yes, but empires typically crumble under their own weight. we didn't need to dismantle it after they lost. turkey is supposed to be secular ran, and now they're in the news about a possible muslim government overtaking. ok, but unless they attack us over there, there is no reason to retaliate. UK, the middle class is being thinned because of taxes and living expenses ,while we pay their gov't for keeping the land (AKA free money for some land). ok, maybe not in france, but i'd not be surprised if we did. we have base( s ) in isreal, the middle east and we subsidize their gov't... instead of needing economic reform to make up for the money we give them. if you suddenly were making 10% less at your job , you'd have to prolly do something different, right?

don't forget about all the pollution that comes from washed away fertilizer (which corn needs lots of). we've had a dead zone in the gulf of mexico, south of Louisiana for quite a while. increased need for fertilizer, more oil need, making both prices higher too. again, ethanol from corn, makes no sense. especially the subsidies we pay...increasing to $3 billion a year by 2012.

this wouldn't be a problem if the EPA was shut down and people/businesses could be taken to court for REAL pollution.....not just handing them fees to pay.

agree. on point 1, that's the same idea that we can drill our way to independence.....without nationalizing the industry. supposedly lots of the alaska oil gets shipped to japan, because it's more economical instead of transporting it down here. we don't want china to bail us out, we have to do that ourselves, other wise we'll be indebted to them forever.

I got a 2 point plan.... for the government 1. open up trade...get out of WTO nafta cafta, make it totally open. tariff minimally. 2. get out of health care. this will drive prices down and limit how much gm / ford/ chrysler has to deal with it until they renegotiate. tada!
