Detroit 2019: Cadillac's First Fully Electric Vehicle: Comments

Recommended Posts

During the reveal of the 2020 Cadillac XT6, Cadillac also took the wraps off a yet to be named Cadillac EV.  This will be the first car on the new BEV3 platform that was announced just a few days ago at the GM Investors meeting.

The new BEV3 platform is capable of FWD, RWD, or AWD variants and can be spun into many different body styles as customer tastes change.  Technical details will be released at a later date

Shown, like an actual vehicle?

Or a rendering of one?

Because the picture above looks like a computer generated and pixelated  photograph.

In just curious, because pictures have a nasty habit of changing how the actual physical concept will look like and from there, actual physical concepts have the unfortunate luck in looking waaaay different than their real life selves that will go on sale a year later...

In that picture, the EV in question does look nice.  For a CUV that is...

Im excited to read about (and obviously actually see)  how that platform will be flexible and what vehicles it will accommodate.

I also am very excited to see what tech this will be packing.  Battery size and range. Performance specs as compared to Tesla and Porsche and Mercedes etc...

What electronic gizmos and internet connectivity and internet upgrades GM will be doing (if any)  to compete with Tesla, etc. (Not that I personally value those things, Im just curious on how the other players such as GM and Porsche etc, other than Tesla will go about their EV business...)

Let the EV games begin.

Looks truly futuristic IMO. Like Blade Runner futuristic. Very cool. Hope that it just flops out the Cadillac womb like it looks right now.

Better than some other SUV's that look like they flopped out of another bodily orifice.

I hope they take this chance to go with NAMES on the new EV products. This would be a good time for Cadillac to embrace their Heritage and bring names to the EVs and leave Johann mess of Cadillac to die off on the ICE world.

  • The Jeep Gladitator gets a gentle refresh for 2024

Jeep is understandably reluctant to mess with success, and the Jeep Gladiator has been one of the brand's greatest success stories in the last decade.  So when it came time to give the Gladiator a nip-tuck, Jeep went in with the gentlest of hands. The biggest visual update is a refresh of Jeep's iconic 7-slot grille, windshield-integrated trail-ready stealth antenna, and seven all-new wheel designs. Inside is a redefined interior with more technology and amenities, including available 12-wa

GMC Upsizes the Acadia for 2024; New 2.5L Turbo-4

GMC caused a stir in 2016 when it downsized the Acadia in 2017 from its previous near-Yukon length. That downsize brought the Acadia down to be inline in size with the contemporary Jeep Grand Cherokee.  In the years since, the Grand Cherokee has grown and GMC is matching that with the 2024 GMC Acadia. Inches matter in this class and in that the Acadia gains (back) 10.6 inches in length and 3.2 inches in height. That equates to 80% more space behind the third row and 36% more space behind th

Cadillac Refreshes the CT5 with an Updated Look for 2025

Today at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Cadillac unveiled the refreshed Cadillac CT5 sedan.  CT5 retail sales have been on an upswing of late, increasing over 35%.  In a time when sedan sales are stagnating or disappearing entirely, Cadillac's positive numbers have given hope that the luxury sedan market isn't quite dead yet. The refresh of the CT5 begins with the exterior. A new larger, bolder grille is flanked by new vertically stacked headlamps and Cadillac's sign
