Well, it appears the big changes are all trim designations gone (i.e., no more CX/CXL/CXS designations like we knew)..

... LaCrosse gets rid of the steel wheels, gets the new 3.6L (power not yet listed), but probably an increase in fuel economy, dual zone climate control standard on all models, eAssist available, DIC is color on all levels.

... Regal gets of course the GS model, eAssist model, new NAV, and electric power steering which will probably boost fuel economy a smidgen, remote start and keyless entry/push button start available.

... Enclave sees no major changes, just some color changes, badge deletion.

Honestly, it makes little difference whether trims are there or not. They choose packages now instead of trims. If you wanted a LaCrosse with leather, rather than choosing a CXL to get it, you simply choose a LaCrosse with a certain package that includes leather. It's really not difficult.

Honestly, it makes little difference whether trims are there or not. They choose packages now instead of trims. If you wanted a LaCrosse with leather, rather than choosing a CXL to get it, you simply choose a LaCrosse with a certain package that includes leather. It's really not difficult.

That thought did not occur to me. Then again, in general I would probably want the best in a certain model anyway if I bought a new car. I do hope that this works better for Buick.

With the Lucerne full size gone there is yet another void in GM's lineup. Why they can't get a nice RWD Buick styled Zeta in the lineup baffles me to this day. The Lacrosse is not worthy to be Buick's flagship entry. If Pontiac could have it in the G8 why not Buick?

Ponchoman49, it baffles a lot of us. I would love having the G8 become a GMNA Buick with the necessary upgrades, but it is far more likely to be a Chevy Caprice or Cadillac flagship. (I hope!)

According to my local dealer (it might be a corporate decision), the Enclave is considered the flagship. I am not sure that a large crossover should be one, but that is another debate.

These are all really good additions... I just test drove a Regal Turbo with the T7 package and even got it down to the payments I wanted but buying it in the middle of my move just wasn't feasible. The two things that really got to me though were the lack of remote start and the push button start. I don't really want/need push button start, but if I'm going to spend 34K on a car, I definitely want the remote start and the option of the keyless would be nice. I really think this is a great vehicle and these little improvements are going to help a ton. The new ports will keep it in the family too, and I really want to test the GS before I buy anything.

Not surprising since those who owned SUVs in the 90s crazy are retiring now......so in a way, it makes sense.

The 'new" retirees are not going to want the same things their parents had...

Back when the Park Avenue and Roadmaster Estate shared a showroom, which car should have been considered the flagship?

The Roadmaster was the Buick flagship. Park Avenue was a very close #2, however.

I'm not so sure about that. You and I may think of the Roadmaster as the Buick flagship, but it wasn't thought of that way at Buick. The Roadmaster was luxury for a fair price, but it was considered (correctly), low tech. The Park Ave, despite being FWD and V6 powered, was considered to be Buicks flagship (out of the sedans, the Riviera was the true flagship)

You can see it rather quickly in the pricing:

Roadmaster Base - $25,560

Park Ave Base - $28,205

Roadmaster Limited - $27,490

Park Ave Ultra - $32,820

Rivira base - $30,010

Even the Roadmaster Estate Limited, pretty much loaded car at that point, was $29,445 and no amount of vogue tires or wood panel delete could push it up to the Park Ave Ultra's $32k base price.

So while you and I may think that anyone who picked a Park Ave over a Roadmaster needed to have their head examined, the truth is that Buick considered the Park Ave to be the flagship sedan and the Riviera the flagship of all Buick. Notice which one is worth more today though, the Roadmaster and Roadmaster Estate both KBB higher than either the Park Ave or Riviera. ;)

I used to know a Buick Zone Rep back in 1991, and he claimed that the PA was 'top of the line', and the Roadmaster was aimed at older RWD LeSabre owners for trade-ins. Supposedly the PA was aimed at Lexus and Acura, even back then.

A Park Avenue aimed at Lexus and Acura 20 years ago? :roflmao:. That would make no sense now with the recently departed Lucerne. Now at least the current LaCrosse can safely (and correctly) be cross-shopped with an ES350 and a TL, maybe an RL.

You did. Enclave may get a smaller 6cyl, but there is a smaller vehicle for Buick that get a 4cyl (the upcoming Encore).

There are no stated changes to the engine of the Enclave this year in the official order guide.

"Audio system, AM/FM/SiriusXM stereo with MP3 CD player, USB and AUX port, 7" color touch screen display, MP3/WMA playback, iPod support and upgradeable software."

7" color touch screen for the base? Nice :)

Wonder why the more expensive LaCrosse doesn't get that?

You're probably right though. And yes, the Verano is supposed to be for sale summer of 2011, so I would hope any day now we'd see an order guide and know pricing! I'm actually interested in it.

In 1991, $24k bought you the ES250 (tarted up Camry) with 156hp 2.5 V6 and about 7 lb-ft of torque... or...you could stroll over to the Buick dealer and pick up the new for 1991 Park Ave with 170hp and a LOT more torque and a lot more room, comfort, and "presence"

If you are thinking the Lexus LS400 - well that was more Cadillac Sedan Deville, Cadillac Seville, or Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham territory... all of which were getting their redesigns in another year or two.

If you are thinking the Lexus LS400 - well that was more Cadillac Sedan Deville, Cadillac Seville, or Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham territory... all of which were getting their redesigns in another year or two.

While it made more sense to buy a Park Avenue (or even a LeSabre) in 1991, a lot of Baby Boomers went for the ES250. Why do you think that the ES350 & RX350 are best sellers in their class? Toyota/Lexus won that war a long time ago mostly because of GM errors and the slow response of the Germans, not much else.

No. The current LaCrosse is the car to have, especially since Buick lacks a RWD flagship. Nothing wrong with the current Regal or upcoming Verano, but I would take a LaCrosse CXL or CXS over almost anything GM currently has. Cadillac does need the upcoming ATS, but it also needs a real RWD flagship too.
