GM to cut prices to lure customers
Hmm...hasn't GM been down this road several times before?

Cyclone, Breeze, Scirocco?
Strange morning... a strange billboard for a local Honda store--a big picture of a pair of shapely, bare woman's legs with the tagline-- 'On the internet, it's clothing-optional'. Guess it means you can shop online for your new Honda in the nude. Dumb. Heard a radio ad for 'Big 2 Toyota/Scion' touting their new showroom w/ cobblestone paths, hand-laid brick walls, barber shop, shoe shine, coffee shop, kid's play area with pirate ship, waiting area with ESPN on big screen TVs, etc. Never once did they mention the product. Guess the Genericans in Chandler, AZ love this stuff.. And the funniest was this old guy driving along with all the usual Republican signs--giant cross hanging from the rear view mirror, American flag decals, flag on the antenna, 'Proud to be an American' bumper sticker, W04 and Bush stickers, Jesus stickers, McCain 'Country First' decal... ... all on a freakin' Hyundai Santa Fe. WTF????

BACON EXPLOSION
I bet bacon-wrapped rice cakes would be great. I made a quick bacon sandwich this morning---4 strips, some cheese, in an English muffin. Tasty. Made one the other day with pita bread. Haven't made one yet w/ naan, but have naan and bacon in the fridge....hmmm...could make a tasty dinnerish snack before 'Top Gear' and '24' are on.

Where do they get off?
Buick dropped the heated washer fluid? Bummer..that's a feature I'd like to see widespread...would be really nice when commuting in those subfreezing winter days..

Cyclone, Breeze, Scirocco?
Saw a beige '80s Jeep Comanche pickup on the freeway this afternoon in good shape, haven't seen one of those in ages, and a silver Hyundai Genesis, only the 2nd one I've seen..

304 HP V6 Camaro: 29 MPG
Yeah... that's impressive mileage, for both the 6 and 8, considering the size of the car. I'd love to buy a new car, financially, I can do it. I just started a new 1 yr contract last week, same rate as my previous 6 month, and the tech job market is much stronger than others these days, but I'd rather accumulate cash and it's nice not having a car payment (my Jeep is approaching 100k miles but is in great shape), and I'd hate to buy something new and have it sit outside (3 cars now w/ only a 2 car garage here in Phoenix). I'm waiting until 2010 until I seriously consider a new car.

Firefox?
40-60 windows? (tabs?)... that's a lot...I rarely have more than 10 tabs open, with 2/4GB RAM on my machines... I've found that Chrome handles the same number of tabs more efficiently, with a considerably smaller memory usage footprint..

Firefox?
I've almost completely switched over to Chrome over the last few months, really preferring it.

Polo, anyone?
Sounds like the Polo that is coming for the US is not this one...they are going to make a larger one to fit lardy Americans, and of course, a sedan: US Polo coming in 2 years

A Rare Pontiac Indeed
This thread reminded me of the Air Force chase Mustangs they used with the U-2...there was an article in one of the mags about this restored '88.. Chase Mustang An abcnews.com article said they first used Chevy El Caminos....and now "..Most of the cars are either Pontiac GTOs or Chevrolet Cameros [sic]— the Air Force buys American. " Surprising, no Priuses?

Nitrogen in Shell Gas????
Supposedly, it acts as a detergent to clean the innards of your engine. Still sounds gimmicky. I bought Shell Saturday, didn't notice any nitrogen signs. A google turned up many articles, here's the first from the Car Tech blog.. Nitrogen gas info

Anyone know how to fold down the backseat in a Dodge Nitro?
Yeah, I found a manual online..seems very similar to the way the seat works on my Jeep GC (cloth straps at the back edge of the seat base in the corners)..

Trying to help someone 2000 miles away with a rental Nitro and no owners manual...

A Rare Pontiac Indeed
IIRC, one of the major car mags had an article on the chase plane Pontiacs sometime in the last decade or so. Pretty cool.

Congrats...I'll be 39 in June..

I have a million things that need to be done today
That Prius pic reminded me of one I saw a couple years ago---below the Hybrid Synergy Drive badge, someone had added additional badges--SRT, Type-R, and GT. Interesting.

Where's a Duramax when you need it?
Yeah, but it looked like a bunch of kids..probably not much 4 wheeling experience. I've done a fair bit of Rocky Mountain trail 4 wheeling in my Jeep w/ buddies in their Jeeps and 4 Runners, and winches, ropes, shovels are definitely necessities, and extra gas and good jacks. Nothing like being on a trail 75 miles from the nearest town and running out of gas or unable to fix a flat. Speaking of Power Wagons, at the gas station this morning, I saw a couple of women in a 1951 Dodge Power Wagon...what a beast. Camo tan, looked straight out of the Korean War.

Where's a Duramax when you need it?
Hilarious the things kiddies will do...the last couple of minutes there, they really needed shovels to dig away some of the hillside that the front of the Jeep was digging into. I half expected Bubba to back the Super Duty up to far and roll it into into the bog. Interesting semi truck style stack exhaust in the bed of the Super Duty.

The truth about the G8
Speaking of 5 series, as I was leaving the office, I noticed a current style 5 series in the parking lot--had 5 spoke chrome wheels that looked a bit like the G8 GT's wheels or the Charger SRT8's wheels..
-
The truth about the G8
I think it's great news, all things considered.
-
The truth about the G8
Maybe, maybe not..since the Charger shares a platform w/ 3 other models (now 2) I would think it would be profitable 4 years in..
