FROM: http://www.canadiandriver.com/2009/02/05/p...-13-22-2009.htm Preview: 2009 Canadian International Auto Show, Feb 13-22, 2009 By Greg Wilson Toronto, Ontario - The automotive world has been turned on its ear over the past year, and this year’s Toronto auto show reflects some of that new reality, according to the show’s organizers. The 2009 Canadian International Auto Show (CIAS) will offer a “stunning glimpse of where the industry is headed,” according to the CIAS web site. “Current economic realities and changing consumer lifestyle choices have dictated a new mandate to world automakers: create solutions that meet an entirely new set of criteria: new engine…

This year's edition of the New York Custom Car Show has been canceled. This 3 day annual event has been a Thanksgiving feature on Long Island for over 40 years. Sadly, a victim of the poor economy. The organizers have decided to not hold the show this year in anticipation of a bigger and better re-birth in 2010. We wish them all the best.

Is anyone going to San Diego? I'm totally excited.......while it certainly won't have the impact of L.A. or Detroit, it is the first auto show of the season for me (I was out of town on business during the O.C. auto show.) I'm sure the GMT-900s will be there......as well as Lucerne, DTS, etc. The show runs from Wednesday, 12-28-05 until Sunday, 1-1-06.

Since the '07 releases have been already announced, it sounds like from the rumour mill that there are only going to be 3 new GM models for '08 from what I've seen so far--Malibu, CTS, and Enclave.. (maybe 4 if the Opel Astra coming for Saturn to replace the Ion is in MY '08, though it's not a new car--new to the US, but the current European model, I believe)? Besides refreshes/upgrades of existing models, anything else on the horizon for the '08 MY? (Maybe the Camaro? It will be interesting to see if it will be a MY '08 release...)

Subaru to show three-door, hybrid hatchback concept at upcoming Tokyo show AUTOWEEK Posted Date: 9/28/05 At the 39th Tokyo Motor Show, Subaru will show a concept car called B5-TPH, a three-door hatchback equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter flat four and parallel hybrid systems. Incorporating Subaru’s Symmetrical All Wheel Drive (AWD), the concept car provides an efficiency and comfort glimpse of a future sport specialty car that further enriches the efficiency and comfort. After last year's Lucerne debacle, does anyone thing there will be live webcams at any of the auto shows? I'd laugh my ass off if they make the same mistake twice. Webcams+running videos of new releases=stupid, doing it twice=really stupid.

Well, just a reminder to C&G, 2007 ends in 2 weeks, and then the 2008 Detroit Auto show is shortly after that. Looks like it is time for a new "2008 Auto Show Coverage" section. Happy Almost New Year!

One of the Mercedes CLS sedans up on a display turntable had a burned-out taillamp. I mentioned it very conspicuously to my father, who laughed out loud, which prompted one of the Mercedes reps to climb up and turn the lights off! Also, walking through the VW section, I heard three seperate conversations about mediocre VW customer service and quality. Nice. A few others... *Quite an interest in the Lucerne from more than your typical Buick clientele. *Nice comments regarding the Solstice, Torrent, Terraza, LaCrosse, HHr, Impala, and DTS. *A $35k-ish Charger R/T and $30k Mercury Montego both have hood props?! C'mon... *Civic coupe is just...…

U.S. automakers show new cars in China Christine Tierney / The Detroit News Beijing -- General Motors Co. and its Chinese venture partners are displaying 37 production and concept vehicles at the Auto China 2010 show here, including a Chevrolet Volt MPV5 electric crossover making its global debut. GM is introducing a Chevrolet-badged hatchback called the New Sail, too. Its Aveo RS show car, hinting at the next-generation Aveo subcompact, is being shown in China for the first time. GM is showing three Buick models built on the automaker's global platforms: an Excelle XT hatchback, and the Regal and LaCrosse sedans. It will highlight the 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter turbocha…

From Autoweek: New Volkswagen honcho Wolfgang Bernhard is big on dreams: working on them, driving them, making them come true, and VW is clearly dreaming big with its newest drop-top, which went from concept (in the form of the Concept C) to production reality in just 18 months. The four-place cabrio/coupe features a nifty, retractable five-section hardtop roof, five engine choices ranging from 115 to 250 hp and transmission options including the DSG direct-shift gearbox. The Eos will launch next spring in Europe and should hit the States sometime later in '06.

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=107193 Rumor has it that the C30's inspiration will come from this safety concept: Volvo's Smallest C30 Hatch to Debut at Detroit Show Date Posted 09-09-2005 DETROIT — Volvo will pull the wraps off its newest — and smallest — vehicle, the C30, in January at the North American International Auto Show here. The C30 will go on sale next fall in the United States as a 2007 model. Volvo first announced its intention earlier this year to launch the C30 at the Detroit show but provided few details. Sources say the car will be built on Ford's C1 global small-car platform, which underpins the Volvo S40 sedan and…

I thought it'd be good to start a list of everything we might see this upcoming auto show season. This list isn't complete by any means, and I didn't list what show that each vehicle will debut at since most aren't known for sure. The one's with question marks are just guesses and are by no means for sure going to debut. Everyone can add to the list since I probably will forget a lot of things, so just post what I forgot then I'll edit this post. I decided to do it by corporation: GM Buick Enclave LaCrosse Super (?) Cadillac Escalade/ESV/EXT Chevy Suburban Silverado (?) Camaro (concept) Avalanche Aveo (?) (North American d…

So, we'll start this 4 months early... What are you hoping for/expecting to come around this next autoshow season? I'm hoping for the following... GM: Camaro production (or convertible), Impala concept, GTO concept (I want to see at least two Zetas + Camaro) Ford: Mercury Cougar on Mustang platform DC: 2008 Viper Mazda: RX8/RX7 successor Toyota: RWD Sportscar (Supra?) Mitsubishi: EVO X Nissan: 350Z redesign and/or Skyline production That's pretty much all I'm asking for, and I have a feeling most of these will happen. *Note: I didn't include trucks, SUVs, etc. simply because I could care less. The above are what I personally hope for.

Yes, I am well aware that this is labeled the 2006 Auto Show BUUUUUT the Woodward Dream Cruise is just around the corner. Actually, it's going on now, I should be at Duggan's having a few but I'm not, I'm here and that's that. So, who from C&G (GM employees, visitors, etc) will be heading down? I will be Friday & Saturday night draped in C&G merchandise. I shouldnt be too hard to find. I should add I've already met Monte today from the old boards today across the street from the Tech Center at National Coney Island. One cool dude there!
