but felt jet lagged. 4 hrs flying across 3 time zones yesterday, up at 5:30 this morning. Once in while that's ok, but I couldn't do it every week.
  3. steak (btw, the barn in the pic is a circa 1880 Amish horse barn, now with Mustangs inside)
  4. Anyone remember the Briggs and Stratton Hybrid? I remember reading about this concept car as a kid in Car and Driver (or maybe it was Road & Track). The car had six wheels and was designed by Brooks Stevens. First time I'd heard of the concept of a hybrid.. Briggs and Stratton Hybrid
  5. Mogwai-Mr Beast
  6. control
  7. Saw this on a late model Silverado this morning on I10 in Phoenix: RED NEX
  8. I noticed that in PA and OH...driving Rt 22 West from the Pittsburgh area, there was practically no traffic at 7:30 on Friday evening. While not an Interstate, it's a 4 lane divided highway that crosses through WV and into eastern Ohio...saw a little more traffic yesterday afternoon, but still light.
  9. Sounds like a nice weekend.. I managed to put 275 miles on my rental Town Car, not bad considering I was only driving 150 round trip from the airport to the farm...it was funny--the car had Wisconsin plates, picked it up in PA and drove to OH through the WV panhandle, with an AZ license. put about 100 on my Mustang, which only has 64,500 (which is low for a one owner '87).
  10. Had a good time back in Ohio...flew into Pittsburgh Friday (4hr flight from Phoenix), picked up my silver Town Car rental from Hertz, drove out to the family farm, drove my '87 Mustang GT on Sat and Sun...went fishing Saturday. Wanted to get the '69 Mustang out and drive it, but it was blocked in the barn by my brothers' '82 Mustang GT which has a bad starter currently. Watched the 500 Sunday. Got to drive some of my favorite twisty, roller coaster roads in E. Ohio. It's so beautiful and green back there, esp. around the lakes and rivers. Quite different from the beige desert of AZ. Drove over to Steubenville yesterday, cruised around my old neighborhood..looks much the same as it did 30 years ago, IIRC, though they have built a new school where my old elementary school was, and their is a Bob Evans where the Pontiac dealer was. Then back to PITT for the flight back to Phoenix (had some pierogies and beer at the airport while waiting on my flight).
  11. Speaking of random, over the weekend, I was looking at a 1966 Guam yearbook, put out by the island chamber of commerce...had some neat photos of 50s-60s Galaxies, Impalas, etc on the island, and ads for the local Ford dealer.
  12. Had a good holiday weekend in Ohio... 8 hrs of flying to get there and back, and a lot of driving around over the hilly backroads of E. Ohio and some 4 lane roads in W. Pa/E. Oh. Saw some nice oldies, incl. a red '65 GTO convertible (top down), a gold '67 Camaro coupe, a sharp lt blue early '70s Camaro (base model, I think). Had a great time driving my '87 Mustang GT and my rental car. May have found the next Moltarmobile also. Will post pics later.
  13. Impressive.
  14. It was gold w/ a tan interior, like 250k miles...he lives in Colorado Springs Co, doesn't have the car any more, though...his son totalled it last month.
  15. They just look evil, with those canted lights and eyebrows.. a flat black one w/ tinted windows, black steel wheels...be like Christines' evil partner in crime, like the 'Werecar' on a Futurama episode.
  16. Lookin good..need some chrome rims w/ spinners on there, though..
  17. I love the styling of that Monaco..neat rear window treatment...was that exclusive to Dodge? I think I've only seen one or two of those in the last 25+ years.
  18. The Malibu competes with the Fusion. The Buick needs to be up a notch, competing with the Milan.
  19. It could take the G6/ Saturn Aura positions, above the Malibu, below the LaCrosse.
  20. By building it in China, maybe they can close a factory here?
  21. Yeah, I'm also wondering about Ford's future plans..it looks like the Mustang will be their only RWD model in a year or so, if Panther is phased out in '10 as I've read....I'm assuming that the CV, GM and TC won't be replaced, and that the Taurus and MKS will fill the big car roles, unless Ford commits to a new RWD platform...
  22. Yeah, they've definitely had a down turn, but nothing on the scale of Michigan. Lots of companies folded, lots of layoffs, but new companies are continually starting up and hiring continues.. Yes, I've read a couple good articles about the brain drain issue. Nothing to keep graduates in the state, or to draw people in. When I left grad school, I left Michigan..didn't see any future there...was looking to move to San Jose or San Francisco, but ended up in Colorado instead.. I'm impressed with Pittsburgh, what I've seen in recent years seems very different than what I remember from the late '70s as a kid in the area... I've toyed w/ the idea of moving there, what with it being only 75 miles from my Mom...my Mom is nearing 80 and stubbornly won't leave rural Ohio, my sister and I concerned about her..thinking maybe we should be closer than 2000 miles away.
  23. With the red interior, several colors for the exterior could work..white, black, silver, red, dark gray or maroon..(the last 2 would be my choices).
