1. Look, this car is light-years better than the LaCrosse we have now. Was I expecting something more dramatic? More daring? Yes. I understand Buick has to appeal to two continents now, and I understand they had to take their time changing products over as to not lose their customers, but this is a bit slower than I had anticipated. The fact of the matter is, this is our last Buick sedan for a while. The Lucerne's replacement was cancelled, so no major changes there. The most I could imagine is a dramatic refresh of the existing Lucerne (which I'll hope for). Do I like this Buick? Yes. Would I buy one? If it's in my budget, absolutely. I'm going to wait until I see high-quality production pictures and read specs before I make my final judgment.
2. I hate the big brake pedal you have to lift your left leg up high (I have long legs) to engage, and the hand brake usually takes up a lot of space in the console area.
3. One thing that's cool.. electronic parking brake. One thing I can't stand... the numbers in the speedo/tachometer... I hate when they go around the circle at different angles... I prefer all my numbers to be upright/vertical.
4. With faux wood and cloth standard :AH-HA_wink:
5. Don't get me wrong, I like it. But what happened to the concept? It's so warmed over... The grille? Keep the more-aggressive chrome grille... it looked nice! the faux wood, well, damn.
6. I think it looks ridiculous in person. I've only seen one.

The Big C

I'm so sorry Z... give her as much love as she can take.
8. QUOTE(LosAngeles @ Aug 6 2008, 03:53 PM) All this hybrid hype, when's the last time you saw an Insight? Late 2004.
9. I'll give you that it should have a 6-speed, but weigh less than what? It's 300lbs more than an Avalon, yet it's 6" longer and 1" wider. If the car was smaller and weighed that much, I'd say it should be lighter, but the Lucerne is a big car.
10. What about noise/vibrations? I mean, can a 4-cylinder be as smooth/quiet as a 6? Would many sacrifice that with a luxury brand?
11. Happy Birthday Z! To my favorite C&Ger on LI :AH-HA_wink:
12. LOVE the caption below the interior picture featuring chaos central (the center stack) "Uh. Okay."
13. She's focusing on priorities. :AH-HA_wink: My dog was sharking (what we call her when she's under the table during meals. You drop food? You'll never hear it hit the ground), my goddaughter's chicken during lunch today. She kept licking her jowls. I think deep down she just was begging for her to drop it.
14. I heard we're due for more like a 5-6. What sucks is, if Manhattan gets struck, those buildings are NOT prepared for an earthquake in any way.
15. Glad to hear you're alright though. I've always wanted to know what an earthquake felt like, I just never wanted to be in one! The ones we've had here were so minor, I slept through them both!
16. Wow. Just wow... I'm hoping at least we'll see a heavy refresh to at least keep it competitive. Maybe they'll add some features its cheaper sibling has?
17. Happy Birthday!!
18. Growing up our power was like that. I'll never forget, one day, we had a sun shower. Literally, the sun was blinding, it was drizzling, you heard one single low grumble of thunder, and of course, the power went out. I live on eastern Long Island now, and since the areas are newer, the power lines are buried mostly. Although, today's storms were so severe the lights actually went out for a while. Thank God for laptops though, I was able to write my paper during it.
19. Mine isn't too fair... It's "little Paul" / "Paulie" in Italian, so it came up a lot. It's not like a conglomerate of words. Google: over 1,230,000
20. If he wanted everyone to put aside their stereotypes of Buick, why did he, in every chance he could, remind us how old the average Buick driver is--or as he perceives it, in their 80's (a decade for each porthole), or over 200 (for having signed the Declaration of Independence). He liked it. Leave it at that. No need to constantly badger a car you thought was a great ride. The Lucerne Super shouldn't claim to be a sportscar--and I don't believe it does. It's a slightly athletic barge.
21. Good. I have to say, this (hot) guy at work came up to me one day and said, "Paulie, I saw this Enclave by Buick... that was a really nice SUV!" It's nice when someone recognizes a Buick. Too bad he was too dumb to realize he had been parking about 5 cars down from one daily (someone bought a dark blue one). I need to own a new Buick so I can put in a good name... right now the Chairperson of the Health Department calls my car's color patina... because of the highlighted areas of rust on it.
22. It's better than the "stockings" I own :AH-HA_wink: ... when my grandmother was alive and I was a little boy, she used to call my socks stockings because she didn't know the word for "socks" in English. And no matter how many times I tried to tell her, she never remembered it.
23. Lucky man My friend had a 94 Taurus that had a hard shift out of 1st also. My 92 Century had very smooth shifts--of course that had a different engine and transmission. Oh well, for a car with over 178K miles, I can't complain.
24. How many people is this going to tick off when they go into a dealership expecting to lease and find out they can't? I can't imagine this is something the dealers would want to advertise, and therefore I can't imagine many people would know upon walking in within the first couple of months. They're going to lose a lot of business.
