As well as the Corolla, RAV4 and 4Runner. I am surprised the 4Runner was up that much, there must have been a good deal on them. The Camry went on sale in late April, apparently, so a 3.3% monthly increase is pretty good considering it has not been on sale a full month yet. The year-to-date drop is probably due to the new model coming on line. I believe Prius production has dropped from its highs in order to reign in supply. Perhaps the negative hybrid press as had an effect? Lexus needs the new ES and LS fast, as well as a new sporty car to replace the SC. The drop in GS sales is weird.

I like the new Lincoln Zephyr commercials, very classy and attention grabbing. Imagine if Ford actually improved the Focus in a meaningful way and added a sub-Focus model. Ford has the opposite problem that GM has in terms of car vs. truck sales. LR is still on a roll...

How come truck sales are only up 2% when so many of those vehicles posted huge gains? It would be interesting to see truck sales for the first two weeks of April vs. the last two weeks when gas prices skyrocketed.

Again, the market pushes up the price of oil because it is a commodity and people can invest in it (just like haypops did, helped raise the price $0.0001). Of course not every cent is going to go to R&D (that's why the ex-CEO of EM received a $400 million retirement package).

Of course they are going to be posting record profits when oil is the most expensive it has ever been. The costs to retrieve and refine oil are nearly fixed, I think, because if oil prices went down to $50 a barrel, companies would still be making money though not nearly as much. However, the market pushes oil prices up to $75 a barrel and oil companies make a lot more. Edit: What if we got rid of or limited the use of private planes, NASCAR and boats? Gas consumption and oil prices would go down quite a bit.

Using the same platform for different vehicles is not lazy. I hate the Challenger so I agree with you there but the same could be said for GM. 'Nox/Torrent, Cobalt/G4/5/10 whatever, minivans, etc.

How is it "flat-out racism?" I could care less where the illegals are from, what their race is, what language they speak, etc. If they are here illegally, I do not want them here, they should not be here. The government needs to crack down on them and the companies that hire them. Make it just as expensive as having educated and legal workers. To come here and take part in rallies waving the flags of their home countries, demanding rights that they do not have and refusing to assimilate is like spitting in the eyes of legal immigrants and our ancestors. Now they are just stealing my money, too, and do not tell me otherwise. Fortunately, they are digging their own graves by holding these boycotts and rallies. Whenever I donate money the card that you fill your information out on says the donation is not tax deductable. It does not mention anything about a reimbursement.
