Hmmm.

Depends, then. If you prefer leisurely drives through the woods with some nice river and mountain views go with the 1A portion and double back at Lake Louise. If you prefer mountains and lakes all up in your grille bypass 1A, stay on the TCH, and try and get to Moraine Lake. But hey, even if you're "just" able to make it to Canmore or Banff you're still gonna have a blast. I'm gonna be there in mid-September. I can't wait already.

Edit: if you make it to Banff and decide to stop there, head up the road to Mount Norquay. There's a nice (but extremely sloped) field about halfway up, before the ski resort entrance. Good view of the town to be had, with Mount Rundle in the background.

Took my own advice and did my own road trip today. Awesome, fun, relaxing.

Had one of those weekends and it's frustrating me to no end. 

Yup. the overwhelmingness of it all sometimes I'll just do nothing about it.. Then realize..F! and then do work.. I do pretty good work under pressure.

Just got back from my trip to Fairmount Mineral Hot springs in Canada, love that place. Took a day to drive to Banf, then Lake Louise and hike up to the glaciers and then ran up to Jasper for dinner and drove north to enjoy the bright long day till I ran out of road and turned around and drove back to Fairmount. If cash is tight, just get out and about any which way you can. Jump on a subway or GO Train. Go people-watching maybe. Head to the lakeshore. Take pics on your phone (in a non-creeper way, obviously )

But above all else, stay relaxingly busy. And embrace that paradox.

I feel you man, same here.  Financially and time-wise life is a total bitch right now ad I am getting sick of it. 

 

On another note, i think Jeep should give me a Renegade Trailhawk and a Patriot with the Freedom Drive II of-road package for a year review to test the off-road ability etc because i am REALLY curious how they compare overall.

Ugh. My work just hired some blonde girl to fill some sort of marketing (??) position, nobody really knows. She is so f@#king dumb it's painful just hearing her talk. No bullsh*t, she's one of the least intelligent people I've ever heard speak.

 

I work in the art dept, and she's been jovially trying to get my boss to "work with her" on ridiculous menial design tasks, because she has all these "ideas" that she just needs a designer to execute. She's so tech savvy that she accidentally exported a Microsoft Word document as a low res jpeg file and didn't understand the problem. She also was impressed/surprised to see Macs in our dept and asked if my boss was a "Photoshop master."

 

I have a feeling her paycheck for doing ??? is higher than mine.

While I absolutely 100% agree.. My friend said this to me that kind of opened my eyes to it regardless of fake or not. "it's entertainment" That really is all that it is, just like ANYTHING on the ole television. Whether it is all staged or isn't(we know which it is) then it is like one long ass movie. It is planned out, acted out, and always new stories. <-I never thought of it that way. I always looked at it as a sport, which was being faked and staged(which I hated once I grew out of it). But once I realized it is kind of just like a movie(which we all watch movies) I realized it isn't that bad anymore. I still don't watch it but that is more because I'm not even going to try and spend 3 or so weeks getting into the "rythm" of who's who and what's what.

I used to watch this stuff on and off from the mid 1980s to the mid 1990s....stopped. Then continued from 1999 to maybe 2002. I dont watch anymore.

I always viewed it as a sport.

I always knew it was staged.

I always watched it as entertainment. Male soap opera is how I viewed it.

I just had a thread closed on another forum because I was asking concealed and carry questions.. I literally was just asking if anybody had anything mounted in their car(Ford Escape forum). If they had and suggestions or locations that they liked best. And before k said any of that I stated that I al looking to get into a class for my license within the next few months. All depending on scheduling. So I made it clear that it would be done legally.. Kind of annoyed.

Speaking of which..Drew, could I start a concealed carry thread..? (About it in general and/or about vehicular mounting)

There isn't a major difference, LED tv's advertise with the same specs as computer monitors. That monitor is 1440p, which is higher than typical HD, because computer monitors are expected to be viewed at 2 feet away. $480 is competitively priced, but I wouldn't say it's a "deal". I'm sure Beats Audio branding inflated the price too.

 

I got my dual 23" 1080p monitors for $330 combined over a year ago. Proportionately similar pixel density, more usable workspace. Sure I sacrificed having the highest possible color contrast and true-to-life black, but that's how you get value.

HP's 32" Computer Display - 2560 x 1440 with HDMI Display port plus the following:

 

2 HDMI ports for connecting to blue ray or other devices

2 bass speakers

Some models also allow the monitor to go into Portrait mode such as the NEC Display monitor.

I mean "factory" speakers won't equate to a good aftermarket set at this price point anyway so those speakers don't really mean much, in my opinion. I work on a 27 inch 2560x1440 screen all day at work (iMac). It's adequate, but frustrating for real multitasking, and the resolution is overkill for graphics or streaming video so the primary benefit is more on-screen real-estate. Functionally, I'll take two medium sized monitors over one large screen any day. For $450 you can get a pair of high-end 26-27 inch 1080p monitors (drool...).

 

As far as...

-Multiple HDMI ports for other devices - that's what a TV is for. Even my 8 year old LCD TV has 2 hdmi, 2 component, a USB port, and SD card slot.

-Built in speakers - Meh, no good for dual screen set ups.

-USB hub - $10 value

-Headphone jack - already included on the computer and most stand alone speakers.

At my current job, I have dual 24 inch Dell monitors which are decent...at my last place, though, I had dual 27 inch Apple HD displays...Thunderbolt connection..those were about $1000 each in 2012 when the office was built out IIRC...those were great monitors.

Also shows that while Ford might be saying they are selling F150's big time, they really are only filling up dealer lots as the lots around here are showing ton's of Ford Trucks and not much moving. The ads this week in Washington are starting to approach 9K off F150's. I have to say FORD has missed something here or buyers see better value in GM or RAM.

If you do not create content for say marketing or training, then most would not need a large monitor like this or one that is tuned for first use as a computer monitor, second use as a TV. TV's are not good use as a monitor but more for a quick web browse. In my line of work having multiple monitors like this allows one to have all their work laid out and quickly move back and forth between documents, web sites, bugzilla, SSH sessions to hardware, etc. I just moved our folks to dual 27" NEC monitors for those that like a monitor in Portrait mode or a single 32 inch and they are all loving the real estate space.

Went & visited my grandfather today. He'll be 100 next month. Lives alone, still mowing his own lawn.

I wish I could visit my grandfather. Except I never met him because he died at the ripe age of 48, when my dad was 8 years old. Maybe screwed my dad's and my generation of the family over. Damn you high cholesterol!!
