  1. So the oher day my girlfriend was at a drive-thru in the Intrepid waiting on food when the car stalled (oil light came on but that was the only light). Later that day I waspicking my brother up from work, and was at a stoplight when it stalled on me. Just a slight shutter and then dead. Started right back up, although as I entered the highway on-ramp it reved higher than it should have, but it was fine after that. The problem is that it's been fine since then. Took it to the mechanic on Monday and they were unable to get it to stall. He suggested either the fuel pump or the timing chains. Today still no luck, and my girlfriend needed it so she picked it up and it was problem free. So..based on queries on Dodgetalk, my own guess, and the mechanic, here's the possible issues listed: Timing Chains Fuel Pump Crankshaft Sensor Dirty idle air motor Throttle Body Fuel Filter I could be wrong, since diagnosing a problem isn't my forte, but I would think the throttle body would be ruled out, since it idles perfectly all of the time and the revs are always properly modulated, with the exception of those stalls. It's not like the Shadow, which I know needs a throttle body, as it idles somewhat high, never maintains a steady idle (fluctuates a 100 or so rpm), and usually wants to stall when it's cold or sometimes going in reverse. Fuel Pump...I don't know the symptoms of a dying one, but I would think once it goes it goes and won't work anymore...not most of the time and sometimes stop working. I have no idea though. The sensor, motor, and filter I'm not sure where to check/how to check as the repair manual I have doesn't say for any of them. As for the timing chains...I know they need to be replaced, as it's about that time (almost 200,000 miles), and I planned on doing it soon anyway (which I think/hope would get rid of that sound I mentioned several months ago). My question is...can they make a car sall by them and the guides/tensioners being worn? Really the only thing keeping me from having it done now is the question of the fuel pump and if it's linked to the stalling or not. I have the money to replace the chains or the fuel pump but not both. I just hope it's not the fuel pump. Any advice/thoughts/other possible causes would be great. If possible I'd like to get this remedied before this weekend. Thanks guys!
  2. I dunno if I'd pick a GA over the Millenia...why not just fix it, get a paint job for it and presto? You'd still spend less I bet than on a "new" car.
  3. There are some threads best left dead.
  4. Mights be a wire...maybe the wiring that connects the battery to the alternator?
  5. Why, oh why must we bring this thread back from the grave?!
  6. Funny thing about my C&G screen name was that when I first joined I didn't really realize this was a dedicated GM fansite with the occasional "other guys" members. I saw "Cadillacfan" and thought "Dodgefan sounds good" I rarely use AIM, in fact i forget what my s/n is I don't use yahoo My email addy for MSN is Liger_Ultimate_X in dedication to what used to be my favorite show/anime, Zoids, and my favorite Zoid, Liger Zero...which is an Ultimate X. Most if not all of you probably have no idea what any of it is but that's OK. I used to be a huge fan of the series, my screen names and usernames had some variation of Liger Zero. my yahoo email is Liger_Zero_CAS for example. I used to even run the 5th most popular Zoids site on the web. It still exists although I haven't updated it in years. Zoids Unofficial. But I digress. My other screen names / usernames are Kimura, which was the very first original anime-style character I drew up about 6 years ago in high school. As I've gotten better at drawing he's evolved as well, and basically become my online persona of sorts.
  7. I really do like this car, it sounds like a real performer in both handling and power yet gets good fuel economy. While the exterior and interior aren't exactly fresh or (in the interior's case) very good, I'd much rather the money they sent go to performance than to making the interior baby-butt soft. Plus the (what looks like) black on white interior is pretty slick looking. I'm also glad that they finally put nice wheels on the Cobalt, the other wheel designs are nasty.
  8. Certainly derivative but at the same time quite handsome.
  9. I hate how every auto rag seems to think it's cool to assume this is a redneck car. BUt they're probably more interested in humping the Hyundai. The comments on that site are just stupid.
  10. Because it's very functional. Kind of like how the Aztek appealed to people because of it's functionality...except the exterior of the Journey is at least pleasing to the eye.
  11. The sports appearance package makes all the difference. Looks really sharp! Take some photos of it and the Sebring together dude. Does it drive any different than the Sebring?
  12. I love black, the metallic is OK but I agree straight black is the best black. LH models "black" was more of a dark gray, which always disappointed me.
  13. Speaking of which, there's a silver Fiero GT that just went up for sale.
  14. :useless:
  15. Not yet, it's been raining like crazy until this morning, knocked out the internet (OH NOES!11). Windy now, cold tomorrow...it'll wait a few days more I think.
  16. I like having an automatic and a manual car. So i can choose to row my own gears (more fun) or let the car do the work (less fun but more relaxing) Manual can be a little tiring after a while when traffic is bad but I don't mind it for the most part. It's second nature to me. If I need to I can dial the phone, talk on the phone, drink or eat. Although I usually do one of those tasks when the car is stopped.
  17. I do wish Jeremy Clarkson would get his hands on it and destroy it.
  18. It's $500, you can easily fix the small stuff inside yourself with a few trips to the junkyard, and when you are done with it sell it for a profit.
  19. I'd rather have the Coupe 60
  20. I like it from the rear, the proportions and the overall shape...not a fan of the character lines that don't lineup...the dip in the window is cool. The front needs work. Looks like a squinting IS. If they did some work to the nose it's be much better.
  21. There is no resemblance to the Malibu, you're just pulling baseless opinions out of your ass again. The greenhouses are completely different, as are the character lines. By your logic a Silverado and Continental GT are similar because they have glass and a roof. Sad part is I can see you attempting to make that connection.
  22. That looks really good. I also like the new wheel designs.
  23. What did he have to say about the G8 and an Alpha Pontiac?
  24. Buy a few BMW badges and stick them on a G8. It could work...they both have split grills and the G8's design is influenced by BMW. Throw in an M badge or 2 for good measure...it wouldn't be the first time someone put another brand's badge on a car.
