Buick
Founded in 1903 by David Dunbar Buick, Buick is one of America’s oldest automobile brands and the oldest active division of General Motors (GM). Known for pioneering innovations like the overhead valve engine, Buick became a symbol of affordable luxury throughout the 20th century. It played a key role in GM’s growth and today positions itself between Chevrolet and Cadillac, offering premium vehicles in both the U.S. and China—its largest market.

There is this place here in Ontario called Whitby (near Oshawa plants) Well this includes Oshawa too, though not as much. I think this place is a gold mine for buick w-bodys because people know they are built right there. I think this place must have been a gold mine for years. I was very surprised today as I spent a lot of time there, and a trend that I noticed was Older people were driving LeSabres, Regals and some old people in Allures. But the thing that surprised me was that most of the people in Century's weer younger people, and some of the people in Allure's were younger. Now I really think this place has been one of gm's gold mines. Anyone ever been…

From the website autospectator.com, here is an excerpt from the article, "GM Sets New First Half Marks for Sales and Market Share in China: Sales Total 453,832 Units, Market Share Hits 12.5 Percent," about Buick in China: " . . . The ongoing popularity of the Excelle lower-medium sedan, Shanghai GM’s best-selling vehicle, and GL8 executive wagon family propelled Buick sales to 145,786 units, which was an increase of 38.7 percent on a year-on-year basis. Among the new and upgraded Buick products introduced by Shanghai GM in 2006, the LaCrosse premium sedan – which was developed locally by GM’s Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC) joint venture with SAIC in Shangha…

I was very impressed at a new Lucerne commercial I saw. It was about how quiet it was and about that mr head guy or something to test the sound. Buick then said how other car companies still are louder than they are blah blah blah..then some hip hop music came on . :CG_all:

I've been looking at some new and used, and I was wondering if the factory XM setup can be added. Would a radio swap be needed? Or would I be screwed? I've had XM for a while now and couldn't possibly live without it, and I don't want a seperate unit like I do now.

I saw a beautiful license plate at the dealer. It had the colored 1950's Buick shield on top of a reflective plate, $44.00. Is this available for less someplace else.

Buick has teased the Electra name for decades, Buick has now chosen to create a sub-brand for Buick in China called Electra and with this, their flagship product is the Electra ENCASA. This is an MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) minivan that will define the 21st century of Buick for luxury transport and family use. The ENCASA MPV has a starting price of $70,986 U.S. dollars and comes with GM's latest charging system, a 900V 6C ultra-fast electrical system enhanced for safety and refined ownership experience with the latest in electric technologies. This global MPV has been paired with what GM says will become their new standard for electric vehicles. Buick Elec…

I hope this is a change that will take place across the model lines! Get rid of the alphanumeric designations for Pontiac and Cadillac. I don't think the name changes have helped GM. It takes more money to advertise an unfamiliar model. HOW SWEET IT IS! I hope GM doesn't change their mind and go back to Lacrosse!! When the Japanese have a dud, they don't change the name..they change the styling or other attributes about the car. Don't expect Altima, Accord, Camry, Civic or Corolla to change names anytime soon. Maybe Cavalier and Grand Am needed a name change. But the other models? Nah. Is the Cobalt selling any better than the Cav? Colorado selling any better than…

[source: Motor Trend] First Test: 2010 Buick LaCrosse CXS Dr. Right: A Buick to Lure Back the Medicos [/font] There was a time long ago, boys and girls, when all telephones had cords, music could be purchased only on cumbersome black discs, and cigarettes were advertised on TV as a digestive aid. Back in those blurry, black-and-white days, well-off professional Americans in the prime of their careers aspired to own Buicks. The brand became known as "the doctor's car," because it provided most of the creature comforts, quiet performance, and gravitas of a glitzy Cadillac without causing patients or clients to question their house-call …

Recently had the opportunity to rent a base LaCrosse CX for a weekend from Friday to Monday morning. It was a blue fleet model without the Onstar. I was relieved to see that it at least had the bucket seats because every Impala they had was a split bench. Upon pulling out of the rental agency, I noticed right away that the LaCrosse was a bit quieter than it's Regal/Century predecessors. The 3800 sounded almost identical to my 00 LeSabre with a more muted exhaust and a very refined idle. This was one of my biggest beefs with the W-bodies in the past. The 3800's always sounded thrashy and course but this one was noticeably more refined overall, just as advertised! Road nois…

I read in a 2007 Lucerne promo of the "NEW DOUBLE ISOLATED” powertrain mounting system. Does anyone know whether this is different/better than they used in 2006? My own experience with my 2006 CX is that the engine noise isolation is not as good as it could be, and not as good as it was in my previous 1999 LeSabre. Otherwise, it's a nice, quiet car, especially after the source of an annoying vibration under acceleration was found & corrected by the dealer. If better mounts are now available, I'd be interested in retrofitting them to my 2006, if that's possible.

The CARS.com site has been updated with all the Enclave options and color combos. On the right side under new cars, select ANY BUICK model (Enclave is not in the drop down). Then select the link for change YEAR. Select 2008 and then you'll see the Enclave link. I wonder how some decisions are made. The Outlook is available in dark grey but not metallic white (8 colors in total), the Acadia has both dark grey and metallic white (9 colors), the Enclave is available in metallic white but not dark grey (8 colors) . . .

2008 Buick Enclave CXL AWD The Highs: Serene driving environment, creamy ride, sexy sheetmetal, gorgeous interior. The Lows: Tepid power-to-weight ratio, modest towing capacity, so-so braking. The family champ in ride quality is also a real looker. BY TONY SWAN, PHOTOGRAPHY BY AARON KILEY October 2007 A New York Times columnist recently observed that the key to restoring Big Three fortunes lay in creating vehicles with compelling eye appeal—vehicles that people would actually want to buy. This dazzling insight came long after Buick had unveiled its Enclave crossover at the ’06 Detroit show, but the Enclave does seem to vindicate the thesis. It’s the first Buick in re…

I still think this would make a nice addition to the Buick lineup as a "4-door coupe" type of vehicle that could draw younger customers into Buick showrooms. The engine choices would need to be altered for the U.S. market though. The turbo 4 would need to be the base engine with the 3.0 DI V6 serving as the optional engine. These engine offerings would keep the Regal positioned below the upcoming LWB Eps II LaCrosse, which I believe will have the 3.0 DI V6 as standard equipment and the 3.6 DI V6 as an optional engine. The link below provides more extensive pictures of the "Buickized" Opel Insignia that I have not seen before: Visit My Website Source: World Car Fans…

I love Buicks. My parents drove them and still do, and I learned how to drive on a LeSabre and an Estate Wagon. My first car was a Skylark. It rocked. Buicks have impeccable quality, power, and in most cases, pretty cool styling. I'd love to buy one, but they need to make a car for 30-somethings, without abandoning their core market. Here's what GM should do with Buick: 1. Develop a coupe. Lexus has one, so does Mercedes, Infiniti, Acura and Volvo. If you want to be a premium brand, you need a 2 door. For most of Buick's existence, they've offered one, except for the past 8 years or so. Remember Skylark, LeSabre, Riviera,…

I'm 14 and looking for a good year round car to drive that still has potential to go sideways when I floor it. I'm thinking something like a 2009 Buick lucerne super that I can turn into my own little project car. Does that sound like a good starter car? If not, any suggestions?
