1. I hear you..it's kind of absurd...but that's the way it is... targeted advertising. I've seen Spanish language TV commercials here on local, English language stations! Spanish speakers are the fastest growing group in the US..
2. Well, the military is desperate for new recruits...they have to get what they can get.
3. Heh-heh..it's like that all over here in Arizona... all the signs in Target, Wal-Mart, etc are bilingual. I've seen a few billboards in Spanish only.
4. I'd like an interior color choice other than gray. I like the interior design, esp. the asymmetry and the way the center stack and IP are tied together, not unlike past BMWs. It's nice to see a dash done that way when most today go for the symmetrical approach. I like the lines and proportions of the exterior...I esp. like how Audi is moving away from traditional FWD proportions and going for more RWD-like proportioning.
5. I love driving..and part of it is that I love maps... I've always liked studying maps of areas..and wanderlust..I love traveling, always want to see what's over the horizon, around the corner, over the next hill. I've managed to visit 38 states over the years, 2 provinces, and 8 countries...lots ahead to see over the coming years. I think traveling cross country several times w/ my folks in the family motor homes got me hooked as a kid on travel. When I was back in Ohio during the summers in high school, I got a platte book of all the townships and counties in the state, and started studying the state routes, county roads, township roads in my home county. I learned the roads of Tuscarawas County inside and out.
6. I like C-Span... I watch them frequently and the BBC America evening news. I also listen to NPR.
7. Yes... I'm renting my sister's house in Phoenix currently (she's working in Ohio). Nice lush green lawn, lots of flowering plants, palm trees, no cactus, huge pool (with diving board, 20+ ft long). Standing out in the yard, you would never know you are in a desert..the neighborhood looks like LA.. Arizona is a strange place... I'm not sure how much longer I'll be here..starting a contract next week for 6 months...come 2009, I may move back to Denver or maybe to a blue state. Agreed...Cindy comes off as kind of creepy...
8. Yes, that's a hot button issue... I know a lot of people in Colorado that aren't happy about Arizona's allocation of water (I have a friend in Denver who always gives me a hard time about 'stealing his water'). I'm still amazed at the growth of the Phoenix metro and Las Vegas... without a/c, irrigation, and Colorado River water, there's no way you could have such large populations in such a harsh climate.
9. Well put..I concur. McCain's approach has definitely changed since 2000.. I've read that and heard that also from Arizonans.
10. Cool. I love science & technology. Too bad we can't create black holes here and make Texas disappear.
11. Perhaps because there is less historical image with Saturn than Pontiac... easier to mold a new image.
12. I love dogs... esp. terriers, little, pointy, tough dogs that think they are 100 lbs when they are 10 lbs. I do like cats also, esp. Siamese and Bengals. My sister used to have Siamese and I really liked them, great personalities and not as aloof as other breeds, I think. I've taken care of friends' Bengals before, great personalities also.
13. electric toilet (Incinotoilet)
14. I've learned over the years it's pointless to try and argue with conservatives..they believe their delusions so deeply, it's impossible for them have a rational discussion. It's impossible. All that religion and the smell of gun powder has warped their minds, I'm afraid..
15. No..the old white corrupt rich men that run corporations.... feed them, and supposedly the sparrows (the general public) might get a bit of nourishment off the turds..
16. As opposed to the Cut-Tax & Spend Conservative bull$h!? No one can spend as out of control as Republicans, as evidenced by the Bush/Cheney years... I am so sick of the hypocritical conservative nonsense in this country. They talk like their $h! doesn't smell because they think they have God on their side. F*ck 'em.
17. Yeah..that's what I was thinking of.
18. Well, there is this place called <reality>...... GM has to build cars for that. Some of us do live in the 21st century and understand <reality>.
19. A vote for McCain is a vote for the past. For the same old conservative bull$h!.
20. It would be cool to take a vintage radio like that and replace the innards with modern equipment so it has AM/FM, iPod jack, etc...
21. There is a huge middle in the US that neither party in the US really represents, I think...
22. I saw video of her this morning where she was encouraging her church to pray of a gas pipeline that she said God wanted Alaska to have. The Republican Party's embrace of the religious right is one of the many reasons why I could never, ever vote Republican.. too many irrational people. People like myself (atheist, pro-technology, pro-science), rational, modernist, have no place in that party. (And I'm not anti-religious..I know there are fanatical nut job groups within any religion. I have many rational friends that are religious--Jewish, Buddhist, Mormon, Catholic, etc).
23. Yes, that's the one in the Jalopnik article. Since the SMART has removable body panels, maybe an entrepeneur can tool up a HUMMER nose for the SMART, and badge it as the HUMMER 0.5
24. No doubt..quite flexible.
