    McCain's trend

I believe the word you're looking for is "Truthiness," not "Truth."
  2. When you say government, do you mean things that the national government is responsible for, or government across all levels? The level of government responsible for a specific task is a pretty important factor in making sure things are run as well as possible.

  4. Well you know what they say, you can put lipstick on a pig, but . . . .
  5. People always get caught up on material possession when trying to give gifts. I know when I receive gifts, I'd much rather someone spring for a fun experience I can cherish more than $h! that I can accumulate. So in the spirit of non-materialism, I have to suggest that you get your friends some hookers. And coke. Nothing like snorting coke off a hooker's ass to really show your friends how much you care.

  7. I know everyone wants to hate on them, but the panicky masses make it way too easy for the oil companies to pull this kind of crap.

  9. Whoa, Satty's gone post-modern.

    McCain's trend

And the question wasn't a trap. The term "Bush Doctrine" may sound fairly vague to the average hockey mom, but it is a clearly defined view with specific points that anyone running for that kind of office should know in their sleep. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bush_Doctrine
  11. This at least provides a very good counter-argument for people who think popular music keeps getting worse. As it turns out, popular music has always sucked, with a few notable exceptions.
  12. Kanye West is a horrible rapper. Pretty good musician and songwriter, but a horrible rapper. He always sounds like a karaoke singer's bad attempt at rapping to a Kanye West song. . . . Just felt I had to throw it out there, because the world needs to know.

    McCain's trend

McCain seems to have accepted the use of attack politics, as long as he's not the one who personally has to get his hands dirty.
  14. Please tell me you're joking.
  15. I've had ...And Justice For All playing a lot in my car lately. But right now, I'm listening to Marvin Gaye's version of the Star Spangled Banner. Sexiest. Anthem. Ever.
  16. Well, for starters, she's certainly made it obvious over the last few weeks that she has no idea what a community organizer is. Policy-wise, she's pretty much the exact opposite of what I think our country needs right now.
  17. So. . . anybody care to guess the average lifespan of a migrant farmworker in the US?
  18. Agreed. In order of which I would rather have: Big dog--My parents have a black lab who is a ton of fun. His idea of play is chasing our horses. Cat--Cats do their thing, I do mine, sometimes we trade affectionate gestures to each other, it's all good. But I can't get past the feeling that all cats are sociopaths at heart who would gladly eat me if possible. Small dog--what carbiz said. You can also tell a lot about people by the way their pets act. In my experience, asshole people end up with asshole pets.
  19. "Every other group" usually took a couple generations for everyone to start speaking English and assimilate. This happens every time a new wave of immigrants comes to America, yet every time, people act like the new wave is a threat that America has never seen before.

  21. I really thought this thread was going to be about this George Carlin bit:
  22. Such a great actor. It's a shame my generation only knows him as a crazy gun nut.
  23. I, for one, love that we have "God" on our currency. It's such a delicious irony.
  24. Haha, that's great. One of my favorite humorous license plates isn't even custom. Last year, North Carolina had to recall over 10,000 license plates for starting them with "WTF."

    My Humps

Don't know about "best song ever," but Meddle is definitely my favorite Floyd album.
