  1. Very odd it lacking ABS. Even my wife’s ‘03 GA had that. No love loss on though IMO. Her ABS would get a little flaky at times so maybe that’s a good thing here. Personally I always like this gen. of the Bonneville. Came real close to buying an ‘05 years ago but the guy sold it before I could get it. They have been harder to find because their sales tailed off hard during their last years. Oh well.
  2. Those have always been pretty solid cars Reg. My wife had an ‘03 Grand Am and as much flak as those cars caught, it never broke down and she always liked it. After 11 years of it, she finally sold it and got an ‘08 HHR. That only lasted for a little over three years before she bought her current ride (too many electrical gremlins with it even though it ran like a tank). Congrats. Free is always good. It will make a good first car for your daughter. Tell her to keep track of those oil changes though lol! OH NO! Did I say something positive about a GM car with a fair analysis? Oh my word! What is this world coming to? (Sarcasm for the sarcasm challenged)
  3. Other reviews. https://www.caranddriver.com/hyundai/palisade https://www.motortrend.com/cars/hyundai/palisade/2020/2020-hyundai-palisade-pros-and-cons-review/ Other reviews from actual owners https://www.edmunds.com/hyundai/palisade/2020/consumer-reviews/
  4. Review after review, from people who have actually driven and spent time in them, has been overwhelmingly positive. Kudos to Hyundai and Kia for not making them look like rebadge jobs like Ford and GM did so many times back in the day.
  5. Drew sat in and drove one yet doesn’t share the same gripes as certain folks here. Three other reviews by major publications echo the same sentiments as Drew. Interesting. Confirmation is bias is, indeed, a real thing.
  6. Balth made the best point about it a while back. All the current regulations have led to very much homogenous designs so there are bound to be similarities across the board from one model to the next. I’m less concerned with who is riffing who and more concerned with whether it’s a good a reliable product that will meet my needs.
  7. Agree about Genesis (Save for the ugo looks of that G90 front end). There should have already been a CUV from them but if they can up the game and truly separate it from the Palisade, they will have a winner. Going with a different platform will certainly help their cause on that. Otherwise it would just look like a cheap rebadge.
  8. If they would do something about that hideous grill, they would be in better shape in the looks department but that grill simply looks about two sizes too big for it. The interior does look pretty nice though.
  9. That’s what I’ve been gathering via several mainstream publication reviews. I was surprised they didn’t point out anything being “cheap”. They did however comment that the interiors were toe to toe with Buick and Acura and even said that the interior was nicer than some luxury vehicles. I know that the Koreans have caught a lot of flak (and deservedly so at times) over the years but this is a different time and those who cling to their past bias as ammunition for today are not paying close enough attention to what is actually being offered. Ten years ago, I wouldn’t touch anything out that country but they have stepped up their game and when they have models being compared to brands like Cadillac, then clearly they are doing something right whether some folks want to admit it or not.
  10. @Drew Dowdell-What are your thoughts on the fit and finish of the Palisade? Does it feel cheap or otherwise have a “plasticky” feeling about it?
  11. Anywho (because this nonsense has gone on long enough and one brand brick walls never learn), the Pallisade shows that Hyundai has no problem blurring the lines between mainstream and premium (borderline luxury) CUVs. Ten yearS ago, no one would have given them time of day much less have them being compared to much pricier brands like Cadillac. It has taken a page out of the Corvette playbook and shown that it will gladly play out of its weight class (or price class in this case) and do it fairly well even if one brand fanboys refuse to see it. As long as It’s reliability is at or above par (Hyundai and Kia have been above par overall the last few years), it will be a solid seller for Hyundai. Read into that what you will. Call me a “Korean fanboy”, like an idiot, if you will. It doesn’t change any of the facts here.
  12. With a starting price that is $20K higher than the Hyundai, it better be $20K better than it but the fact that the Hyundai can even be mentioned along side the Cadillac seems to contradict that assessment. No amount of “dealership experience” makes for that either especially if one has actually had a Cadillac dealership experience worth that kind of coin. It reminds me of the comparison made between the Vette and cars like the 911. Sure, the Vette competes with it (and then some) but is a Chevrolet dealership experience anywhere close to a Porsche dealership experience? Is the build even comparable?
  13. @Drew Dowdell--And thanks for clearing up the light piping issue. My apologies for misreading intent. Having said that, your description of it comes off as a more honest and objective evaluation as opposed to the "Koreans are nothing but foreign junk that copies everyone" diatribes that polluted this thread. I personally don't think its that big of a riff but I can see some similarities. That does not change my stance on the fact that Hyundai and Kia are not unique in the borrowing of styling cues department. Thank you again for clarifying.
  14. That very last sentence there is key. Were too derivative of other makes for years? Yes. Are they much less of that now? Also yes. Regarding the display, yes it is similar to Benz but if they would have done like everyone and slapped on a gigantic iPad in the center, they would been copying dozens. You can’t win either way. These days they are no more guilty of copying someone than any other make.
  15. It’s shameful that a Hyundai catches the eye more than a Cadillac but GM made their choice with the XT6 and have to live that stigma. It’s more than nice enough on the inside but about as exciting on the outside as 1970s Volvo. Hoping the next Escalade doesn’t share that same bring look.
  16. But that LED piping! They are just ripping Cadillac off! Only GM is allowed to that! Don’t you see man?
  17. That it is and that is exactly the point Captain America fails to see when he tags on foreign companies. “Oh my god! This Korean owned SUV is made in...GASP...Korea! And that German car over there Is made in Germany! Wtf is this nonsense? Oh and look, there’s a domestic car that’s made in...Mexico! Oh the horror! Its a world market and that means choices from all over the globe. If domestic fans want people to buy only domestics, then go ahead and say that capitalism is BS too because that kind of thinking is why so many industries have failed over the decades. Two things. I said on THIS thread and just because Drew says it doesn’t mean it’s 100% factual. He is merely giving his opinion and it sounds like that remark was meant as more tongue in cheek but hey, if you need him to help validate your endless copying claims while ignoring the fact that everyone is doing it these days, then bless your fragile little ego. (Goes back and looks at the XT6 and sees Audi cues on that front end but doesn’t post endless and pointless diatribes about how Cadillac is ripping off the Germans).
  18. Aaaaaaand.....triggered. Thanks for playing and displaying your continued inability to understand context. (Looks for Drew’s mention of the led piping and finds nothing in this article yet finds a fair amount of praise for it). And the whole “made in the USA” schtick is fake outrage when one realizes that they are posting said outrage on a device NOT made in the USA. And do you think the folks who work at the many foreign car plants in this country give two $h!s about where the money ends up? No. They are getting paid and putting THEIR money back into the economy. Now apply your “Made in the USA” motto to everything you own and then realize how asinine it sounds when you realize how hypocritical you are.
  19. Good thing American companies like GM build all their cars and make all their components right here is the good old USA. Oh wait. And “light pipes”? Seriously? What should make you mad is that this looks better, on the inside and outside, than the Cadillac it competes with, the XT6. The most hilarious part here is that you didn’t mention the one MUCH MORE OBVIOUS thing that Hyundai copied here. The profile is almost 100% Tahoe (it can join the Expedition in that department). Oh no! Guess that makes me a Hyundai fanboy now! Oh, the horror!
  20. See above pic of the smoke filled Cheech and Chong car. Either one would be applicable here lol.
  21. Elon Musk coming up with the idea for a pick up.
  22. Exactly. The current one looks like an April Fools Joke release. It is an affront to the eyes. Like I said in the Random Thoughts thread (before I saw this thread even existed apparently lol), Elon needs to seriously back off the devils lettuce. He somehow managed to make the Aztek seem like the hot girl in the room.
  23. So I saw the release of the new Tesla Pickup and I’m wishing I hadn’t. Quite simply the most hideous looking thing I have ever seen with four wheels on it. Don’t even want to post a pic of it, it is that bad. Elon needs to back off the devils lettuce.
  24. So you are basically confirming that it is nothing more than a gussied up Mercedes much in the same vein as an Escalade being a gussied up Chevy. Thanks for clearing that up.
  25. Show us on the doll where Elon touched you.
