  1. Agreed. My friend was born and raised in Maine, and graduated Summa Cum Laude (however it's spelled), from Dartmouth, and speaks 5 languages fluently, and he's learning 2 more.
  2. Uh, get on the Belt Parkway. That's a parkway you don't drive on. :AH-HA_wink:
  3. Happy Birthday man!!

Uh, I've been sayin' that for a few years now... :AH-HA_wink:

Well, is any part of you Sicilian? :AH-HA_wink:

I can sympathize... in the summer, my dirty-blonde goatee gets red highlights. Comes from the Sicilian side of the family. And the blonde, from the Barese side of the family. Now, the few gray hairs I'm finding on my chest... well... that's just me getting older. Sigh.
  7. Auguri!
  8. Really? I hadn't heard anything on the subject...
  9. Honestly, it still boggles my mind that they do certain things the way they do... For example, dual zone auto climate control is standard on the base LaCrosse, yet it's not standard on the Lucerne. Tilt/Telescopic STILL isn't standard on the Lucerne, yet it is on the base LaCrosse. Just curious, does anyone know if the 3900 happens to be lighter than the 3800 at all? I was just curious since it's a more modern engine, if they reduced the weight a bit, even though it's a little bigger.
  10. Sorry, with the way antibiotics are treating me, keeping my pants on is not something I can do right now. Anyhoo, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the super to be the DI 3.6L
  11. That's awesome!!
  12. I really like this freaking car.
  13. I just wish we'd see the production LaCrosse and know its specs already! I'm excited about it!
  14. This thread would be great with before/after pics.
  15. I don't like American coffee. I love tea though. The Spanish teacher at work brings in a Spanish coffee and we brew it in her room. It is so smooth, rich, and it doesn't give me problems regular coffee does (the acids bother my stomach). At night, I tend to drink a cup of tea.
  16. Oh my God, you're telling me! While Catherine was taking care of me when I had the surgery, she was eating like an out-of-control horse. And I looked at her saying, "What's up?!" and she said, "Cause I haven't had a cigarette since I got here." She actually had to have a smoke to calm her eating down. Once she had literally a cigarette for breakfast, one for lunch, and a sensible dinner, she was "normal" again... because she's not a heavy smoker.
  17. Good for you trying to lose weight. I've heard countless stories about how WW has worked for people. I can recommend a diet that is working for me... I lost 14lbs in 1.5 weeks... I had my tonsils ripped out, and I've had no food since it happened. I shouldn't say that.. I've had maybe half a cup of broth total since the surgery. Some juice and mostly water have been my diet. :AH-HA_wink: Seriously though, as Croc said, walking is key. It's a very healthy way to lose weight, tone up, improve your circulation, etc. And it's not hard on the joints.
  18. My sentiments exactly. I was ready to be a life-long Olds fanatic, and then after I got my license, they started killing off the brand. It broke me. It's why I'm a Buick fan now, but it still doesn't equate to my olds love.
  19. I'm so sorry to hear! I'm glad no one was hurt! It reminds me of what happened to my friends' truck a few years ago (I want to say a Silverado, but I just can't remember). A drunk driver hit it so hard (it was parked in front of the house), it dislodged the tool box mounted in the bed. The guy apparently had the cars stuck together, had to jump on them to eventually dislodge them, and then sped off and drove home. The cops followed the trail of coolant on the road left to his house and arrested him. People are insane these days--doesn't matter where you live apparently. Well, good luck to you, and I hope everything gets resolved soon.
  20. Not ever Camry I've ever driven has been whisper quiet. The 4 makes a typical 4-banger whiny sound especially under full throttle. Combine that to a CVT and you have that droan going nonstop unless the engine shuts off. And if it's anything like the Prius, it rarely does. I'm not a fan of CVTs at all, and that's the only transmission available with the Camry Hybrid. So, in my opinion, someone who made an enormous deal out of buying one of the quietest cars out there and hearing some noise/vibration, wants to go to a 4-cylinder with a CVT? Well, let's just say I won't be responding to any of his comments if he comes back and says he doesn't like it.
  21. I've just decided. I'm going to eat the $600. I swear, since last Thursday night when I had to stop eating for the surgery, I have seen some of the most awesome foods on tv, that have just made my mouth water. Right now, I want a roast beef sub, with some mozzarella, gravy, and a side of fries. This morning, I was dying for a thick, juicy steak. I JUST WANT MEAT BACK! :AH-HA_wink:
  22. My $600? I haven't decided... it's like a circle with me: 1) Do I put it in the bank to save up for my next car? I already have about $2000 saved just for the car. 2) Do I pay credit cards with it? 3) Do I use it to pay for classes this summer... since I'm going to wipe out my car fund like I do all the time when tuition time rolls around? It's so irritating. I never know if I should stop taking classes and keep saving for the car, or keep hitting those +15 steps added onto my masters. In the long run, the latter pays off. Immediately, it sure as hell does not.
  23. Look, I won't deny there isn't SOME cross-shopping between the Enclave and RX... I'm going to say it's low at this point. However, I do imagine when people get into the Enclave, they will be persuaded to stay with it. Someone at work bought one a couple of months ago... dark blue, ebony interior. GORGEOUS. This thing is class inside and out. Forgive me for this, but I just wish the abundant plood was just a little nicer--but if it's fake, it's tolerable, partly because the design in the interior is just so beautiful. And boy does it wear its tri-shields proudly on that beautiful, classy and aggressive grille, and on its tailgate. The next LaCrosse will experience a similar fate... it's going to get just a few cross shoppers. But hey, once word of mouth gets around, and people start hearing "Buick" again in conversations and seeing them on the road, it's only a matter of time before we start seeing Buick pick up and take of--just if the product stays fresh, classy, and put well together.
  24. Not always. People want the name. When I worked in a hospital years ago, a doctor proudly told me he just purchased with slight hesitation, an Acura Pilot. Was he simply mistaken? Or did he want to say he got an Acura because he felt they were both Hondas but people know Acura as a "luxury" nametag?
  25. Wasn't that one of the HUGE beefs with it in the beginning?
