...my ride. After so many new vehicles in so few years, as of this morning I no longer own any vehicle. Soon enough by paper too, once Chase is paid off. Since moving to Philly and working with Acura, I've been demo driving for several months and parked the Mazda. Already miss it, but a payment when it's never used and a free new car is part of my pay didn't make sense...so away the CX-9 went to a new home in the suburbs, to a couple who specifically (and luckily for me, as it was tough) wanted FWD and nothing to do with AWD, trading a 1999 Sienna. Weird. First time since 2006 I've been car-owning-less My demo 2011 Acura TSX Tech will continue to do for a while, follo…

The day before The Elegance at Hershey, the same grounds hosted a vintage auto race. The Grand Ascent found antique cars, some over a century old, speeding up the hill behind the Hershey Hotel! It was a sight to see...but you should have been there HEAR and FEEL it! The deep bass of the Mercedes' exhaust could be felt in your chest! It was amazing. Check out the pictures at the link below. http://automotivetraveler.com/jump/3745

Make sure your sound isn't too high when you hit play. Rotor noise sped up 2000% doesn't sound so nice. Also make sure you put it on 720p. Though you might have to pause and let it load a bit before you hit play again with 720p. The funny thing was, it wasn't even my choice. I was given 3 airports to fly to, and this was the course it required.

* So ... anyone else notice that the NFL's NFC Championship game (NY Giants at SF 49ers), Sunday, 01/22/2012, was a battle between terminal cities of the Lincoln Highway? Interestingly ... MLB's Giants moved across the LH from NY to SF. Route 66 also boasts connections to sports franchises in Chicago, St Louis & LA.... In terms of team colors, I can only think of 1 city that has at least 3 major sports teams with the same basic 3 colors: Pittsburgh... ...black, white, yellow/gold ...Pirates (MLB) ...Steelers (NFL) ...Penguins (NHL) Chicago is one city that comes close, with 2 teams sporting the same 3 colors... ...black, white, red ...Bulls (NBA) ...Black…

Notable highlights from the video include a mid-90s Chevrolet Cavalier that does a three-sixty degree spin without hitting anything, a dude stupidly trying to haul ass in his Dodge Dakota, and how both a Trailblazer SS and a Crown Victoria …

I spent a few hours at Barrett-Jackson today...great cool, cloudy weather. About 1300 cars this year...nice selection. In the main exhibit hall, Ford and Chevy had some large new car displays...incl. lots of 2012 and 2013 Mustangs...the '13 Shelby GT500 and Boss 302 were particularly of interest, along w/ the '12 versions.... interesting styling changes on the '13 Mustangs. Amongst the new Chevys, I got to see the Spark, Sonic, '13 Malibu, and Camaro ZL1 in person for the first time... sat in the new Malibu..pretty nice inside, but the rear seat area and rear door openings seem very tight... As far as the vintage cars being auctioned, beyond the usual dozens of Cama…

As a few people on this site can attest, I love car shows. But how many times can you look at Corvettes or Mustangs and not be bored? This past year, a new car show was launched and it was stunning! Please check out some of my pictures from the show and let me know what you think. Perhaps you can make plans on attending this year's event. http://automotivetraveler.com/jump/3722

I looked out my bedroom window at 4:30 this morning and saw the most glorious sight EVAR OMG... 4 inches of virgin snow blanketing the area. Put on my cap and coat and headed out for some travel. So relaxing to be out driving in the snow so early in the morning in a vehicle that can make it through, no worries. Ended up in BFE again (not the same place as before, but still VERY country, with lots of hills and winding roads.) Snowy fun!

The sun has unleashed a blast in Earth's direction, and that should cause brighter-than-normal auroral displays this weekend. Skywatchers won't be the only ones monitoring the storm: The folks in charge of power grids and orbiting satellites will also be on guard to make sure the disturbance in the (geomagnetic) force won't be disruptive. Word of today's blast, technically known as a coronal mass ejection or CME, comes via SpaceWeather.com's Tony Phillips. NASA says the outburst sparked an M3.2-class solar flare, as well as a stream of electrically charged particles that is due to interact with Earth's magnetic field on Saturday. Wanted to get out of the house as it's been a boring weekend. Drove south a few miles toward Conestoga, PA, and sawr a sign for "Shenk's Mill Wildflower Preserve". Not really familiar with the area even though it's like 6 miles south of my house. Suddenly, the blacktop ended and the road turned to gravel with some decent washouts and steep down- and uphill approach and departures. I turned around at a railroad track and took a different route. It was like I dropped off the face of the earth. I lowered the window to listen for the sound of banjos... Little Patriot pulled through well. I got a little mud on 'im. It turned out to be a fun excursion.

* After my 11/11/2011 open heart surgery, I drove for the first time, 12/15/2011. I had a rush of excitement when I pulled my 1979 Caprice Classic out of the garage, where it had been with my 5 MCs. An unnamed Lexus executive reportedly told a GM-oriented blog that the next-generation Lexus ES sedan will make the Buick LaCrosse a “laughable” luxury car. The executive was quoted by GMAuthority.com, which says it was able to glean a little information about the next-generation luxury sedan. Expected to bow later this year to replace the aging 2012 Lexus ES (which first debuted for 2007), the new car will reportedly be wider and longer than the current model in an effort to better compete against rivals like the LaCrosse and Acura TL . In addition, the executive said that the LaCrosse won’t be able to “hold a candle to” the ES’ interior quietness. Buick ’s “Quiet Tun…

I'm still keyed up on adrenalin as I type this. Around 2:30 this morning I heard a commotion outside my house. Next thing I know, I hear a couple of bangs and the sound of a sliding door opening. I stayed quiet, got out of bed and peered out my bedroom door. Some old dude was IN MY HOUSE! I don't know if he was drunk or what, but I watched him try to stash some boxes under my tree. I figure he must have stolen them from somewhere. It was dark, but I could tell he was overweight, unshaven and wearing red and white pajamas. As quiet as I could so as not to be detected, I grabbed a nearby machete, flung on the light switch, and started swinging that machete like a he…

<iframe width="420" height="315" src=" http://www.youtube.com/embed/k9hEJHhw9hA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The stupidity displayed in the video above leaves me with my palm on my face, snickering and almost speechless. Brown shirts in halls of power again Furtive and scheming Preparing Too soon yet for false glory and symbol Too soon for open declarations and edict Furtive still and prevailing Slow erosions and sharp affronts Wrapped in cloaks of safety to hide their faces Sleeping the sleep of slow poisons Not hearing the cries of warning Not learning from the brutal past We turn our heads and refuse to see Silent now is the fourth estate compromised and broken As its own freedom drains away As it capitulates Two centuries on and that golden dawn of wisdom and reason no longer shines in enough souls We forget ourselves We forget the dangers We allow the dismantli…
