Ford has a problem in that Escape, Edge and Explorer were all down at a time when people are buying crossovers like there is no tomorrow.  And Fusion was down 37%, Taurus is dead in the water, that is basically a fleet sale car until the day they cancel it.

Good thing they have the F150 kicking butt, because the rest of the brand is in trouble.  And Lincoln is flat, and doesn't really have anywhere to go, luxury sedan sales aren't going up unless they have a 3-point star on the hood, and Lincolns crossovers can't match the performance of the Euros, and Lexus and Cadillac have more sub $40k crossovers about to hit the market to go after MKC and the segment below MKC which puts a block on Lincoln introducing and MKA based on the Ecosport.   Zero growth opportunity for Lincoln right now.

Subaru just keeps chugging along, I read something like they sold 250,000 cars in the US 10 years ago, and they could top 600,000 this year.   People like that all wheel drive.

Subaru is not that big.  Then again, they have their niche and are doing better than almost any one brand.

I do have a question or two: Why is RAM selling better than the GMC Sierra?

Slightly more importantly, when is Ford going to give people a REAL product reason to choose Lincoln over everybody else?

Every midsize sedan is down, with some companies compact car outselling the midsize one....

Large sedans in general are dead....

Crossovers are tough to see though, my thought being it might simply be the number of choices out there now, as pretty much everyone has stepped up their game. Could be the sheer number of baby crossovers too. The Escape does surprise me, as it's a pretty nice SUV....

I think Acura has some of the best designs coming out.  Their front styling is very aggressive and unique.  People need time to adapt to it and then it will be legendary.  Far better than GM cars, for sure.

I could see those numbers.. well.. not flipping... but Cadillac dropping while Navigator grows.  I think for the moment the Escalade will remain in front because it is a much more known quantity right now, but over time I could see Navigator pull ahead if Cadillac *cough* rests on it's laurels.... 

If Lincoln keeps the costs in line, this could be the nail in the coffin for the likes of the Infiniti QX80 and Lexus LX460. Automotive Darwinism.

With that DOHC V8 coming soon, I don't think they will be resting for long. The Slade is too big of a cash cow to let that happen but you are exactly right regarding sales.

No, I'm sure we'll see a new Escalade about a year after the Navigator gets its first full year of sales in and then the gloves will be off.

Everyone here knows how much I  the Escalade.... but if the Navigator were on sale today... I'd probably go with the Navigator.

Both have thin seat design, I wish they had a bit more comfort padding like my 2006 Platinum ESV. Otherwise everything on the 4th Generation is perfect.
