  1. Yeah, the Wave was sort of the conceptual replacement for the Firefly that Canada had long ago (the Pontiac equivalent of the Geo Metro turd). By the way, did Pontiac Canada have equivalents of the Geo Prizm or Chevy Specrtum?
  2. By definition, it will suck... the Daewoo will be cheaper, cheaper built, with nasty materials, I expect.
  3. I can tell fall is here---the convertibles have their tops down, incl. a bright red '80s Avanti. Saw 5 convertibles with the tops down tonight coming home from work, the arrival of cooler weather (highs around 100 or less) is bringing them out. Another sign of fall is the return of the Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks...enjoyed one this morning from the Starbucks in City Hall..
  4. The dealers probably demanded it... BPG dealers didn't have anything this small or cheap to compete w/ the Chevy dealers. I wonder if Saturn will get one also.
  5. Sad.. what about a GXP version?
  6. Cool..I thought you had your GXP in Europe?
  7. I'm surprised that hasn't happened yet... I keep expecting a coup attempt by the evangelicals to create a theocracy..The United States of Jesus..
  8. Find a long extension cord... I once had an apartment in a building w/ underground parking, and I don't recall seeing many power outlets around.
  9. He might...or starting a new war before Election Day would be one way to seal it for McCain, since he wants to continue the all war, all the time approach of the Bush regime and it's supporters.
  10. It would have been slick if the plug were in the front and hidden behind the bowtie (have it hinged to expose the plug).
  11. Maybe a promotion with Wal-Mart. Low prices everyday! Smiley faces everywhere!
  12. I haven't had a car with a NAV unit yet. I can read maps (and print out directions from google maps before going somewhere unfamiliar). Though most likely, my next car will have a NAV unit.
  13. That's what I wondered about, looking at the pics...when I've driven a car for a while, I can operate all the switches/buttons/etc by feel and placement without looking at them...and they are all different in shape and function, for the most part..rotary dials for HVAC, etc..
  14. Impressive numbers...did those '64 and '65 #s include the Biscayne and Bel Air or were they split out? Amazing that a single line of cars in one market could hit such numbers in one year..
  15. True enough...The mods should probably should delete or lock the thread..it's gone on and on, round and round. We are polarized, nothing going to change people's minds.
  16. I know more than enough about McCain, after all, I live in his state.
  17. +1. Excellent article.
  18. I can't see much demand at the price..esp. with the Prius, an established model with a great reputation, for about 25k.. That's a LOT to ask for a FWD Chevy compact..
  19. So true... same with Chevy to a lesser degree. Actually, Avis,Alamo and Enterprise has been my only opportunity to drive new GMs for over a decade...
  20. Saw a black VW Tiguan today..first one I've seen...not bad. Saw a white '60 Ranchero and a yellow w/ black vinyl top '65 Mustang..both very clean. In the parking garage I've parking in for work this week, I've seen some interesting cars...a derelict '71-72 El Camino w/ no hood, big block V8, the whole thing (incl. grille and bumpers) painted a nasty medium blue (looks like latex house paint or something), bed full of junk. A maroon '96 Caprice SS in very clean shape... a black Jag XF. A very clean gold '76-79 Seville--no vinyl top.
  21. That's too bad...I thought the reason for one the right side was so you could plug it in if you didn't have an outlet close to the left side..
  22. If she has more boys, will she name them Truck and Trog?
  23. Yes...all is sh*t... Everything is f*cked. Some days I feel that way. But this week is better than the last 6...started a new gig Monday, new surroundings--job is downtown instead of in generica (suburbia). Work is off to a slow start, but the $$$ are great. And the highs this week have been under 100 (fall is coming).
  24. Just showing my RWD bias, I guess...I couldn't care less for FWD..
  25. Great tribute, my condolences. Sadly, both pair of my grandparents passed 30 years ago or more, so I only knew one grandmother until I was 8 and my other grandparents until I was 6 and 7 (one grandfather died before I was born). They were tough, hardy, hardworking people from Appalachia (eastern Kentucky mountains). My father passed from cancer in '99 at age 78, my mom is still going, seemingly healthy as a horse, at 77 now..
