  1. Given Mary Barra's record in the last two years, South Korea should hope that she does not shutter GM Korea entirely. It is cheaper to build GM Korean cars in China and ship them over rather than build them locally.
  2. No worries: the Escalade still dominates the segment. The X7 is climbing uphill against the leader in luxury large SUVs.
  3. ^^^^^^ Sad but true. The market for big RWD cars has essentially disappeared.
  4. What's wrong with Cadillac and GMC? FCA on the other hand is so beat up, especially when Jeep is the only brand keeping FCA (from a sales standpoint) afloat.
  5. I am not surprised about Nissan getting fleet sales. Toyota? That is weird. Ten years ago GM had that "move the metal" mentality prior to BK and it nearly killed the company (among other causes). Now Toyota is doing what GM did back in the 2000s?! WTF?
  6. Sounds like you want to return the Z to its 1970s/80s roots as a Corvette alternative for half price.
  7. Key West? The nearest Cadillac dealer is in Miami close to Homestead, quite a distance from Key West. I doubt any dealer has been in the Keys in a long time.
  8. I am not aware of too many Cadillac dealerships that are aligned with something else. My local Cadillac dealer has been mostly standalone since they opened shop in 1973. There might be a few, but I suspect not too many Cadillacs are sold in those (small) dealerships. As for Lincoln, those were paired with Mercury until Ford shut down Mercury in 2009. Lincoln itself (and Genesis) need to have their own space as separate dealerships.
  9. OK fine. When will these luxury EVs be available for anyone to test or buy? At least with the Teslas and Chevy Volt/Bolt, one can buy any of them right now.
  10. Ugly as those are, somebody will still buy one of those. The Aztek was hardly attractive, but those sold quite well in its time.
  11. Why would anyone BUY an Opel? Maybe most people would buy a Chevy instead. . . .
  12. So MB and BMW are the only real choices then? Not everyone is a Euro badge snob.
  13. It seems to me that the large FWD sedans are getting killed by CUV sales, and midsize FWD sedans are also taking a hit thanks mostly to smaller CUVs. The only thing that will truly resurrect sedan sales is $4-$5 gasoline again. Just remember 2008-09 gas prices, which led to the near-death of the truck-based SUV.
  14. Who will buy a Fusion in the era of the crossover? Come to think of it, who will buy a Malibu in the era of the crossover? America has already rendered its market decision: build more crossovers!
  15. I wonder if Cadillac will address the issues listed here with the 2018 model, if not with the successor of the ATS.
  16. Sounds like the SRX would not have Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. So I guess either one is an XT5 exclusive.
  17. What exactly are the differences between a 2017-18 XT5 and a 2014-16 SRX? Given current prices on the latest model SRXes, I am not sure is I would like to purchase the lastest and supposedly greatest XT5. Any advice is welcome.
  18. Yes the UK PAYS more than anyone else, especially here in the USA.
  19. The VW CEO was referring to diesel subsidies in Europe not the USA. I do thank you for pointing out that the federal government does NOT favor diesel over gasoline.
  20. I would like to see the current driver-involved model to stay. Yet I am concerned that sooner or later that will be replaced with car-sharing and the like. For some reason or another, insurance companies will want to end the driver-involved model once and for all, just to save several million dollars. SAD!!
  21. I have a better idea: tax diesel fuel the same as gasoline. Poof: no more subsidies. It is rare that governments SHOULD have energy subsidies of one form or another. Those subsidies distort markets and consumer choice. It is best to get rid themselves of them.
