FWD question, Is FWD really that much better in the snow?

NO! & I'm dead serious about that.

76ChevyTrucker: Eddie, current daily driver is a 01 Impala, but RWD vehicles in the family include: '97 TJ Wrangler, '75, '76, & '83 Chevy pickups, '92 (possibly soon replaced with newer) Chevy pickup, '89 S10 Blazer (last year of the two-door S10 Blazers), '31 Ford Model A, '66 International Loadstar 1600, 1997 Massey Ferguson 231 tractor, 2003 crew cab ZR5 S10 4WD. Wife currently drives a Cobalt (lease-car), but aspires for a Dodge Magnum with the Hemi (hopefully all the Zeta-based GM's will be out when the lease is up so I can change her mind), and my next ride as soon as the Impala is payed off will be a Chevrolet or GMC 2500 or 3500 extended cab 2WD, long bed, with either the 6.0 or the Duramax..... Gee, I hope I qualify!

Good point, it's available so I can... but if I was going

to spend the money for my own domain it would be

something even cooler than that and easier to

remember.

I have a few ideas kicking around for my own website.

DETROITSTEAL.com (since I dabble in "budget" American cars)

I Know RWD is better in so many ways than FWD. But i do disagree with this statement for teh Average Soul less driver. A Pontiac Vibe is alot easier to drive through a foot of snow than a 4th gen Camaro. or a 83 scottesdale with a 572 in it even with 10 50 pound bags of dirt in the back. My 02 silverado F'ing sucked in snow in 2wd just did donuts and spun tires until you put it in 4wd.

4WD is superior to RWD yes.... that's very true, but 4WD is

also just as superior to FWD.

There is ONE and only ONE thing that is better about FWD

in the snow versus RWD: getting going from a stop in low

traction, and in this case it just lulls you into a false sense

of security. What people would benefit from more than a

POS FWD car is "doing the right thing", buying a decent

RWD car and putting on snow tires when the time comes,

& opting for traction control if they're shy about snow.

There's no excuse for FWD. :P

If you're too much of a sissy to drive RWD get an AWD

car or 4x4 truck.

Yeah, you're right, the two-door Blazer continued all the way up till Blazer production stopped in 2005, but if I remember right 1989 was the last year you could get THAT body style in a two door format.

Nope. My Grandpa has a 1991 Box-Blazer with only two doors. :D

Guess who's back.. your number one member! We have enough members yet?

I think so. I haven't had the chance to add them to the starting post, though.

Chris Costanza, but you can call me C. And I am from The Bronx

I own a 1979 Oldsmobile Delta 88 with a Rocket 350

I've owned in the past a 1978 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight, and a 1985 Chrysler 5th Ave

Toyota should burn in the fires of hell

On a side note, my current daily driver is a FWD 1995 Buick Riviera....but the Olds is soon to become the 442 that never was....

so gentlemen, can I join you?

You should do RWD plus manual transmission. That's a real drivers automobile. And I fit the build for that - 2004 Dodge Dakota w/ 5 speed manual.

It's pretty bad when your options are RWD, manual transmission, decent engine, and low cost and all you are left with is trucks.

If fit the description 2003 S-10, 5 speed. Too bad it's only got the 4.3 and not something bigger stuffed up under the hood. Hmm loan is paid off soon. I'll have spare cash afterwards.. :scratchchin:
